Detailed Reviews
Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the this hotel, particularly because of the fantastic location. It was right on the beach, with one of the pools overlooking the other beach, and another within the middle of the hotel. There were good restaurants, spas, and shops all within a couple of minutes walk.
I think you may need to be careful with which rooms you choose if you want a quieter morning. There pool side rooms would be great for people with kids, otherwise, I might think twice about them. We were up on the third floor, and were woken as early as 7.15am with people yelling in the pool, I think if you didn't have a reason to be down in those rooms, it could get quite annoying with people walking past and yelling in the pool all the time.
The room was very spacious with a large bed and the air conditioning was good, we had a small issue with it on our fifth day, called the front desk and they fixed it immediately. Not the constant problems with it not working as some others have mentioned in their reviews. The staff were all lovely.
There were a few minor little issues with plumbing in our room (we would have to stop the shower halfway through to let it drain a little bit so it didn't overflow - the drain couldn't keep up with the water flow). This wasn't a big problem though, just a small issue. We were a little frustrated on the last day when no one cleaned our room, and we contacted the front desk to ask for it to be cleaned and we were told someone would come down. When we arrived back from dinner it still had not been done. We did mention it to the reception staff and they offered to send someone down right away, by this time it was 9.30pm at night so we said not to worry about it. Again, not a huge issue, we're capable of making our own bed, but if a few small miscommunications over the course of our stay had been avoided, it would have been excellent.
I would stay at this hotel again, particularly for its fantastic location.

We have recently returned after 8 nights here, have to say we really enjoyed our time in this hotel. The staff were all very helpful and very courteous. Our room was a very good size with good amenities, importantly the bed was comfortable.
The location is very good and the overall layout of the premises is very good. the Beach House has a great pool with a view and the main pool is also large so it doesn't feel crowded even with a number of people in the pool.
We ate a couple of times at the Beach House and were very happy with our meals on each occasion, the food came in good time and the staff were very attentive.
There is a higher price for poolside rooms but really all rooms aren't that far from the pool.
We have now stayed at hotels in this area and for our next trip we are planning to return to this hotel as a first preference.
We had a massage at the Spa and it was well worth the price.
Also thanks to the security staff out front, they were always very helpful in getting us a Bluebird Taxi.

Dear Colin, Many Thanks for your recent review. It is so nice to hear such honest and genuine feedback. At times the feedback given does not represent a true stay and the way you have written your experience gives all the Trip Advisor readers around the world a true reflection of the resort and what your stay was like. Thank You for taking the time to mention about our staff. They are truly an asset of the hotel and one of the reasons why the guests keep coming back. Please contact me again for your next trip to Bali and I do hope that we continue to give you an experience that truly represents our brand. Warm Regards Evan

I am just back from Bali for a short business trip and doing a little thing called a short vacation whilst on a business trip.
I stayed at Away Bali Legian Camakila and I had a great experience staying at this hotel. Firstly, the spacious room offers me lagoon/pool access (though I only once did swim since from the morning to evening I am away for client meetings) but gives me a sense of beauty of the room. Nice room decoration and for sure bedding and pillow make me lazy to wake up in the morning. And almost everything I need is there. Bath rooms come with a bath up and the hot water and cold water flowing fast, I like it so much as no longer waiting to fill the bath up with hot water.
Speedy internet all around the corner and helped me a lot for the work in the entire of my stay (I stayed for 5 days 4 nights).
Breakfast venue was overlooking the beach and breezy and windy morning waves increased the spirit.
Location is just great and have an access to the beach area, the option of a pool is available whether you need a huge one or smaller one while enjoying the beach.
The staff, extremely friendly and helpful and great by your name.
I can't say anything more since it all fulfilled my expectation, my better advice is that you should experience it by yourself. Affordable price is offered but worth trying.

As regular visitors to Bali (5-6 times per year) we decided to try somewhere different this trip. Booked and paid for four nights in a poolside room, however checked out after two nights and into the Bandha (see review).
We were told that this property was under new management and had received extensive renovations. On arrival we were impressed by the foyer/ check- in area, which seems to be where they spent most of their reno money because things go down hill from there. Pool side room appeared to have had a quick paint and some upgraded furniture.
Pros
Friendly staff
Location
Comfy bed
Cons
Musty smelling rooms
Showers are above plastic baths with no water pressure and low heat
leaking aircond onto tiled floor
Power outlets in room not functioing
Door to pool access kept jamming
General lack of maintenance around the entire property.
There are better choices in this price range

Our stay this time was our 3rd stay during the Christmas/New Year period and this year we saw that under the new management of Cross Hotels and Resorts, it has been re-decorated from front to back, the decking around the pool area has been repaired, making it a lot safer, as well as the garden walking area.
The quality of the food at the restaurants has improved and we suffered no problems with digestion issues.
A large number of the previous staff are still working at the hotel, and we were welcomed with open arms, and a friendly smile from all of them.
The lounges around the pool areas, have new cushions, so much more comfortable.
we met all of the section managers, who were only to happy to listen to any issues we had, and the issues raised were dealt with as soon as possible.
Unfortunately we had NO glasses in our bathroom, which are normally standard equipment, plus there was nowhere to plug in the hotel supplied hairdryer, in the bathroom. Previously this was not an issue, but since room renovations, the socket seems to have been removed. Possibly a safety issue, but not advised but the hotel at the time we were there.
We thoroughly enjoyed our 13 night stay, and will be booking again this year.

I enjoyed staying at this resort very much. Very relaxed and a great play to stay on the beach side with a very good daily rate at present for the resort
From check in with Ms Christmas (sp) whom was very gracious and out going to make you feel welcomed on arrival to all the staff with their pleasant attitude of can do. Very enjoyable .
Rooms are large with large balconies , shower plenty of hot water , with cold AC and very comfortable bed.
Security was excellent and the pool very large and inviting.
breakfast was good with the typical omelet or egg offerings with bacon and toast and fruit.
Early morning walks as staying right on the beach road and walk across the street to the beach.
Spa was great with the traditional Balinese massage and very price competitive.
Perfect location and again thumbs up to the hotel and their staff

What can I say this hotel was a great winter escape!. From the moment of check in to check out it was effortless!.
The rooms are large, clean and have great comfortable beds with lots! of pillows, the towels were soft and fluffy and the toiletries like shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were provided.
There’s an in room safe, robes and towels for the pool are provided if you just ask.
In room tablet where you can order room service and massages in the spa and find any other info you needed. Free TV is also provided and buffet breakfast which had a large variety of options (pastry’s) and fresh made omelettes were my personal faves.
There’s two lovely pools, the one at the back which is closest to the beach where you can watch the sunset while enjoying cocktails that the staff can bring to you. (best price is happy hour).
In hotel currency exchange which always seemed to have the best rate in town and they were well spoken in english and no worry about being ripped off.
The staff go above and beyond for any requests you have. My favourite was the security though, they were all so friendly!!and offered us lots of advice of where to go which was safe and great clean places to eat. Super accomodating, one in particular was Yudah he spoke the best english we came across in bali and he went out of his way to make sure we had an awesome time while keeping us safe from local scams and those who would bother us for stuff we didn’t need.
We will for sure stay here again and tell all our friends to come and visit to as there preferred place to stay in bali!.
You can’t go wrong if you stay here.

First of all it’s a nice resort, on the beach and in a great location
Staff are friendly and they have some great organised theme nights
Rooms are spacious and cleaned daily.
The reasons I won’t stay here again
Unless you have a pool access room you cannot sit around the main pool, there is no room for deck chairs, they are down from the pool in front of other peoples rooms it’s very odd ! I go on holidays to read and lay be the pool and could not do at the main pool . There is a second pool out the front but it’s chairs and terraced and not many of them for the size of the resort
Breakfast - was a challenge to get a seat sometimes and each morning struggled to get glasses for juice and cutlery - it’s the low season I would hate to do breakfast there in high season, if you can opt out of breakfast I would go elsewhere it’s not that great.
My room overlooked a vacant block next door so not the nicest view after all the adds show a pool view
Spa looked great however on both days I was unable to get an appointment so book ahead and I would imaging high season to be crazy
I was very disappointed as I had high hopes for this resort and was hoping to make it my regular in Bali
Have the keep trying

The Away was recommended by a friend who goes to Bali several times a year. It was my first time in Bali for over 25 years and my daughters first time. We went for her 20th birthday and the staff at the Away ensured her birthday was perfection!
I booked a twin poolside room.
We arrived around midnight and checked in easily. Staff brought our bags to the room immediately. Our poolside room was the very first room at the bottom of the stairs going down from reception. I was worried it would be too noisy/have too many passers by, but it wasn’t really an issue. The first night we had a few minor issues (couldn’t find powerpoint near bed, or light switch) but these things were fixed next morning with the help of our amazing housekeeper Gede.

The hotel currency exchange had a great rate, so no worries about being ripped off outside the hotel.
The staff go above and beyond for any requests you have.
Deluxe rooms are fine unless you really want your own poolside lounger. I paid extra as my daughter insisted on a poolside room, and whilst it was lovely, we didn't take much advantage of it (unlike our next door neighbours who spent all day every day on their private sun lounges with a good book!). I liked the outlook of the garden rooms (ground floor but not poolside). If you have mobility issues, choose a Deluxe room as the lift is there.
The resort itself has been well maintained during the last 2 years, everywhere has been freshly painted and the gardens well maintained.
I believe what really makes a hotel is the staff and everyone we encountered at the Camikila were most welcoming and so very happy to have guests back.
The star performer is Widy, the Operational Manager. She introduced herself at breakfast the first morning and was available to answer any question or help with any issues. She was very friendly and capable and helpful. I feel I have made a good friend. My other favourite staff member was Suchi in the restaurant at breakfast. Greeted everyone by name and knew their coffee order after one day! And Gema, our wonderful room attendant. Thank you all so much for making our stay so special.

The first night we had a few minor issues (couldn’t find powerpoint near bed, or light switch) but these things were fixed next morning with the help of our amazing housekeeper Gede.
The rooms are large, clean and have great comfortable beds with lots! of pillows, the towels were soft and fluffy and the toiletries like shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were provided.
There’s an in room safe, robes and towels for the pool are provided if you just ask. There's also an in room tablet where you can order room service and massages in the spa and find any other info you needed.

So I was lucky enough for the Away camakila to transfer my booking from precovid into vouchers. Unfortunately these vouchers ran out Dec 21. After many calls and messages I was able to get them extended. So I booked in pool side for 5 nights out of the 18 vouchers that I had. To be honest there was a few small teething problem that were to be expected with tourist returning after 2 years. I wasn’t having much success with fixing these, I think maybe just forgetting. On my last day the manager turned up to ask if I could help. Widy was absolutely amazing, we had a good chat about things and she also asked my opinion about things. Now I have been to bali many times and everyone is friendly but I have never met someone so professional. Widy has obviously had great training and she is a great asset to the company. I had some issues still with reservations trying to get the remaining vouchers extended to use at a later date. Widys response was “ no problem leave it with me and I will make sure it gets fixed” a few days later I still had not heard from reservations so sent a quick message to Widy. Next thing you know it’s all fixed. Widy is very understanding and is willing to listen to the customer. I’m now very happy that the vouchers are extended so that I can see this customer service first hand again. When a manager asks for your opinion on something you know they are genuine and they want to get the hotel to be the best it can. Widy well done and Thankyou for your continued efforts

No USB. Two types of power points: round insert two round pin, and international for any 240v ac plug.
Block 1 is in the shade most of the day. Block 5 in sunny. But the sun is pretty well overhead, so if you would like more dappled shade, choose block 1. Block 5 can get a bit warm. I suggest top level block 5, possibly room 5303, it's away from the noisy part of the pool and the restaurant and above the walking traffic of the poolside itself.
There are a number of bars and restaurants on the beach, but you hire them. The Hotel does not have chairs on the beach. The beach is out the back, across the road.
