Maharaja Umed Singh II, ruling king of Kota in the early 1900s, who resided in the medieval fort within the city of Kota, decided that he wanted a modern palace for his personal use. He commissioned Sir Swinton Jacob, an officer of the Royal Engineers in the British Army to undertake the conception and implementation of this Palace Umed Bhawan. The Palace subtly blends Rajput and Victorian architecture. Umed Bhawan Palace, Kotah exudes an aura of its own, Lush lawns and courtyards, picturesque ceilings, marble corridors, hunting trophies of yesteryear, along with exquisite royal heirlooms are the special features of the palace.

The food was exceptional, showcasing a delightful array of flavors that enhanced our overall experience.
However, we did encounter a minor inconvenience with carpenter ants on the bed. Thankfully, the issue was promptly addressed by the staff, showcasing their commitment to guest satisfaction.

We stayed at this hotel for a few nights and must say we were really impressed. This palace turned hotel garners high praise for its spotless promises and well kept super spacious rooms. It's based out of a scenic tranquil location yet close to the city and all the major attractions offering a perfect blend of relaxation and exploration. The staff are extremely courteous and hospitable. A special shout out to Apurva and Gyanendra for the swift check in and check out. The food is excellent and gives a taste of old Rajasthan cuisines. However the entrance into the property could be made more visible as an outsider can easily miss seeing it. Other than that it's really a great place to unwind and explore

I had the opportunity of spending two nights at Umed Bhawan Palace, Kotah. It was truly a wonderful experience. The palace and grounds are beautifully decorated. I woke up with the song of peacocks and watched them prance in the lawns of the palace.
The rooms are delightfully proportioned and the decor is elegant as well as comfortable. The Housekeeping Team led by Mr Raghuveer ensured that the space was squeaky clean.
The multi cuisine menu was highly tempting and the food was absolutely delicious; the portions were ample for hungry guests! The breakfast was just right and raised the bar high. Mr Ghosh from the F&B service and Chef Dharam Singh along with his team catered to our every request with a smile.
Overall, the staff was incredibly welcoming and were interested in the well being of their guests. Mr. Shakti and Mr. Bhavesh from the Front Desk were courteous and friendly at all times.
Mr Shukla, the General Manager has done well in managing the property as well as ensuring a very positive customer experience.
Umed Bhawan Palace, Kotah combines old world charm with traditional service where the customer’s needs are paramount. If you would like to be looked after well, I would strongly recommend a stay there. Our heartfelt thanks to all the staff mentioned above as well as others who were equally as instrumental in ensuring the guests enjoyed their stay.

The property is just off the main road and is a long-ish drive from the main gate.
The first impression you get is ‘Wow… this feel homey’ … big front garden, as well one on the right side of the building.
Our Suite room and bathroom was huge, spacious and comfortable. Although, a bit more lighting/lamps in the corners might be helpful.
During the three days of our stay, despite the scorching heat (41 degrees!), we realised the rooms remain cool. The air conditioning is so effective, we needed to turn the air con off a few times!
The most important asset the hotel has is their staff. Each and every member we met was extremely polite, cheerful, helpful, conversational …. Mr. Shakti Singh and Nikhil at reception, Harpal in the dining hall, Praveen at the bar, the doorman … and so many more whose names elude me although their faces and helpful demeanour are still clear.
The food at the hotel is superb! We tried their Laal Maas one evening 👍 Their Chinese was good too, as were their tandoori items and dal. The breakfast paranthas were A one.
On the day we left, we requested a couple of paranthas to please be packed so we could have them while driving to our next destination and we were impressed by the care with which they did so … disposable plates, spoons, a small pouch of achaar 😃
There are resident Peacocks … a delight to hear their morning and evening greetings.
We will always remember our stay at this hotel and hope to revisit someday.

Worth staying. The rooms and decor is very much to my liking with an early 20th century style. The gardens and lawns are very well kept. The building at night has a mysterious yet peaceful charm. Will definitely visit again if I get the chance. Would recommend highly.

I organized the wedding of my son at this palace. It was a 2 day event during which we booked all the rooms of the palace for our guests and charted out the plan for multiple events - Mehendi, Sangeet, Haldi and Wedding within it's premise. Nestled away from the hustle and bustle of city, this palace is surrounded by forest reserve which adds to its beauty and quietness.
It goes without saying that this palace has an authentic heritage vibe all around and there's a lot to be explored in terms of organizing thematic functions at this palace. This palace is a gem for wedding which is not known to many.I would highly recommend visiting this property and exploring all the halls and spaces within it's premise.Even the rooms look royal in their stature and size.
I had an amazing experience and my guests enjoyed their stay at the palace all thanks to the courteous staff and manager Mr. Shakti Singh.
