Excellent location, amazing food, clean rooms with the most friendly family. I was there for a week and they provided home cooked meals, locally sourced. The activities are not to miss. Evening walk with canoe ride was exceptional, coming back in the dark with folk songs. I hired, kayak and motor boat which helped me go through the small canals, seeing the true life of the back waters, cooking lessons, also had ayurvedic massage. Visited the near by town. Lot to explore. Overall the best and suggest not to miss this place.
We had the best time at Green Palm Homes. They offer so many activities and they were all great. We learned a lot about the culture and had a wonderful time paddling through the backwaters on a kayak. Rooms were clean and spacious. Food was delicious and they always served so many different dishes, it was lovely to taste such a variety of home made food. Green Palm Homes is the perfect location if you want to meet a lovely family, spend some time in the backwaters, all relaxed and quite but still enough activities that you will never be bored. Such an amazing place.
Best food we have had on our 2 week trip. Maria and her family were extremely helpful with advice for the local area and organizing ways to explore it. Very relaxing and interesting place to spend a few days
Just a lovely stay, with a lovely family. The rooms are comfortable, but the main attraction is being located in such a peaceful area with a friendly and knowledgeable family. Wonderful hospitality and food with Thomas and his family. We took a beautiful walk around the rice fields, did some kayaking in the water, as well as a leisurely boat tour around the canals, looking at the life in the villages. So glad we came here - you should too!
We left Green Palm today and wanted to immediately write about the amazing time we had. We stayed with our son and were all made to feel so welcome and at home. Our room was clean and comfortable, and our meals delicious. The island the homes are on is just beautiful, and peaceful. We had enough time to do lots of the activities on offer - a beautiful evening canoe trip and a wonderful walk around the village and rice fields. We also went kayaking under our own steam which was really special. The thing that makes Green Palms outstanding though, is the people. Maria, Thomas and Mathew, their mum and other relatives and friends, were such warm, lovely people. We left feeling we'd made friends, and hoping we'll be back one day, hopefully for longer.
My boyfriend and I stayed at Greenpalm homes for 3 nights in September and it was one of the most relaxing and beautiful stays of our whole trip. Maria and her family are all really friendly and made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The food which is all cooked my Marias mother is AMAZING. We would be looking forward to ever meal and it definitely never disappointed us. It is all fresh and locally sourced. The room was great with air conditioning and plenty of space, we were given access to the two living rooms and the outdoor area were we could relax and enjoy our stay. Maria also organised a boat trip and visit into the town and we used the families Kayaks (free of charge) too! The island is beautiful and we enjoyed just walking round, all the locals are also very friendly too :) All round a fantastic stay and would definitely recommend!…
We visited at the end of the monsoon (low season) and had a wonderful time. Everything is looking very lush and green, and there are fewer houseboats meaning you have the backwaters more to yourselves. Maria was very happy to help us explore the village and chat about life on the island. It's easy to get out walking and canoeing/kayaking from the house and there is plenty of wildlife. Delicious food made by Maria's mother every day. Thank you for a lovely stay.
We came to GreenPalm in out of season. August 2019. Monsoon - rain - high water but what a stay. Arrived in a car "on the other side of the bank" and had to take a canoe to cross and this is where the adventure begins. Maria the host greeted us and showed us the short walk to the home. Rooms and second floor, good size, clean and comfortable beds. Like in so many parts of India the shower is not "western" but we can live with that. Breakfast, lunch and dinner in the kitchen and the food is super and Maria open and willing to help out with requests. Maria is also very helpful with any information needed and a host of a highest standard, We did a motor canoe trip and a houseboat trip. This is a fantastic place - relaxing and peaceful. Sweet people all around and we can only recommend going there - out of season or not. 3 of us where from USA and one from Iceland.…
We stayed here on our way back up to Cochin airport from Varkala. It was so great, just when we thought our trip had ended we checked in at Home Stay Capitol (this is part of Green Palms’ homestay), and our lunch was made ready for us(which was delicious home cooked) Mathew advised us of where to walk at sunset and we saw some of the most beautiful views in Kerala around the backwaters here. Room was fairly basic but comfortable and had air con. Loved the chai tea and biscuits at 4pm and the evening dinner. True homestay experience with great family. We got a canoe one day down the river, which we really enjoyed. Mathew accommodated for us well as we had to catch a very late plane back in the evening so we sat and read our books during the day. Would recommend!
This is a gem of a place on an island in the backwaters of Alleppey. It was recommended in the Lonely Planet Guide and is quite a find. Lovely ambience with very helpful family who seem genuinely interested in their guests and take a lot of trouble making arrangements. With excellent local cooking as well, we couldn't have felt more at home. We stayed in one of the small cottages at the end of the garden. It was a bit cramped for 3 adults, so Maria kindly let our son sleep in the other cottage, free of charge. We enjoyed 2 boat trips through the backwaters and along narrow canals where you get an intimate view of life. We had fun with our own explorations by kayak. The beach at Kattoor was an easy taxi journey away. As a birdwatcher it was a fantastic location with plenty of waterbirds and raptors over the waterways and on the rice paddies directly behind our cottage. Would definitely revisit.…
