This place certainly lived up to its Tripadvisor recommendations. We stayed for four nights and loved our hut and semi-open Balinese bathroom. Everything was spotless; staff really friendly and a great touch to come round every evening to light mosquito coils and close the nets around the bed. I am usually eaten alive despite using repellent and wasn’t bitten once! One tip would be to use their map and head to the bio-reef when heading to the beach. The beach nearest to the hotel is unfortunately quite dirty. The bio reef and turtle sanctuary is well worth a walk to
On the + side : Hotel has a nice atmosphere and nice swimming pool Food is good quality at restaurant Room is attractive Quiet place/ no noise from the main road On the - side : Personnel are nice and willing to help but lack basic training (common sense?) and look totally disorganized. Every morning you need to ask them to bring cups and glasses at breakfast (they see that there are none left at the main table but do nothing), to refill the 3 pots that are empty,... You ask for 5 courses at the menu for 5 people they bring you 3 forks and say « sorry » when you ask for 2 more. You ask for a big bottle of water they don’t bring glasses if you don’t specifically ask, and if you ask for glasses they bring 1 when you are 5 at the table. Service is slow (and there are many waiters and personnel preparing food, more than is probably necessary). Location of the hotel is far from the beach. It looks close on the map but there is no direct access and you have to go through the main road. The bathroom of family room is very small and not very practical (you generally end up putting water on the toilet when you take a shower). Excursions and taxis are far more expensive than with (reliable) agencies in town. Before getting in the hotel, we asked them for a taxi transfer from Gilimanuk to the hotel, they proposed 350k and said 300k was the best price they could offer, we ended up paying 150k without negotiating too hard with a very comfortable car. Same for snorkelling at Menjagan or Ijen tours. Overall we still believe it is a suitable option but room is too expensive (even for Pemuteran) given points above, level of service and alternative options. …
Very good guesthouse with a lot of possible activities around. The owner is very nice and he really wants to take care of the visitors. The food is perfect and also mans cottage cocktails!!! We organized a trip to the small island with him and all was perfect even more than expected!!! We will come back for sure!!
Loved our stay here. The staff are great, very friendly and super helpful. The facilities are nice and clean with a great restaurant and pool. Would highly recommend staying at Man’s Cottage and Spa. Thanks for having us 😃
After 2016 we again stayed at Herman and Miya for ten days and it was great again: the resort is wonderfully quiet, well maintained and beautiful green. You feel like you are in paradise. Our room was modern & neat and was cleaned daily. We were always very happy about the creative towel figures. Everything was perfect for a super-relaxing holiday: the food (international or Balinese) was everytime delicious, the staff always with a friendly smile on the face and worried about our well-being! Whether diving (thanks to Firman, our great guide), cooking class or touring outside - there was nothing more to be desired. The evenings with music and dancing were especially amazing. Everything was perfectly organized by Herman. We can only say: Thanks to all and we will be back!
