Bayu Cottages is a charming collection of seven well appointed suites searching beautiful ocean-view rooms on a hillside overlooking the charming fishing village of Amed - Lipah on Bali's southeast coast. Private stairs across the street lead down to the beach where brilliantly coloured fish, lazy-swimming turtles, fascinating coral and exotic sea life add a touch of adventure to your vacation. A holiday at Bayu Cottages provides an escape to a more traditional Bali, where you can indulge in an authentic experience of this island paradise.

Stayed for 4 nites and thoroughly enjoyed our time here.
The whole complex looks like it has been renovated in the last 12 months as our room was fresh and clean.
Bed was very comfortable , our room had a separate sofa bed / lounge , room safe , desk and the aircon was icy cool and the wifi worked very well too.
Bathrooms were huge and there was plenty of fluffy towels which was nice.
Most rooms enjoy excellent views and there is seating on the balconies to take it all in.
Breakfast was excellent , there is 8/9 choices on offer.
Staff were excellent too.
Bayu is a little out from Amed although you can hire scooters , it is amongst some excellent restaurants and the beach is literally across the road...would definitely stay again.

An amazing small resort with beautiful views. Everything about this place is top class. From our reservation to our final day check-out Amanda and her staff were super friendly and looked after us wonderfully. The rooms are spacious, super clean, great air conditioning and all have seaviews. The bathroom had a wonderful smell everytime you walked into it with good water pressure and hot water. Linens and towels were definitely 5* something you do not normally get in a hotel of this size and price. There is a great little pool in front of the restaurant with the same views as the rest of the hotel. The restaurant has a good choice of food which was freshly cooked and there was a selection of alcoholic beverages available. Breakfast was great with several options and you could add extras at low prices. This is also a pet friendly hotel and they do everything to make sure your dog has what is needed. It was my partner’s birthday and after breakfast they surprised him with a birthday cake with candles. Once again well done for the delightful stay and we will be back for sure.

Absolutely wonderful location with fantastic views of the sea - took many pictures of both sunrises and sunsets. In a great location and we walked to dinner each night. We also walked to neighbouring fishing villages for meals and massage.

Our room and ensuite were spacious. We had a lovely porch with fantastic seaviews. Breakfast was included and delicious! Our room was cleaned and tidied daily (with the option to reuse towels and bedding for environmental purposes).

The beach was just over the road with easy access - a lovely black sandy beach as opposed to the main Amed beach which is full of pebbles and very little to no sand. Fabulous snorkelling just off-shore and many options to hire a boat and go out further.

We'd most definitely return!

I cant speak highly enough of this place. Initially I had booked for two nights but I ended up staying for 5 it was that good! Firstly, if you are booking ahead for Amed be sure to read current reviews as many resorts are really run down because of COVID with no guests but still selling rooms on booking.com etc so just make sure there are recent reviews. This place is amazing! Right across from arguably the best beach on the Amed Coast, Lipah Beach. You can snorkel in the coral reef directly off the beach and it is amazing. I had the Seaview suite - room 7 and had panoramic ocean views, a magnificent balcony and my room was huge! The staff are really kind and breakfast is included daily. Honestly don’t look anywhere else.

The restaurant is very good and the kitchen make Balinese specialities. Strongly recommend Ayam Kecap, beef rendang and ayam betutu (order one day in advance.). The view is great during daytime overlooking Lipah beach and Gung Agung. Staff is fantastic as well and very friendly. We have visited this restaurant every time we come to Lipah and the quality is consistently high.

The hotel is a bit further than centre Amed, so not much is within walking distance, but is located in a great spot for snorkelling.

Room is nice overall but not big, nice blue and white oceanic theme and comes with a balcony. Bed is clean and nice, but some towels smelled a bit dusty.

Breakfast though was really meh, banana pancake is your best shot or maybe fried rice and noodles (I haven’t tried, too heavy for my liking).

Overall it’s not a bad option for Amed.

It was fantastic . The hotel rooms were beautiful and spotless. The staff were wonderful. Breakfast was delicious. The balcony of our room was a spectacular view . To get to the beach was simply a matter of crossing the road , and down some steps to Lipah beach. And the garden surrounds the hotel were beautifully maintained. You are to be congratulated Skyla , it was a joy and in our 3 weeks on Bali were made special having enjoyed your hospitality.. My heartfelt thanks

We have just returned from a weeks vacation in Bali. It was our sixth trip to this lovely island but we had never before traveled to the East, and so Amed was a destination we knew little about.
We booked a small hotel of six rooms called Bayu Cottages through the internet. Marcel, the owner of the hotel corresponded with us on several ocassions giving us pointers about what to bring to Amed and how to find his hotel. He was incredibly helpful in this way and his replies to emails were very prompt. We felt like we were going to stay in his personal home by the end of our email correspondence.
We did not pay a lot of money for our room at Bayu so we were not expecting all the trimmings of a 5 star hotel but what we go far exceeded our expectations. We were greeted warmly by the staff at Bayu who took us to our room. We were travelling as a couple with our 17 year old son. Marcel had promised us a double room with an extra bed, with a sea view. We had all of that along with an amazing 180 degree view of the sea. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, their english was good and the standard of cleanliness at this small hotel was excellent. The trimmings of freshly cut flowers on our pillows and in the bathrom was an appreciated touch and the way the rooms were cleaned and tended to was excellent. The breakfast which was included in the small price for the rooms was generous and the conversation with the cook and front of house staff while breakfast was being prepared was fun. These people certainly make you feel at home.
Although the pool area was small and there were only 4 loungers available for guests, you never felt uncomfortable lying at the pool because the surroundings were so welcoming. During our time in Amed (3 days, which incidentally was a little too short) we took a look at other hotels thinking we may want to stay somewhere else on another vacation to this area. At the end of this exercise we all agreed we would by pass the more elaborate, larger hotels anyday to return to the home comforts of Bayu Cottages which did not pretend to be anything they were not, but concentrated on genuine hospitality with clean welcoming rooms for a great price. Well done to Marcel and the Bayu team. We shall return!!!

This was my first time in BALI and Bayu was our first for my wife, Katrin and 3-year-old, Prasad Ruhern. It was a nice place.

It is very true that you can see the ocean even when you are having your bath in the washroom. It is a quiet place far form the hustle and bustle of human lives. No one harassed us to buy or try anything.

The balcony of Bayu is the biggest peaceful TV on earth. I could just sit and watch the ocean waves move in slow motion. My son enjoyed the ocean. The sight of naked boys thrilled him. He joined them too. He enjoyed himself in the heat. The place was hot and if you have young children, then you need to be constantly be with them. The balcony walls are low but we didnt have any problems though.

The food was simply superb. I believe Bayu has some fine chefs in Bali. Their cooking was the best so far as we toured Bali. The breathtaking scenery from the restaurant was simply captivating. My family enjoyed the swimming pool as well.

Overall a nice place to be with your friends and loved ones. I loved the place and Marcel did his best from the very first time I contacted him.

On our last day, we saw some dolphins from a distance. What a way to end the holidays in Bayu. A great place hidden in the east.

My wife and I have stayed numerous times in Amed and on our last vist we decided to change our regular accomodation to try Bayu Cottages. We cannot speak more highly of this beautiful gem located in one of the most beautiful parts of Bali. This is truely a wonderful place to stay with a unique mix of European management and Balinese charm. Staff are excellent and the rooms are exceptional for the price. The pool area is lovely and then there is just a short walk to the beach which boasts 'easy snorkelling' suitable even for those who may not be strong swimmers. The coral and fish life is abundant. For those who do not have their own equipment, snokels and flippers etc can be easily hired from one of the friendly locals.
