Definitely not impressed. They made us settle in a room and then they moved us to another one as they confused us with a different guest. Funny fact is that none asked us who we were or anything they just took us to the room. Of course, mistakes can happen, I totally get it. But, as a business owner myself, if I make a mistake I’ll try to offer something to my clients. They said they were sorry but that’s it. Not a treatment I would expect from a resort like this.
We had an amazing stay at Balila. We loved the location with Mt Agung on one side and the sea on the other side. We had views of the sea from our room. The resort is really well designed and comfortable. The staff were super friendly and helpful. It's easy to explore the surrounding area if you rent a motorbike. It takes 20 mins to ride to Amed. The food in the restaurant is also very good.
Balila - Team is always in my heart. Through their lovely caring, these days were the best I had on Bali. Altogether I spent 10 weeks on this magical island. I feel very happy to experience this amazing place located between the volcano and ocean energies. Million thx and greetings to all very beautiful souls who are involved in this warm-hearted and being in perfect harmony with nature project.
Absolutely fantastic resort with amazing rooms and food. The premier rooms are fantastic. The resort has a Shala for yoga practice. The food is vegan / veggie and gorgeous. I would definitely go back.
I live and work in Bali and sometimes one need to take a breath and just breathe. Even if you live in Bali. The special and peaceful energy of Balila Beach Resort is hard to put in words. Every time i come here i leave refreshed and fully charged! Its a great place for people who need to take a step back and be for themselves far off from any crowded tourist places. Snorkeling right in front of the resort is even better then on some recommended spots! Not even mentioning the amazing staff who are more then helpful with anything you will need and the amazing owner with her great visions of sustainable hospitality.
Absolutely stunning. This off-the-beaten path eco-resort is as beautiful as it is well-designed. Every detail in this peaceful place is well thought out, from the intricate tile in the outdoor (private) rain shower to the garden outside the meditation/yoga room that overlooks the ocean. Don't miss the evening gong meditation or delicious meals cooked by the staff that make you feel like you're family.
Lovely staff and amazing food cooked with fresh ingredients and by locals, absolutely fantastic! The whole property is build with the highest ecological and sustainable standards. The outdoor bathroom was a great experience. The view of the volcano Agung from the pool is memorable. It is also recommended to get up very early to see the sunrise behind Rinjani.
During our 3 week trip through Bali we stayed also 3 nights at Balila. All in all it was a wonderful stay! Our bungalow was lovely designed with a big bathroom and an open shower. We really enjoyed also our view at the open sea from our terrace. Moreover the staff is really, really, really lovely and helpful and the food was always freshly prepared and incredible delicious!!! There is just one little disadvantage: This paradise is a bit away from other spots. The next beach, the Amed beach, is 15min by scooter (very bumpy streets) or 20 min by walk at the beach away. Actually a scooter is a must have to enjoy the place and explore the surroundings. Alternatively, the owner shuttle you, if you need transport.
To be honest I won’t write a review about the hotel by itself cause we had to change of hotel and did not stay there. The fact is that no review or description of the hotel says that there is a water treatment center at less than 100m from the hotel. A continuous noise that we could not support, so after arriving we had to cancel the reservation and find another hotel in Amed. And the staff asked us to pay for 1 night, no matter we stayed or not... Anyway, the room looked pretty clean and the view is incredible. It’s true that the hotel is a far from the city and snorkeling spots, if you rent a scooter it will not be a problem!
My rating of Balila Beach Resort is 3.5. Being an eco resort, don’t expect hot water for showers or air-conditioning. I stayed at the Lily Room which has a terrace and hammock at the back, offering views of the beach. There is a mosquito net over the bed which is advisable to keep closed at all times. Not because of the mosquitoes but because of the many big beetles, bees, bugs and lizards that fly/roam freely. Of the 7 nights I stayed, the resort had no running tap water overnight on 2 nights. This was very quickly fixed by morning. The staff are extremely friendly and the kitchen serves up a storm. Food, juices, smoothies are EXCELLENT! Owner/Manager’s Dad came around at lunch on 2 occasions and tried to sell Balinese rings made of “special metals and blessed stones”. He was a little insistent at wanting to get me to try on the rings. All said, it is one of the better resorts you will find if you’re planning a stay in Amed. Tucked away on a little hill, you get great views of the beach at sunrise and of Mount Agung at sunset. Balila offers a good chill-out pool deck and a yoga shala for a workout. It’s a good place to get away from it all - WiFi only available at the restaurant but still very patchy. It’s ideal if you want to disconnect and enjoy nature! …
