A wonderful place with à very kind family. Thomas (brother of Maria and Matthew) Laly and their 2 daughters welcomed us so kindly! I think that it is the perfect place to enjoy the backwaters life. The cottage with the rice field view was so nice also. We would like to say "thank you" to all family for all the attentions the gave to us and espacially to our 2 children. It was a wonderful stay. I recommend you, of course, to comme and visite them!! Hope we will come back again

An amazing welcome upon an adventurous arrival with a small canoe to get at the other shore of the river Pamba: an entire bunch of friends of the family’s daughters were waiting for us, wishing us a warm welcome at the lovely “Corner House”, erected in a typical Kerala architecture. Two days of shere happiness in this beautiful green subtropical paradise: exquisite meals prepared by our Indian family’s house, exploring the typical backwaters surrounding the island Chennamkary, where we discovered during a fascinating morning walk with our host Thomas at 6h30 the amazing subtropical nature, the rice paddies, the coconut trees, the birds, typical flora and fauna…lovely boat trips exploring the lush greenery of the backwaters at sunset, wandering around on the lovely pathway at the riverside….enjoying fascinating exchanges about India and Kerala with Thomas and his family. These two days at this lovely welcoming homestay were one of the highlights of our travels in Kerala!

This stay was the highlight of our trip to Kerala. Away from all the chaos and noise, in a peaceful village surrounded by rivers and canals: this was a great way to slow down, relax and enjoy the scenery. The locals are super friendly. Thomas and his family were super welcoming. The meals were amazing. The room was super clean. We loved all the heartfelt conversations we had with Thomas, as well as the complimentary bird watching walk. We took several strolls around the island. The bit that we enjoyed the most however being the small boat trips we did daily! A unique and genuine experience (much more than the houseboats in our view) that we highly recommend to anyone coming to this area.

Green Palm homes Is a group of houses who have got together to create homestays . We stayed with Thomas and his family in his almost museum like house . We had a room on the top floor and there are four rooms here , if you can get one at the front there’s a lovely balcony overlooking the river . Thomas was especially helpful , he instructed us on where to go for walks , we hired bikes from his neighbour to go to the local village and he took us bird watching a subject on which he is very knowledgeable and was ver Ly interesting even if your not a twitcher ! The food was very good and breakfast - lunch - and dinner were all prepared by his wife and served by his daughter . All very tasty local foods . To enjoy the Homestay you have to put into it , take the bird watching walk, go for a walk to the village , take the kayaks through the backwaters , if you patriciate you will really love this place …..we did !!!

We loved to stay here. The atmosphere is very relaxed and familiar and we felt to live the real backwater experience from the first moment we arrived. The owner Thomas and his family are amazing people and they do everything with great love, always there when we needed and always trying to make us feel like home, giving us lots of advices on place and area to visit and discover. The room was clean, with hot water shower and daily free drinkable water available. This place is a real hidden gem and a great place to recharge your batteries and relax, surrounded by very friendly local people, beautiful green rice fields, nature, quietness and love. Thank you again to all of you, hope to see you soon again, Elena and Luca.

The Green Palm experience is magical, from the minute you board a canoe to cross to this beautiful island, sitting alongside locals who are doing their daily chores. Thomas, his wife Lely and daughter Anina made us feel like part of the family. They cooked us delicious food and showed us real life in the backwater community. Thomas gave us ideas for activities and organised sightseeing trips. He took us on an early morning birdwatching walk which was thrilling as we got to see more than 25 species. The island is beautiful, filled with friendly people and breathtaking nature. We really enjoyed strolling around with Thomas, meeting local people and learning how the community works together. If you want an insight into Kerala’s backwaters, and to stay with wonderful hosts who go the extra mile, stay at Green Palm.

My wife and I spent four wonderful nights hosted by Mathew at Green Palm Homes. Mathew was the perfect host, preparing delicious food, taking us on guided walks, showing us the local wildlife, and even singing a traditional song as he paddled us back along the river one evening. His mother Anna also made us very welcome and gave us a cooking lesson to show us some local specialities. Chennamkarry is a beautiful, friendly village, full of coconut trees and banana plants and teeming with birds and other wildlife. I highly recommend visiting and staying with Green Palm Homes!

Me and my partner spent three perfect days at Thomas and Laly's place. We had a small bungalow to ourselves set just off the main house with beautiful views out onto the paddy fields. The setting is incredible, with water on one side of the property and fields and lush vegetation on the other three. Thomas and his family are wonderfully thoughtful, kind and friendly people, and I think it's fair to say that our stay with them was one of the highlights of our trip to Kerela. Laly's food was incredible and we looked forward to every meal time-true home cooking at its finest. Thomas made our trip very special and went out of his way to arrange nature walks, trips out for the day and even the use of a kayak for an afternoon on the water. His knowledge of the local area, plants and animals really bought everything to life and we both learned so much during our stay. Faultless from start to finish and we couldn't reccomended it any more highly. Lee and Kat.

We stayed with our 3 kids ages 17, 13 and 8, for four nights in this wonderful home-stay. Thomas and Laly treated us like their personal guests, and we left as friends… I think there is no better way to experience the village life than spend the time with local people. Zacharia family run a comfortable home-stay, and with Laly’s cooking (all meals are offered), you could not ask for more. Thomas took us on excursions near and far. We went on a motor-boat cruise with the sunrise, kayaking with the sun-set. Don’t miss out on this unique experience!

We had a wonderful stay at Green Palm Homes with Matthew, Maria and Thomas. After the hustle and bustle of Delhi and Rajasthan Green Palms was such a welcome place to unwind and enjoy the greenery of Kerala in peace and quiet. It’s a perfect location for exploring some of the quieter corners of the backwaters by foot, canoe or boat and the family are more than happy to help with advice and guidance on where to go (both locally and beyond). We had tasty home cooked food for each meal and afternoon chai hearing stories and information about the local area from Matthew and were so well looked after the whole time we were there. Another highlight was the guided walk with Thomas around the village and fields on the island and hearing more about life in the backwaters and their history, finished off with some firefly spotting in his garden! It is such a beautiful spot to relax and soak up some Keralan nature (and food!) in a wonderfully kind and attentive family setting.
