This is a lovely are to stay at, we were a big family of 15 and had booked AC rooms online from their website. On arrival the rooms were smelly and the AC hardly worked. When asked the manager on duty, he told us that the Kendra was closed due to covid and has recently re opened for visitors. This isn't a reason that should be given to your guests and we expect the rooms and facilities to be up to date if you're accepting bookings. However, if I keep this experience aside, and assume that the rooms would be very well maintained now then its a very good place to stay and the entire campus of the Vivekananda Kendra has good vibes. We even saw some peacocks in the morning roaming around. The inhouse canteen does not have good variety or food options. You should plan to eat your meals outside before coming in the Kendra.

Please note this is a review of the AC Cottage and not the entire Vivekananda Kendra Campus We booked an AC Cottage online through the email id provided on their website. The response for booking request was super professional, timely and the entire booking process itself was hassle free. This did raise my expectations that the cottage also would have been well maintained. We were provided a the AC Cottage "JAL". Unfortunately while the cottage appears nice from outside, it is in a pretty bad condition on the inside. I understand it's part of a Kendra but if you pay approx INR 5500 per day, you would expect a decent place if not something run by a professionally managed hospitality group. Let me just call out some of the drawbacks; - The cottage has a kitchen, but it is not a functional one. The dishes / glasses provided were unclean. There is no facility to heat even water on gas. The fridge is almost non functional and looks like something which would have been bought in the 80's. Forget basic amenities like Kettle, mosquito coils etc in the room - The living room is decent sized and has a TV. - The bedrooms are large with attached bathrooms. Furniture/ Beds in the room appear old and broken. You would not dare to keep anything in the cupboards. There was no trace of sanitization done; something which should be mandatory during these pandemic times. Very limited electrical sockets; in fact just one in the bedrooms. And that would be used to plug in "All Out" because of the multitude of mosquitoes in the room. You could see some of the smaller insects crawling on the beds, generally the ones which are attracted to light. - We had paid for extra beds. The attendant just came in and dropped the mattress in the room. The beddings provided seemed to be unwashed and old. We had to make the bed ourselves. But considering the pandemic situation, it did not give us any confidence that the beddings/ mattresses were sanitized or fresh ones. - There were no towels provided, which did not make much of a difference considering that we would not have used them anyways considering the hygiene factor. - Bathrooms are in a dilapidated state and infested with lizards. Infact some of them did not appear to be normal house lizards but large ones found in open gardens. While one may argue that they are harmless, it will not be a good sight for people who have a phobia for insects of the crawling kind. My family was so petrified they did not use the bathroom during the entire night. - The Kendra's campus itself is large and serene. They have their own private beach/ Sunrise point and that was probably the only best thing of this stay. - The restaurant serves very good breakfast on paid basis. The experience during 1st night itself was so bad that we had to checkout a day earlier. The Kendra declined any refund for the foregone stay; which can be understandable considering the rules which were intimated to us earlier. I am really surprised that there are no negative reviews of this property anywhere. I am not sure if the property has fallen into this state because of the pandemic; although I don't believe that to be the case. If they can maintain the campus itself and other buildings like the Ramayana Darshan very well they should be spending that much for the maintenance of the cottages also; especially when these are not really discounted room rates. It almost seems like they believe that negative reviews do not matter considering the huge demand from people.

We stayed there at 3 bedded AC Room... situated near Ramayan Darshnam Temple. The room was huge with attached bath. Room was very simple with basic facilities only but the environment there is so peaceful that you feel out of World. Canteen was near for water n food. The sunrise at beach inside the campus is not to give a miss, worth visit,if want to stay away from city life.

Comfortable accommodation for senior citizens. We 11 senior citizens stayed in AC double bed room which is having facilities like Ac,Gyser & western toilet.Lift is not required as there is only one floor.Cleanliness of the room is good.Bath room fittings are not very new but ok. You can get variety of rooms as per your budget but facilities will vary.(You can esquire through e mail & their response is quick) Canteen food is not bad. Free service bus with restricted timings, auto facilities & call taxis are available.Main attractions are near by.Ramayan dharsan hall within the complex is excellent.(Closes at 8pm)It will be good choice for family stay.

Visited the place but did not stay overnight. The Kendra has a vast area with well maintained green gardens. Nice accommodations are available at very reasonable price through online booking. Good food at very reasonable rates are available in the Campus Restaurants.

The location is very calm with greenery all around. The campus is very huge with accommodations spreading across. The rooms are neat and clean. 1st day we got allotted AC room with attach bathroom. Geyser is provided for AC rooms only. 2nd day we stayed in non-ac room. Restraunt is very nearby. Tastey food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Banana leaf used to serve food. There is a Ganesh temple in the campus. Lot of peacocks were wandering freely near the temple garden. Beach is very nearby and we can reach there by walk. It was a nice experience staying in this campus. Only thing is that accommodations are available for online booking only.

One of best museum depicting entire epic Holy Ramayana on colourful pictorial stories, along with Bharat Mata Statue inside the museum. Outside garden and Lord Sri Hanuman Statue are the main attraction. Do not miss the opportunity to visit Sri Vivekanda Kendra in Kanyakumari.

This was like a surprise in otherwise small town of kanyamumari. Though in opposite direction from beach, its 2km walk and 1km from railway station. They have variety of rooms from luxury to dormitory and also big halls for group travellers to suit everyone's needs. But one must try to prebook online or check availalbility. Its a big campus spread over maybe few hundred acres of land. They have a big canteen too so the food is available nearby only. Big attractions are temples built within and nearby like Tirupati Balaji temple and Ram temple.

Totally different than the regular chaos of tourists at other Kanyakumari places, this is a must see place. Related with Shri Eknathji Ranade, a one man army who devoted his life not only in creating the Vivekananda Rock memorial but also many other social projects. This Kendra is a training centre for all people related with Vivekanand Ashram and activities. Peaceful and lush green surroundings, a very peaceful and almost deserted beach makes you feel very calm. Ramayana Darshanam is a series of very beautiful pictures with descriptions which coverts complete Ramayana events and also throws light on its multi-country presence and present day signigficance. Shining idol of Bharatmata is so captivating that you keep on looking at it. This kendra also offers accomodation and food (basic) through online booking. I certainly recommend this for a calm/quiet and pleasant stay. Periodic shuttle Bus services to go to Kanyakumari sea shore comes as a handy help. And when you visit the Rock memorial, do not forget to donate to this noble cause !
