My wife and I stayed here for two nights. The Bungalow was nice you could here the waves from the beach. The bed sucked it was hard and uncomfortable. The food was good and inexpensive. Our view was breathtaking though. The staff was friendly and attentive.

We highly recommend this place!! Stairway to heaven has a top location. From your beautiful bungalow you have a view right on the ocean. It's a quiet and peacefull place to stay. With a very good breakfast. There is a very good warung from a nice family on walking distance (the Ibus sea view Warung). And if you like Italian food, there is a very good italian restaurant on walking distance aswell. The people in stairway to heaven are loving to their own property, it is well maintained and clean. Snorkling is very nice here, you can walk down the stairs to the beach and the reef is right there! You can even snorkel to a nearby japanese shipwreck from WWII.

A stunning view, and straight on the beach! A bit high for a better view! We stayed here to extend our trip, and absolutely loved the view from the sea! We could enjoy the sunrise, had a great place for snorkeling, and the Internet was good enough to work remotely! The bungalow had a mini fridge, air conditioning, stunning view, great stone bathroom (have you already showered in a cave? Stunning! ) but a lot of stairs! The restaurant can have anything you need. But I was a bit sad it wasn't a pool... That would make the place One of the best to stay! I highly recommend, and if you want the pool, have a look at Good Karma Amed, very similar, same owner, but with a infinity pool! (but no fridge and air conditioning, and more rustic. I still highly recommend that place too!)

This is a great little hotel built on sloping land to the beach. Only 5 bungalows which are spacious, nicely furnished with bamboo furniture. There is AC, a fridge, coffee & tea making facilities and a very nice bathroom with tub and separate shower with plenty of hot water. The best feature is the amazing view from a spacious terrace well furnished with chairs, coffee table and a day bed. You have wonderful views facing the sea and it is worth getting up early to watch the stunning sunrise. There is a restaurant and outside relaxing areas all with beautiful views. The breakfast size is good but a little boring. We had some snacks in the restaurant that were OK and they serve beer and arak cocktails too. The staff are very friendly and keep the rooms very clean. This hotel is well worth considering if you are staying in Amed.

One of the many beautiful places to stay in Amed beach, with great rooms, stunning view and helpful staff. The rooms are actually detached villas with separate entrance and cosy balcony. Ayan, who runs the place, is always ready to answer your questions and take care of your needs.

We have been made very welcome here - everyone is so helpful, kind and generous especially the manager, Gita. Stairway to Heaven is in a great location with private raised bungalows on a quiet beach which is great for snorkelling and swimming except around low tide. The beach has a lot of sand (some black, some gold) as well as rocks and coral and is shared with fishermen, Amed Dream (great massage there) and Aquamarine Villas. We spent 3 weeks here in August which we're told is the windy month. The wind is perfect for keeping cool when it's 29C and it seemed to reduce the number of mosquitoes as we didn't need the mosquito net curtains drawn round our bed at night but we did plug in the repellent that was provided. The wind can make the sea quite choppy sometimes though and when you get used to it the sound of wind and waves will lull you to sleep. There are 68 uneven decorated steps (Stairway to Heaven?) with railings either side up to the road so it will build up your fitness or you can stop on the way up at the restaurant where breakfast of fruit, fresh juice, eggs, pancakes, toast, tea and coffee is included in the price. There is also a menu with plenty of choice to pay for meals at any other time. The Visa card machine seems to be permanently broken, but the owner, Baba has some other accomodation around town and we went to Good Karma Bungalows to pay our room bill with a card. Otherwise it's cash only, but meals are not expensive. We could also walk easily to 10 other restaurants and Baliku Dive Centre. Stairway is marked as 1* accomodation but was only built 18 months ago so is tasteful and new - made of bamboo. The bedroom is quite big with a fridge, kettle, desk, dressing table, chairs, sofa, bedside tables, wardrobe and two big mirrors. There is a deck (balcony) with two armchairs, a table and a day bed. The ensuite bathroom is a good size too with shower over the bath as well as a big open-roof shower, big mirrors, washbasin and toilet. Our only complaint was that the bed was too hard so we borrowed a couple of mattresses from the beachside sun loungers to soften it for us.

We had a great 3 night stay at Stairway. The bungalow was neat and beautiful. An outdoor sofa facing the sea.. Sunrise can be enjoyed directly from the bed! Service was amazing and always very helpful (thanks Gita).. Food was so good too. Would happily come back some day

The accommodation is basic but has its charm! You can watch a beautiful sunrise from your terrace, snorkel, enjoy a clean beach and a calm crystal clear sea. The staff are very kind and helpful! We arranged airport pickup and boat tickets to Lombok, all fine. It's a very quiet location with a bit of a drive to Amed town but you have everything you need here!

That is such a lovely place, even the place is a bit elementary but its located in such an amazing spot directly on the beach, only 5 or 6 units there for rent, no crowd at all, its a perfect spot for snorkeling or diving, and for honey moonrs too, If you dont mind all kind of insects wondering around you and these crazy ants all over the room, it is a good stay. The room is spacious and I was amazed to find a small temple inside the room with a small pond full of fish and statues. The hotel is located in a place that you cant even get signal to your mobile, not to mension internet, the hotel provide free wifi in the dinning area which is not functioning most of the time, but it helps to stay away from the real world during your stay, the provide breakfast which is very basic but not bad, even the dinner menu is fine, you can go out and eat along the many restaurants located near by, we rented a bike from the hotel to move around

We've been here for 6 days and we experienced some good and some bad moments. Good: lovely staff, food was great, awesome envi., rlly nice place. Bad: lots of insect (mosquito, geco, caterpillar, vasp, spider anything you can think of) unfortunatelly no mosquito net. But they tried to help us by purchasing odor sticks. Also Stairway is far to any local store, around 5km. You should rlly get a motorbike or personal driver (as we did). Wayamu Korna is really sweet guy and he will try to make your time in Stairway as nice as it can possibly be. All in all it's lovely place but you'll need tuns of repellent.
