Nice peaceful location with picturesque views by a river with houseboats passing back and forth. Wouldn’t rate above 3 stars due to the overall setup, level of service and state of facilities provided in need of overall improvement - cleanliness, state of repair, Wi-Fi, electricity. Breakfast basic, evening meal cooked to order was tasty. Staff & manager Rinosh work hard to look after guests and organise transport/trips. When compared to other 3 & 4 star properties stayed at would suggest the management need to significantly raise their game for what is being charged.

A smallish 3 acre well kept property with comfortable cottages by Punnamada lake, with very hospitable staff that make you feel at home.
As you enyer the property, you get a sense of the balance and harmony Palmgrove Lake resort manages to maintain with nature - the grounds and lawns are very neatly maintained without overly manicured to feel out of place with the natural serenity. The typical Kerala style architecture cottages are spaced out with an abundance of natural greenery Kerala is blessed with. The waterway lining the property can get a little busy with passing houseboats and shikaras, but being a speed regulated area, does not disturb the calm settings.
Mr. Philip, the owner of the property personally oversees the operations and was very direct and forthright. He and the front office ma ager Bipin personally made sure all our requirements were met, not just inside the resort, but also arranging for a very well maintained Shikara for our 2 hour lake cruise at reasonable rate ( felt like we were going in a Merc, compared to many rundown Shikaras we came across during the cruise). They also arranged for a cab with the driver doubling up as local guide for a day out in Alleppey town, and the nearby pristine white sands beach.
Given this was a smaller property, we had to order food few hours ahead from the rather limited menu, but Oh boy, each one of those authentic Kerala dishes were so mouthwateringly delicious. The " Karimeen Pollichathu", Chicken roast, fish curry all were so yummy that we ordered and went back there for dinner even after checking out that afternoon.
Highly recommend the suites as opposed to the marginally cheaper rooms not just for their larger size, but they are the ones in prime location by the waterfront, with a nice verandah and comfortable chairs where you can just sit and relax for hours watching the houseboats and shikaras pass by.
They don't have a bar or serve alcohol there, so those who need that kind of fun have to drive out to nearby Ramada which has a bar at the rooftop offering stunning views of the backwaters. While Palmgrove Lake resort does not have a swimming pool or bar or much of outdoor games, it makes up for those by the calm, idyllic settings with a friendly staff, clean and comfortable cottages, awesome food, and let's you become feel at unity with nature and you can literally feel all your stress melt away and the busy life you have feel so far away.

Location is perfect and the property is good and maintained. Staff is good but only managed by 2 members. Hot water not available in the rooms and water also goes off if the water tank above cottage becomes empty. You have to call at reception mobile number for that (No intercoms). One need to order dinner before 1830hrs as the above 2 managing staff also cooks the food. But yes the food quality and taste was very good. But one need to keep plates outside the room after meal and there are stray dogs roaming inside the resort during that time, you know what i mean. One can see many houseboats passing by the backwaters and bench is at perfect location. Again breakfast is delay i.e. after 930 Hrs only we got. Room was very clean. Many many mosquitos so please note that one cannot go out after 6 Pm to roam around in resort. Suggestion: Property need at least one security guard which will good for safety as well as entering stray digs from nearby locality.

This is the perfect blend of traditional Kerala with modern amenities. From the salt pool to the natural soaps to the flowers and fruit trees, every detail speaks to the management’s love of Mother Earth. The location on the water is also ideal for houseboat tours.

Unfortunately, our experience at this resort was far from satisfactory. Believe that the people who have given 4 or 5-star reviews for this property don't seem genuine; it appears as though they might be friends or relatives of the hotel owner. The Deluxe room we booked had lizards and there were mosquito as well. The AC seemed ineffective, possibly out of gas, and the bathrooms were subpar with a weak flush. The overall cleanliness was lacking, and we opted to skip breakfast. Given the issues, a 3 or 4-star rating might be justified with a lower tariff of Rs. Rs. 2,000 per night. The location didn't make up for the shortcomings. I'd advise exploring other options for a stay in Alleppey even if it is a bit far from this boating location.

Palmgrove Lake Resort is beside Punnamada kayal in Alappuzha. Guests can see houseboats moving up and down. Individual villas accommodate the guests. Trees of of different types are everywhere. Some villas face the lake. The rooms are sparsely furnished. Wardrobe was not part of the furniture in the room. Instead, two hangers were provided. The hot water supply in the bathroom dried up on our first day morning. They gave us a bucket of water after an anxious delay. Our request to change the room was turned down. The place is 7 km from Alappuzha railway station. The auto fare was ₹200. The resort will arrange for taxis on request. The restaurant has a limited menu. Guests should place orders one hour in advance. The complimentary breakfast included poori/bhaji, fried potatoes, idali with sambhar and chutney, bread butter, juice and coffee/tea. No eggs. The breakfast service begins at 08:30 am. Room service attracts an extra fee of 15%. We cut short our stay after the first night and moved elsewhere.

Hi all, I stayed in the garden facing cottage for 3 days. A nice nature resort spanning over 2 acres of land, beside the famous Punnamada lake where the famous Nehru Trophy boat race happens. Individual cottages surrounded by lush greenery. The resort is situated about 10-12 km from railway station. Have well appointed ac rooms with comfortable cots. The only thing I found lacking in the room in which I stayed was a wardrobe to hang clothes. The manager Mr Rinosh was very helpful, friendly and ever ready to help. The buffet breakfast had a good tasty spread of one north and one south Indian dish apart from cornflakes, bread toast and cut fruits apart from fruit juices, coffee and tea. They can arrange vehicle (auto / cab) to move around. A request to the management would be to maintain a small sporting arena for adults as well as for kids for extra entertainment.

We have stayed at the resort for a day and I have booked Lake View Room which is bit pricy. 1. My stay at the resort is good except that the electrical plug points at the room are detached easily when you pull out the charges inserted into it. 2. I have also booked a overnight boathouse through the resort which I realise later that it is a bad idea. The resort's website says that they have their own collection of houseboats whereas they do not own any. They arrange the houseboats through external agents. One of the agents who had arranged houseboat for us is Mr. Pramod and the resort quoted me a tariff of Rs. 7000/- for an exclusive private boathouse whereas they have provided us a houseboat on sharing basis with another couple. So, do not use their boathouse service and you can directly approach Finishing point where you can find n number of houseboats and book directly after checking the grade and quality of boats. But beware of Agents there also.

Wow this resort amazed me and was above my expectations. You will love it if you want to be close to Nature. It is next to the backwaters and you can see houseboats sailing by. They can arrange for all extras like auto, cabs and chikara etc. The food is reasonably priced and tasty. The staff is smiling and will take care of you. The rooms and the resort is well maintained and looks new. Do carry odomos and you wil find lots of mosquitoes here.

Most of all the mineral water bottles were also not provided. The just provided one bottle of ro water for the family of 3.

In continuation to above......
For boat Ride (Sikara Boat), you have to pay on hourly basis (available only during day time), i.e Rs.400/- per hour. Best timing is early morning 6-00 A.M. to 9-00 A.M.
If you want to continue, better break the journey and go for another ride from 4-00 P.M. to 6-00 P.M.
Palmgrove resort is the decent place to stay in terms of availability of better food, location-wise away from concrete jungle and can enjoy nature, safe & secure place.
If you request in advance, they will arrange a cab for airport pick up and drop from Cochin Airport, on additional charge.
They do arrange for Shikara ( semi Covered Canoe with comfortable chairs and a bed) boat rides, which come to the resort dock and pick you up. If you need a houseboat ride, that also can be arranged.
There are more places to choose from in the Alappuzha area.
