This place always makes us feel welcome and relaxed. We love staying here as the staff are very nice and the location is less crowded than the usual tourist traps. It's best to rent a scooter to get around, but it's definitely worth it to check out the local eateries.

Walking into Life in Amed, is like walking into paradise. The garden and pool area is picturesque. The property and gardens are well maintained. We stayed in a cottage and then moved to a 2 bedroom villa. The cottage is clean and cosy, with pool views. I love the villa, it is so spacious and beautifully presented. It has ocean views and a private garden. The staff are friendly and helpful. We dined at the restaurant on several occasions. The food is delicious and healthy. I love the 2 friendly house cats. There is an amazing spot to snorkel, from the beach near the hotel. My husband and I were surprised by the amount of coral and marine life at this location. It is spectacular, with very few people snorkelling. I noticed a sign at Lipah Beach which read "the best snorkelling spot", I'd have to disagree. The best snorkelling spot is near Life in Amed, by far!

Life in Amed is a great little boutique hotel located directly on the beach. You can literally jump out of bed and into the water every morning. Or if you prefer the pool, it’s also an option. The staff is super friendly and always willing to help. The food was also great (make sure you ask about making your Nasi Goreng “Balinese style”). Would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Oh and the cats are super cuddly.

Life @ Amed has been our first choice for accomodation since we watched it being built many years ago. This was our first trip back in 5 years and whilst we were happy with the Sunset Villa on the beachfront...we notice that the staff were not as good at room cleaning, reception and dining room as previous trips. The breakfast is less than what we were used to and when we were the only guests on the first day... I was told there was now no smoking in the open air restaurant and was relegated to the "naughty" corner outside at the bale benong with no chair to sit on. That was the only night we bought happy hour drinks at the hotel...so, they missed out on 3 people buying meals and drinks on site. The pool needs fixing with broken surround tiles due to age..it's just looking tired. For the increase prices post covid, we had hoped for a better holiday at this boutique hotel.

It took its time to get to Amed from the airport, but jaggu was worth it! What a place! We raised a large family of 12, six adults and six children. The houses were perfect, with great bathrooms, good beds and generally clean and nice. Own water tanks in the rooms, sarongs, anti-mouth and good service at all times. We felt safe and well all the time and got help with everything we needed. We had to go with local fishermen out to learn about their local fishing technique, it was amazing! The children also have great dining in a lovely pool area. They decorate each day with fresh flowers in the water baths. They lift the place with the little details. We also attended yoga classes, where they arranged for 4 children (7-12 years old).
Maybe most importantly, snorkeling right outside the hotel is absolutely indescribable! Crystal clear water and an infinite number of different fish and turtles and more. Love it!
This is a real place.
We will be happy to come back!

Gorgeous boutique hotel. We stayed in the three bedroom villa. The location is perfect: directly on the beach where we could snorkelling directly in the sea very rich of beatiful coral and fish. The quite and easy to reach location is perfect for couple and families. The staff is excellent and is coordinated by Eca that is very professional. Very good the restaurant.

This hotel at the far south east end of the Amed Beach area is far enough from the dive shops and tourist restaurants to be an oasis of older style Bali. The single most important fact visitors must understand is the hotel is right on the edge of the beach but this is a working beach packed full of fishing boats, locals and their families and is not a great choice for sunbathers. In the pre-dawn, the fishermen push the boats out into the surf and within a few hours haul them back up the beach using motor winches and muscle power. Dogs bark, cocks crow and you'll understand why earplugs are provided in the hotel rooms. I was up before first light every morning chatting to the fishermen and photographing the spectacle of dozens of spider-like boats being dragged up with their load of small mackerel, The families were friendly and many spoke English. Yes, there's a little touting of snorkelling or other boats trips but it's the way the fishermen can supplement their falling income as fish stocks diminish. We were twice invited to families' houses to eat and we enjoyed the atmosphere immensely. If you want to feel isolated from locals and sit on white sand beaches drinking overpriced cocktails this is not the place for you. The beach is clean but littered with pieces of coral and fishing great. The waves can be rough and there's both coral and big rocks underfoot. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful but it's not 5*. The food was reasonable but not great and it's a short distance to restaurants in the next bays, many of which will pick up and bring you home. The countryside around can be absolutely stunning and you'll not see any tourists unless you go the famous temple nearby which was utter hell with thousands of foreigners taking selfies and posed shots for their social media accounts.

This small hotel is lovely. About 5 cottages around a lovely small pool. Flowers everywhere and the beach steps away. The traditional cottages themselves are great and for families have fun sleeping lofts. Food is good and the service is very friendly. Only note would be to make the snorkeling process clearer for guests. We ended up have to bargain for snorkeling equipment on the beach which led to bad, unsafe equipment and endless sales pitches for days.

We had a total of 10 nights - 3 private nights and 7 nights in connection with a yoga retreat - and we had a particularly fantastic experience. The rooms and surroundings of the hotel are beautifully decorated and nicely furnished. There is a nice pool at the hotel - and a nice coral bed in the sea just outside the hotel. The staff are SO welcoming, friendly and ready to help - whether it's a trip out to experience Bali, a local boat trip or just a cold juice to be brought to the pool, they do it with a smile . The owner is extremely nice and can tell a lot about the local area and the culture. There are only a few small details that you could wish for better as a guest at "Life in Amed" - for example, that the membrane on their octopus rings is removed. We will definitely come back next time we go to Bali. Thank you SO MUCH for a wonderful experience and a good start to our journey! Sampai jumpa again ❣️

Great place but not for the light sleeping as the roosters just next door (and on the premises) will start as early as 2am and sometimes not stop until 7 or 8am…
The place itself is great, the service is good, pool is good, yoga classes are nice, food is great and staff is very kind and helpful, but we also chose the place for getting a good nights sleep.
After travelling in Malaysia, Sumatra and Bali for a month with new sounds to get used to at night in every place, this place has so far topped the list of stubborn roosters filled with Duracell batteries (keeps going and going and going).
The cottages are nice but also very warm - especially the beds upstairs are hard to keep below 30 degrees Celsius even with the AC on.

Apologies, I did not see your question... we are in a safe zone here.. no snakes, that is silly press, not reality. Our days are normal, the tremors have stopped for now..we are behind another mountain and also have protected our rooms and restaurant area and many supplies and water on hand.. In Amed as a safe zone are 3000 evacuees from the slopes of Mt Agung.. spread throughout the area.. a fast boat to Gili will leave our village on Oct 20th and boats should resume shortly after that. We have no idea when the volcano may erupt, for now the biggest dilemma is to find a way guests feel safe enough to return after all the sensational press reports that were not entirely true...
Apologies if we missed you this time..
Email the hotel directly either through their website lifebali or call 0363 23152 but an email would be better it cannot be posted here do an engine search. There are drivers in the village of the hotel that collect all their guests.
The little cottages are actually quite roomy and really comfortable. Work fabulously with 2 adults + 2 kids. They have air con and fans. Its such a friendly place if you had one or two things for a fridge they'd probably store them or you can easily order ice / icebucket.
We stay at the Villa Paradiso because its got a lounge (with rather basic couch), outdoor dining and lots of space. You're paying for the extra room, but it does have a tiny fridge. We move the fridge in to the lounge area. I wouldn't pay extra to upgrade just for a fridge, but I would highly recommend the Paradiso because its so lovely! The Paradiso is the better of the 2 bigger villas.
There are more places to choose from in the Amed area.
