is a beautiful place with excellent customer service and lovely gardens and fresh flowers in the room. the swimming pool is also really Nice. however i am giving 4 out of 5 for the following reasons: 1) only plastic bottle water was provided. i would enjoy more eco-friendly water-refilling stations. would be great be great if you can join "Refill Bali" 2)toilet paper rolls and glasses in the rooms were all wrapped up in plastic. There is no need to wrap these items in plastic (many hotels dont wrap). if you want to wrap, use paper bags like some other hotels. there is enough plastic in the ocean. 4) please don't use plastic straws. use paper straws. possibly don't put a straw. Many cafe's put papers straws with the Salt and paper towels on the table so people grab one only if they want it. 5)the garden was slightly overpruned. it would be nicer to have more higher trees for better shade. 6) One of the main attractions of this hotel is that its on the beach. Unfortunately during parts of the year there can be alot of rubbish washed on to the shore by the tide. as much as possible Clean the beach and provide more plastic bins. allot of tourists like to pick up some of the rubbish to leave the beach cleaner then how they found it.…
Pondok Sari is a gem of a lush garden set on the beach at Pemuteran. Lush does not come naturally here. The garden needs watering. The result is certainly worth the effort. The resort is made of bungalows nestled between trees and bushes. Our deluxe bungalow had two stories. On the ground floor was our large bedroom. It had a desk and a sitting area. All of which we cluttered with stuff and clothes. We had no reason to linger indoors. Thus no real use for the sofa and desk. The upper floor is open on the sides and thus has no air conditioning. It had a table and a day bed. Both excellent locations for a nightcap. In short: room, garden setting, and location are perfect. Food at the restaurant is good. The restaurant spreads from the pool to the beach. We enjoyed having our breakfast at the beach. At dinner, we preferred a table under a large tree. I can highly recommend the Ayun Sate. The chicken skewers are served on a miniature charcoal grill. Pondok Sari has a central location within Pemuteran. Many Warungs (small restaurants) are within short walking distance. All the Warungs we visited had good food. Eating in an around Pondok Sari never gets boring. The next-door hotel Taman Sari also has a restaurant on the beach. Food here is fabulous. Definitely worth the short walk. We also checked out the hotel grounds at Taman Sari and like Pondok Sari better. Both hotels are somewhat similar in style. Taman Sari has more of a manicured garden and wide-open spaces. I prefer the charm and coziness of the Pondok Sari garden. The best thing about Pondok Sari is its pool. It may not be very large but is set in a garden that provides shade and charm. Right next to the pool is a lily pond. A Buddha statue watches over the pool. I was mesmerized by that statue. I could have spent hours (probably did) laying on my back staring at that Buddha wondering if its gaze was following me. Maintenance at Pondok Sari could be upgraded a notch. Room, restaurant, and pool were in top shape. Well maintained and cleaned. The garden had a couple of huts that could have been used to lay down in the shade. These, however, were too dusty to be used. Some were cluttered with various stuff. One had trash left by inconsiderate guests but never cleaned out. Many beach chairs also had seen better days. Cushions all had seen better days. Some beach chairs were damaged. A quick safety check before laying down is recommended.…
We thought if we book by Werner lau dive center that it would be necessary to stay in the Pondok resort. Well this is not necessary and around there are better hotel options. The houses/ bungalows are old and need renovation and the atmosphere is comparable with other hotels we visited cheap and old fashioned. The restaurant FOOD is good but the chairs and tables are dirty and glue. Without a towel I will not sit down. The old tree is beautiful and it needs not a lot to make the resort more comfortable and Bali style. The garden and the pool is beautiful and well covered. My recommendation to stay is Taman Sari next door.
The service and accomodation is true to Balinese traditions with a laid back atmosphere, this place is one of the least untouched environments with snorkelling any turtle rehabilitation on the coast and lest tourists from its well known sister locations. Highly recommend, all the staff and locals here are amazing and will be sure to accomodate.
