About Us, Welcome to the ECO – friendly Hotel Uyah Amed and Spa and our Café Garam. Café Garam, which means Salt Café, is part of Hotel Uyah Amed and Spa Resort, which we have translated as Salt Lodge Amed. Garam is the Indonesian – and Uyah the Balinese word for salt. Mid 2000 we were sitting in Amed and discussed the tremendous changes in the area due to the growing tourism. More and more salt production fields were left unused or sold by their owners to be used for bungalows etc. Since we did not like the idea that the traditional salt production would disappear in the near future we worked out our plan to preserve this tradition for the people of Amed as well as for interested foreigners. In order to combine the development of tourism with the traditional lifestyle we decided to build this hotel and café around the salt production fields and use the salt production as our motto. We strive to preserve the traditional salt production by promoting it as point of interest for foreigne

A very, very lovely place to stay. The place is big and it is as one with the nature. I think the photos do not do the hotel's justice. Place is spacious and just very relaxing. I got a room quite close to the beach-- literally less than 30 seconds and I could stand on the sand. It's truly wonderful. The restaurant is great, I was so happy with the food I didn't even bother too much to go find anther place to eat during my 4 days stay. Staffs are welcoming and helpful. They helped me to arrange a ride to the airport. It's hard to imagine what they can do even better. The only thing is that in my last day, the wifi didnt work very well. And I was told because they use solar power or something, if i had a shower too later, there might be no hot water. But that didnt bother me too much. And they have a very cute, playful cat : )

Good morning, I'll start from the start. Arrived at reception and there was nobody to be seen. Dirty! After 7 mins we were greeted by a bell boy I think. Very angry clenched jaw. Not sure what was up with him. Then finally we were greeted by an official. Quite a cold greeting. Explained rules. Reached our room after 30 mins. A ocean view room. All we could see were trees. This was not the room we booked. Not the pictures as described. I voiced my displeasure however the manager was not even onsite to how the buisness was being run. Adaptor No Cutlery No Water pressure No Hot water No. Workers everywhere just sitting on their phones Yes! Bathroom mold is in a dangerous state. The grass hasn't been cut in weeks. The paths are dirty Tools left around the gardens. Fish ponds are green and haven't been turned to circulate. I doubt the fish survived. Next I ventured to have a game of pool. We were told this was 5000. I nearly fell over but I started seeing the whole picture. They were here to gouge every penny out of you regardless of the sour taste it left in you mouth and how we we are being treated. At night there are packs of dogs roaming barking and carrying on all night! I'm now at breakfast and I did mange to get a coffee earlier than breakfast time. Small blessings. To the manager. Please don't leave some generic answer. You have been notified before about the establishment . Maybe you should be onsite to hear your guests concerns.

The place is lovely and simple. I recently stayed here with my teenage daughter and it checked all of the boxes; nothing spectacular, but nothing to complain about. The pool was refreshing; people warm. There weren’t a lot of people staying here when we were here so it felt a little quiet, but we enjoyed ourselves tremendously. We had massages and dove everyday. The divers were wonderful; however, their English was limited which made me a little nervous because my daughter was just beginning, but it didn’t impact the wonderful experiences we had underwater. All in all it was good enough - we are in Bali how could it not be?!!!

The property actually is nice but seems not well maintained. The staff also not so friendly and attentive especially the lady who in charge at reception (she said she is 6 months pregnant). I can see her different approach while handling foreigner and local guest which is not an excuse. We pay the same price and even spent more sometimes.

A well set out comfortable hotel in the diving hotspot of Amed. Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and comfortable. There is a bar, restaurant and two pools. Dive shop on site and they have a boat. Dive sites out front were good.

Ideal for wheelchair guests. All areas accessible by ramps. Staff extremely friendly and professional. Good breakfast selection Only problem for disabled guests is the difficulty to enter either of the pools. Non slip tiles and a grab bar on the steps , with no slope at the bottom of the steps would solve this problem

Photos are quite outdated. Appreciate covid times have been hard but many aspects are in need of a refresh- from the ripped pool tables, chipped tiles in the pool, bed sheets with holes. Our shower in the first room barely had water coming through the head. The grounds are massive and I’m sure they’ve had better times, but we’ve had better quality accommodation in Amed this trip for c£5 less a night . Tried to hire snorkelling equipment from the in house dive centre- was double the price we’d paid down the road.

Having reviewed this property on various booking websites regarding this property We chose this resort Having stayed in 4 different hotel/resorts on our travels on our first trip to Bali I think people should be aware that lots of accommodation have had few if any customers over the last 2 and a half years This particular property was one that appears to have suffered more than most This resort looks like its enjoyed better times Compound that with the effects of Covid over the years its suffered I sincerely hope the resort can recover and flourish again Excellent Beachfront 2 swimming pools Approx 20 +bungalows with sea views and front seating area Our room Was in need of TLC Ripped mosquito netting over bed No television No fridge No coffee/tea making facilities The staff were all very friendly, and I felt sorry for them when we decided to leave the following morning I hope the owner can invest to get this some way to its previous splendour Must say that the price they quoted on arrival should be greatly reduced compared to a resort further up the road

Response from I Nyoman Sudiana, General Manager at Hotel Uyah Amed & Spa Resort
Responded 19 Aug 2022
Dear Valued guest, You visited our Hotel in May 2022, at a time when, as you correctly noted, we had suffered from 2 ½ very difficult years due to the Corona/Covid crisis. During the crisis we did not lay off a single employee, but continued to employ everyone with half the working hours and a reduced salary. That was not easy and quite costly but social responsibility is important to us. As soon as it became clear, that foreign tourists were allowed to visit Bali again early April, we started a repair and maintenance program to bring our facilities and our large garden in shape again. During your visit in May our program was not completed yet and we are very sorry for any inconveniences caused. However, we are a bit surprised that you complain about missing TV, fridge, coffee/tea making facilities especially since you reviewed our property on various booking websites. We never had or claimed to have TV, fridge, coffee/tea making facilities in our bungalows since we think they do not fit into our concept. Fridges and electrical kettles require (and waste) a lot of energy. We have two little fridges for people with special needs, which we usually keep in our family villas for families with children. They can be moved and provided (on request) for guest who need to keep medicine etc. in a cool place. We have a large TV at our salt bar for guest that want to watch the news or sports etc. Hotel Uyah Amed & SPA Resort strives to provide excellent services to our customers in a responsible manner that takes environmental aspects, safety and social responsibility into account. We are aware that we are not perfect and we cannot meet all the expectations of all our guest but we also do not advertise facilities or services that we do not provide. We want to avoid false expectations to avoid unnecessary disappointment. We do not like disappointed guest! We strive to improve our facilities and services and are therefore open for all inputs. Thank you!

Let's suffice to say: I wouldn't even look for anywhere else next time I travel to Amed. They have spacious and very clean rooms with beautiful high ceilings, well lit, well ventilated and stunning views of the sea, two great pools, nicely maintained gardens and a top-quality dive center. Location is somewhat central and there are nice cafes and restaurants, bars and clubs around (as well as their own restaurant). Staff are very helpful and they were also super flexible with our changes in booking. Thank you Hartmuth and team for the wonderful time. See you on our next trip.
