What is great about the Blue Star is how wonderfully welcoming and helpful the staff are. Iluh and her team treated us like family. When my daughter got sick, Iluh moved heaven and earth to help, driving her to the doctor late at night and coming to rub some aromatic oil into her stomach. She can also arrange any activities you want to do at a good price. The accommodation is clean and pleasant, the food is very good, and the location, right on the coral reef, is unbeatable. Foodwise, the menu is very large and do not miss the carrot and coconut soup, the coconut pancakes, and the homemade coconut ice cream. The snorkeling is the best in the area directly in front of the Blue Star. If you like snorkeling, relaxing on the beach, eating and drinking well, the Blue Star is

My husband and I loved our stay here. Out of all the hotels in this small bay, it is the best location because the snorkeling spot is directly in front of the hotel (also, this hotel is directly below the best place to watch a sunset, at Sunset Bar). This means guests also get the best sun bed spots, too! The owner was incredibly friendly, as well as the rest of the staff. They were able to book our Gili Fast Boat tickets for us and were always available to answer any questions we had. We had a spacious room that was in the back of the property. Everything was clean and comfortable.

We stayed here for three nights and it was amazing. All the staff are warm, friendly and go out of their way to help. There were a few snags with our room, e.g. air conditioning not functioning properly and a leaking basin, but they were attended to immediately after being reported. Blue Star is located right on the beach at the beautiful Jemeluk Bay. I do not snorkel, but according to my friends it is amazing - lots to see very close to the shore. For the sun intolerant like me there are sunbeds available under the trees, which is great for watching the world go by. Staff are at hand all the time for ordering drinks or a bite to eat. We ate at their restaurant twice and the food was really good and cheap. Hope to return here someday for a longer stay. Highly recommended!!!

We are reviewing Blue Star as a 3 star hotel. Blue Star was great! The staff at Blue Star went over and beyond our expectations everyday. They even watched our 1 yr old when we went snorkeling too. Wayan was our favorite as her genuine friendliness was contagious. The hotel rooms are basic as should be expected for such a reasonable rate. You just can't complain about a clean beachfront establishment for under $50 USD a night. The beach was beautiful with black volcanic sand/rocks and the reef life under the ocean just meters from the beach was spectacular. Very little bleaching was seen after the first 5 meters with loads of fish, colorful corals and calm waters. This place rocks if you like active beach locations. However if you like soft sand and large beaches then look

Blue Star hotel is a great option for the casual traveler. The people and service are wonderful. The rooms are clean, comfortable and spacious. The bathrooms are ok, with variable water pressure. The restaurant fronts a black sand beach right on a coral reef. Crawl out of bed and hang with the fishes.
