Detailed Reviews
We stayed two nights in a deluxe double room. The property is a haveli which has been in the same family for some 200 years. The property is nicely kept and very tidy. It is not as slick as some other havelis we have stayed in, but the authenticity and history of the place give it real charm. It is unique. The lady who manages the house is gentle and charming. The room was actually an apartment - large bedroom and bathroom with an attached, very large lounge and dining room which was furnished and decorated in keeping with the heritage of the property. This looked like it might be shared with a room on the other side (ie a common use area) but we had it to ourselves. There was no one else there, so I am not sure, but either way, it made for a nice space to read and relax. Dinner was served to the dining table in this room, and we appreciated the privacy of this. Breakfast was simple but perfectly satisfying (fresh fruit juice, banana, omelette, toast, jam, chai/coffee). Dinner was ok, nothing remarkable and to be honest expensive for what it was, but the convenience and good service balanced this out. Only hitch - booking.com website says they take credit cards, which they do not, so we had to make a late night trip to the ATM for cash to book out the next morning. However, they were very apologetic about this and the owner’s son drove my partner to the ATM to get it done, so I can’t fault the service end. I would highly recommend this property for a charming experience.

Visited this place. The name says haveli ( though not a haveli). The ambiance is good, calm and quiet environment. No disturbance- no sound.
Pros: Tidy place, sense of staying in a heritage property, peaceful & calm environment
cons: Food was very bad plus the hotel is located a bit far from the city so no food chain was ready to deliver food ( even dominos said no).

I booked this haveli through Hotels.com and the photos on the site don't reflect reality.
Having had one of my most dreadful experiences of a hotel, I'm not sure how some guests on Trip Advisor actually gave it "Excellent/Very good" ratings.
To begin with, it's literally a building site. When I arrived, there was nobody at the front desk. Why? Because there is no front desk!! There was a cloud of dust, a load of workmen, piles of bricks, tools and every other obstacle you can think of. I knocked on various doors but nobody answered and in the end, one of the workmen went off to find the owner.
Indira finally appeared and told me that I was the only guest as - you guessed it - there was major renovation going on. My question to her was why didn't she put some sort of advisory on the website to tell potential guests thereby giving them the option to choose another hotel/haveli? She assured me that she was not going to accept any other reservations - but that was a little late for me.
She then led me up some stairs to my room. The stairs had just been completed so there was NO banister or hand rail and a drop on to a concrete floor of about 15 feet once you were at the top. She didn't seem to think there was anything wrong with exposing her guests to hazards like these. Dust was everywhere; the trees in the courtyard were covered in a fine white powder. You can see from the photos that there were piles of building materials and unfinished areas everywhere. She optimistically told me that an area that was clearly under construction would be finished "by tomorrow".
Since I had arrived in the middle of a building site, there was NO a/c or television in the room and the outside temperature was around 29C. The bathroom was disgusting beyond belief. Really filthy and there aren't enough words in the English language to describe the almost threadbare towels hanging on the rail, which, by the way, had loads of black finger/hand prints on them. The bathmat - if you can call it that - was a full size towel that had been cut in half and basically stitched around the edges to stop fraying.
I can put up with the lack of television and a/c. What stunned me was the total lack of warning from the owners to the websites that hosted their hotel to say that they were in the middle of a massive - and much needed - renovation. Furthermore, the owner's lack of concern to the clear and obvious dangers her guests were exposed to because of the renovations was alarming at best and uncaring at worst.
This was one place you need to avoid.

If you want to experience the grandeur and opulence with which the earlier Nawabs stayed, Palkiya Haveli is the right choice. The rooms are comfortable and very well decorated. But where the property stands out in terms of elegance, it lets you down in terms of food. The food is served from the kitchen of the Rajput family who are the owners and live on the backside of this hotel and it is no where even near grand and is certainly not worth the price charged. The service is also very average. But once again it should be stressed that the rooms and the ambiance is great. The rooms on the first floor are better.

It is really an exceptional experience to have coffee with Owner, well versed in Rajasthan History, Architecture and Heritage conservation.A heritage property , far from Kota's maddening traffic and hustle bustle, it is worth stay with some sessions of chit chat with owner.

This is a bit of a late review, and although I tried to post a review once I returned from India, my review was declined for an unknown reason.
I found the management of this establishment to be unfriendly, and unprofessional in their dealing with us. We never made the booking we used a service provider whom we had booked our vehicle and driver to make the booking. Their attitude was rude and dismissive, it was as if they we were an inconvenience to them, probably because they normally had business travel people at their establishment and not tourists (who knows).
They did however assist us with finding an activity to do in Kota, which I would highly recommend at that is to do the boat trip up river and discover a hidden gem, other than that Kota is not a tourist destination at all.
The rooms were dark and the beds were the hardest beds of the entire trip, We were asked to eat our breakfast in a room all by ourselves, instead of the courtyard..anyway we were in a hurry to leave due to the terrible atmosphere and didn't want to stay a minute longer, which is sad really because we never had that feeling in the other establishments we stayed in on the trip.

The haveli is beautiful ...infact we didn't expect such a beautiful haveli in this area.
The rooms are tastefully done, the bathrooms are good...the ambience of the haveli very nice. The owner lady is very friendly and helpful.
However, the AC of the room was not effective and there was no AC in the dining area.
Though the food was good, it was cold and the rotis were left uncovered in front of the fan which made it hard.
The pricing was very much inflated. though the room tariff is fine, final billing showed that there was an extra exuberant charge on the juice that was offered to us when we entered. the morning tea which was served was again charged extra while there was no tea making facility in the room.
Infact the tariffs of similar kind of hotels in jaipur and udaipur ,which are much bigger places with much more to offer, was much more reasonable. and Kota doesn't have any famous historical places to visit.
The helpers are very slow and do not understand anything.
Also though there is a free wifi, it hardly works
