I was looking for a secluded getaway that had a pool with a view and Batu Tangga did not disappoint! The view out over the ocean and to Lombok was stunning and able to be seen from every level. The pool is decent sized and a good temperature, though being an outdoor pool bugs do have a habit of joining you for a swim. The rooms were lovely and clean, although some of the slat blinds don't close properly. The common areas are spacious and tidy, and the kitchen has a range of equipment if you want to cook yourself - however I recommend ordering food through the Villa instead. Sari was a wonderful host and an amazing cook! Her chicken and grilled fish in particular were delicious. Sari was also fantastic for helping to organise transport, a snorkelling guide, and a massage. I will note that this villa is not accessible, so I do not recommend for anyone with mobility restrictions/issues. While you could get around on the top floor with some determination, you would not be able to access the second floor nor the outside pool. I will definitely be returning with friends whenever we can organise a group trip for snorkelling and diving.

Our group of 5 just returned from a wonderful stay at Batu Tangga. It's a stunning villa with mesmerizing views at every level, fantastic pool and quality furnishings. The kitchen is well equipped and bedrooms were all super comfortable. There's a handy street level entrance or you can enter via the carpark with stairs down to the pool level. The wrap around ocean views are amazing especially with the spectacle of all the local fishing boats returning with their catch each morning. Sari and staff were very helpful and efficient in providing us with reasonably priced motorbikes and other supplies. Amed is our favourite getaway in Bali and this villa is a great way to experience it!

Villa Batu Tangga is a bed bug infested nightmare, me, my baby son and wife all got bitten. We stayed only 2 nights and at first I didn’t think too much of the tiny bites which I noticed on my son the second day, but as I have learned now from the doctor, bedbug bites are painless at first, but later after few days turn into painful itchy fluid filled large blisters. The view is great, and this vila was probably great before as the reviews say, but unfortunately villa wasn’t cleaned before our arrival, because the owner didn’t even inform his staff they had anyone checking in, the staff started cleaning the villa when we arrived and that was only sweeping the floors with brooms for 15 minutes, the owner unfortunately is also a liar and doesn’t take any responsibility for the infestation. After reading a review I left him on another website he immediately contacted me and requested I remove the review and made some ridiculous claims where we got the bites, and completely denied it could have been from the bed bugs in his villa, but the funny thing is he immediately blocked his calendar for the villa for the next 40 days. Lets hope he fixes the problem, but if he doesn't want to admit the problem and take any responsibility for the infestation and confirm what actions he will take to fix it, then this villa is not worth the risk of having hideous permanent scars form the bed bugs!

It was like a dream, after all the hustle and bustle from the South of Bali and Ubud, ending up in this amazing home was a delightful experience. Six people only having to worry about what to order to Sally for lunch and dinner. The rooms, the decoration, everything was perfect. The pool and that view were only the peak of the iceberg. Thank you Sally. Gracias Sally.

One of a few times when everything looks better than in pictures. Villa is located near fishing village Amed and it is complicated express in words how kind and welcome are people here. If we just stayed in Seminyak or Kuta we never knew what Bali is in reality. We really experienced authentic Bali and balinese people. Villa is gorgeous with infinity pool, clean and well facilitated but what it makes outstanding is Sari. All fives days she took care of us, her cooking skills are excellent, she has superb sense of humour and we all loved to have a chat with her and find out more about balinese culture, religion, daily life and their habits. She made all arrangements for the activities and everything went smooth. Many thanks Sari from all of us. We also invited Sari and her family for a dinner and had a great evening together. Nature around Amed is beautiful and you will not meet crowds of tourists here. This is absolutely different Bali than Nusa Dua or Kuta from all points of you. We were travelling 3 families (7 persons).

Four of us stayed here last week. We were met on arrival by Sari, the wonderful housekeeper and cook. She made sure we had everything we needed and nothing was a problem for her! She is an excellent cook, and being able to stay home for dinner without having to cook, was a real treat! She and her helpers made sure the villa was spotless each day. Would definitely recommend.

Bali is amazing and this Villa with Allen, Sari, and staff greatly contributed to my experience. Sari was the house mom and onsite cook that provided 3 home-cooked meals a day if you so wished. There is a menu with cost of items to choose from. The views from the villa were wonderful to say the least. Sari looked after us and gave us good recommendations for how to enjoy our time there. I really appreciated her care and hospitality. This property can sleep up to 10 between 3 bedrooms; there is a full bath in each room. I love this place so much I'd have kept it a secret but the staff and experience was so wonderful they deserve recognition. I hope to be back sooner than later!

Recently stayed at this villa for 3 nights as a group of 2 familiies, it is approx 3 hour drive from the airport, but the driver arranged through the villa was there to greet us on arrival. The villa itself is clean, extremely spacious and beautiful, with an amazing view and a well stocked booze fridge! Sari was fantastic, she arranged breakfast and dinner on our request, and the in villa menu is very reasonable and very delicious. There are a number of restaurants within easy walking distance, and a beautiful snorkelling beach just 5 minutes walk away, with some of the best snorkelling I have ever experienced. Great villa, and staff, we would definitely return.

Stayed here with a group of friends for 6 nights. The Villa is around a 3 hour drive from the airport but it's worth it to get away from the heavily populated tourist areas and for the spectacular views from the house. We were met by the house keeper Sari when we arrived and she made us feel immediately at home. Once inside the views are breathtaking. The large open living area on the top level is wonderful. With a hammock and couches as well as a large dining table. The kitchen fridge is well stocked with beer and wine. We went swimming off the rocks most days and the pool itself also has stunning views. We also went snorkeling off the beach and had daily massages. Both of which Sari can organize for you. I throughly recommend having Sari cook for you too. Her food is absolutely amazing. Next time I come back I'll be in the kitchen with her learning the recipes. We had the suckling pig one night for a special occasion and invited Sari and her friend to join us as there was so much food. This Villa is amazing but Sari makes it truly special. It's also nice to see the money you spend going back into the community directly rather than through a big organization. I will stay here again for sure. Recommend for family groups and friends. The stairs are quite steep leading down to different floors and the pool so probably not appropriate for people with mobility issues or young families unless you're willing to supervise all the time! But this is a lovely little town and well worth the drive from the airport. As a side note, we had a sight issue with responsiveness from the owners when booking and sorting travel arrangements but I understand there were extenuating circumstances and they are usually very responsive. It certainly won't put us off traveling there again.

We loved the villa as well as the friendliness, hospitality and great Indonesian meals provided by Sari. We spent a full week at the villa and enjoyed every day. It was low season and relatively quiet in Amed but when staying in the villa it will not be very different in peak season as it is a quiet area with small scale hotels and villas. Its stunning top-of-the-hill location with beautiful sea views on the Street of Lombok and a large garden with private pool creates a great luxury experience. The villa sleeps 10 and has three bed rooms, two large sized (4 beds each) which are downstairs and have air-conditioning and mosquito nets for the two double beds. And one additional bedroom upstairs with double bed. All rooms have ensuite bathrooms. You merely live at the poolside or on the top level of the villa, which is a well decorated all open living area with traditional roof. Very nice sea views from here and two large fans to bring some cooling although the continuous sea breeze makes it quite comfortable. It is wonderful to see the traditional fisher boats in the morning. It is also nice to watch one of the plenty DVD’s in this open area (with flatscreen TV) at night, while hearing the geckos fight, seeing bats fly by or experience an occasional thunder storm. Breakfast and dinner can be provided by Sari based on a menu that is available in the villa or based on personal requests. Prices, also for drinks that can be taken from the fridge in the villa, are very reasonable – in fact quality of the food would justify significant higher pricing (which statement I might regret during a future visit). Transfers from and to the villa were arranged by Allen and were comfortable and perfectly on time. The communication in the booking process as well as to arrange the transfer worked perfect for us. Sari was waiting for us on arrival and has been a great host during the week. Sari is also able to arrange trips/visits, etc. During our visit she helped us arrange return fast ferry tickets to Gili, staying one night on Gili Trawangan (recommended!). Sea access from the villa is possible but not there is no beach and the rock/stair combination is not very convenient. We did not use the access but went to the small beaches at walking distance or the nicer beaches like Jemeluk where there is good snorkeling. It is also the place where the fast boat to Gili departs/arrives. Any downsides? The villa is not close to the main cultural sights of Bali and it is quite a drive to those places. We did not really enjoy the traffic in Bali and (observing the roads and traffic conditions) did not choose to go for rented scooter tours with the kids, so it is worth combining the trip from/to the airport with some cultural highlights like Ubud or one of the palaces. We did visit Nusa Penida (boat from Padang Bay), but this is also at least 2 x 1,5 hours by car to get to the harbor. And the villa is so nice that it is actually a waste of time to spend half the day in a car. But the sea and the diving are so nice in Amed that there was not a direct desire to go for car trips anyway. We arranged our diving with Baliku on advice of Allen and this was a perfect advice. One of the best diving centers I have ever experienced.
