Overall experience here was good. The minor negatives are negated by the price. The location is far from anything worth seeing. This makes no difference however as you can rent a scooter cheaply. While other reviewers comment that rental is free if you stay more than three nights this wasn't the case for me (May 2018). Cleanliness is okay. Breakfast is okay. Nice rooftop. Very helpful hosts. Downside for me was the lack of atmosphere for a solo traveller. However, I think I was unlucky in that few other people were staying at the same time as me. I'd recommend if you're on a budget.
I stayed at Gusti Homestay twice now and it's really nice, there is breakfast in the morning, free water to fill up your bottle and it's really quiet (which I like) I rented a bike from him and the prices are really good. Would definitely recommend!
I stayed @ Gusti Homestay for the last 4 nights of my visit to Bali. The place has great vibes and I really appreciated the peace and quiet. The room was simple and kept nice and clean. They had a nice breakfast (included) every morning. There's also a place that sells burgers, steaks etc within 100m of the place, if that's your thing. It's best to get around on a motorbike while staying and Gusti can give you a great deal if you don't already have one! Or drive you himself. Gusti was always smiling and very helpful with local tips and knowledge. I loved it there and I'll be going back to stay next holiday. I highly recommend this place to anyone! It's a very homely experience! Thank you Gusti and Ayu! See you next time! 🙏 😁
My partner and I intended to stay for a few days and ended up staying for over a week. Gusti is a really cool guy, super friendly, and the homestay is really nice. We stayed in a hostel style mixed dorm with bunk beds and a bathroom and it was quite pleasant. We rented a bike off him for the full time we stayed there and the price was really reasonable, it is far out but if you have a bike then it's perfect. I would 100% recommend staying with Gusti.
We stayed two weeks at Gusti's Home stay. We really enjoyed the peace and quiet which this property is offering you. Gusti and Komangn are wonderful hosts, and they made our stay so much comfy. The A/C and dvd inside the room is definitely a plus for the room. Also Gusti gave us good tips where to eat or to go out. 5 star experience
Gusti and his family are just simply amazing hosts. The rooms are nice and clean, with A/C, LCD TV, shower and a nice big bed. But it's Gusti, his sons and his wife which make this place a wonderful home. I've stayed more than 20 nights here and enjoyed every day. If you book more than 3 nights you get a scooter for free. Every morning you have a simple but nice breakfast waiting for you and whatever you need, they're there for you. They also have a cafe/bar downstairs with tasty and affordable food (and beers).
This is a nice place and is well run by a lovely family who are more than happy to help out with transport and general local information. The rooms are clean and linen tidied and changed daily, breakfast is varied and good - banana pancakes a highlight! As you'll see from other reviews, if you are willing/able to drive around the area, Gusti offers free scooters. If not, this is a difficult place to stay as is far away from everything including beaches. Taxis can be arranged but become costly when on a budget. For this reason it wasn't a great choice for myself and partner as we wanted to be closer to local places. It's really not walkable as an area either due to the traffic. If you're going to rent a scooter, stay if not, it's better to stay elsewhere.
What a sweet little place this is! We stayed for 3 nights at first and came back a week later as it was such a cosy and welcoming place to stay. The rooms were tidy and there was a nice kitchen where you could hang out on lazy Bali days. My favourite was the rooftop terrace where you could see beautiful sunsets and the amazing night sky over Canggu. Renting a scooter is wise in a place like this as the taxi drivers might charge you a lot of money and the beach is not very close. Luckily you can rent one from Gusti's at a very decent price. Canggu Road is very close with its endless selection of fruit booths, little local restaurants and grocery stores but if you want to go to that fancy yoga studio or vegan café you found on the net it's not too hard to navigate yourself there on a scooter, either. Gusti, his family and the staff are all so kind and friendly that we felt at home during our stay. This was the best accommodation during our trip in Bali. Thank you so much Gusti!! We'll definitely come back some day. …
Very good spot to stay in Bali. Close to many good food spots for Indonesian cuisine and a fruit market close by as well. Gusti is super cool took me and my friend to a good babi ghuling spot the night we arrived which is a must to have if ur in bali. He was able arrange transport to all the places we needed to get to that we couldn't with a scooter. Would stay again when I return.
Me and my friend stayed at Gusti Homestay from the 25-28th of Jan. We arrived late but Gusti still picked us up from the airport. We had missed our booking by one day but Gusti sorted us out^^ we had a wonderful room in the second floor with 2 big beds, tv, bathroom and A/C. Breakfast is included and you get something different every day:) if you have any requests don't feel bad asking;) Kerobokan is not really a tourist town, very busy and not much to do. So while you are there I recommend that you rent scooters or a driver from Gusti to get around. The scooters are free if you stay for more than 3 days( only one, so if you are more you have to pay, but very cheap). Gusti will help you with everything! We took the scooters out almost everyday and saw Jepun beach, turtle sanctuary, Kuta and Uluwatu. All recommended and easy to get to. We used GPS on our phones to get around and it worked really well. Gusti and his family and staff made us feel so welcomed and comfortable. I recommend this place to everyone who's looking for a cheap place to stay with amazing staff and a great time :)thank you Gusti! …
