This hotel is beautiful in its restoration, the food is great and the staff are wonderful, they were particularly helpful when the government withdrew most bank notes from circulation. However the pool should've been ready for use by the date I arrived and was no where near. The worst element of staying here was the amount of building work happening... More

I really enjoyed my stay in the Raheem Residency! The staff was very friendly and the rooms are clean and smelled of lovely lemongrass. Even though the pool was a bit green, it was clean and it was really nice to have a dip in it. Breakfast was very good too and the view from the terrace to the sea... More

By the time we arrived to the hotel through endless road works, building works, railway construction, and the dirty public beach my wife was in tears and we left as no shows without entering the hotel. So I can't comment on the hotel, but it's location certainly wasn't what we were looking for.

The hotel has been beautifully restored, staff extremely friendly and helpful, food in restaurant was great. Hotel across road from beach, didn't seem to be much else around though. Lots of locals have a great time front and back of hotel, fascinating to see and hear. Pool was refreshing even though it looks green. Great places to sit and read... More

Raheem Residency is a charming, authentic, period hotel and is very tastefully furnished and maintained. However, as other reviews have mentioned, directly in front of the hotel, above the seafront road which separates the hotel from the beach, a raised bypass is being built. At present there is intermittent noise from the roadworks (large supporting columns are being constructed). We... More

Stayed here for a week on 2011 along with a Irish TV producer, Loved the room, location & atmosphere. Beware of Mosquitoes. Odomos (Indian Mosquito repellent are advisable) I loved Bibi Baskin's bookshelf & the apple pool. Lovely staff at Kitchen.

Beautifully restored 'bungalow' with large comfortable air-conditioned rooms which are full of character. Very efficient service and a good restaurant which is approached via a spiral staircase. The food is good and their is a view of the beach in the distance through the trees. The chairs in the restaurant are comfortable whicker affairs that encourage you to linger. The... More

What a beautiful place - we stayed as a family of 6 (children ages 10-16) and it was totally relaxing. The food is exquisite - the lunch biryani is among the most wonderful thing I have ever eaten, anywhere - and the service is excellent - quiet, refined and caring. Our rooms were Ummi and Beti, close to the pool... More

Having been to Kerala previously, I thought I knew what to expect- resort, resort, resort, not inexpensive... and then I stayed in Raheem Residency. A great location for couples or solo travellers looking for a calm, restorative place to stay and chill out. The room was great. A/C, extra large bed, great bathroom with hot shower and plenty extras for... More

It nearly works. It is a fabulous, in the true sense of the word, old residence. Stay here for the ambience, for the location (good access to rice boat trips on the back waters, across from the beach, near about 6 good places for food, coffee, drinks & 3Ks from the drab & noisy town & station), stay for for... Raheem Residency at Alleppey Beach, one hour south of Cochin, is an 1868 colonial property which was passionately restored in a classic, Indian style in 2003 by a small Indo-European private limited company. It is now recognized by the Tourism Dept of India as a genuine Heritage Hotel of India. Originally built by an Englishman, it was the home of the Raheems, an eminent Alleppey family, for one hundred years.
