Chakochan,Elsa,Ance, their parents,Esa,Vakachan,Merry Kutty,Tommachan,Kurrialachan were going about their daily lives as usual. Enter 5 of us from varying age groups starting from 5 months to 70 Years boom to disrupt this quaint lives of theirs. They accept us with whole humility and integrate us in their lives seamlessly and we were part of their family and lived their lives for 5 whole days. It was a fantastic experience from the hustle and bustle of our lives,Enjoying sumptuous "nadan"(Local) food much different from the trash we eat daily at Chennai. Sindu deserves a special mention here and we thank her for the delicious food. We mostly ate and slept sticking to our agenda of doing nothing interrupted by boat rides, paddy field trips,Fishing and simplying lying around doing nothing. My son enjoyed his time with Elsa/Merrykutty/tommachan/Kurialachan and Esa jumping off mango trees bathing in the backwaters fishing and simply playing,a gr8 relief from being locked down with gadgets. Mornings greeted by sound of birds flowing water passing boats and distant hymns from temples which was missed since a long time returned back to our lives. Collecting mangoes fallen from trees plucking wild jacks was fantastic Nostalgia. All in all a great package living a different life in 5 days,All this after 1 year of lockdown was a gr8 break. thank you Chakochan and family for a fantastic time.…
If you are tired of the fast paced and hectic life, I strongly recommend Kurialacherry House. Lush green paddy fields, a small fish farm on one side and a river facing front make the backdrop of this guest house. Its a blend of serenity tranquility and peace. Mr. Chackochan and his beautiful wife,Mrs. Elizabeth the owners, were the perfect hosts. My family and my brothers family spent some quality time. The children had a fabulous time. Excellent food and beautifully maintained cottages add to the charm. The open shower was a unique experience. A totally detoxifying effect. Hope to come back soon
Our family of 10 went to Kurialacherry Homestay on 19th dec. We spent two days and a night. We had a wonderful time. The handsome and courteous Mr Chackochan and his beautiful wife, Mrs Elizabeth were the perfect hosts. The children had a splendid time. The food was excellent and the rooms were well maintained. We had a great and peaceful time.
We stayed in the Kurialacherry guesthouse in Feb 2020 for two nights. Our room was very spaceous and well equipped with an nice open air bathroom. the service and the food was very good. We enjoyed a number of activities during our stay like early morning kajaking, village walk, school visit (that was fun for everyone), and night fishing. Also we were invited by Jacobs team to attend the cooking of our dinner in the house kitchen. The Kurialacherry house is a beautiful property, quite remote on the riverside. We definitely recommend!
We stopped during our backwater tour at this so beautiful location directly waterside. The manager Jakob showed us the farm. Some local people showed how harvesting coconut, how using the palms. Very interesting and authentic. Afterwards we got a very delicious homemade lunch served on Bananaleaves Absolutely worth to stay here The rooms are also nice
A, far too brief, one night stay here was the highlight of our Kerala trip. We were picked up by small boat and taken to the farm stay...what a lovely sight as we drew up to alight. Greeted by a family member who showed us to a lovely large room with comfortable bed, bathroom and outside shower. An experience to listen to the sounds of nature while washing! After a cup of tea, followed by lunch, we walked around the gardens with our hostess who explained about the area, the crops, the animals. The charming kitchen staff showed us how to prepare and cook the evening meal, the ingredients and spices all freshly chopped and cooked...I learnt a great deal, thank you all so much. All meals were extremely tasty and home cooked. The staff were so helpful and informative. My only complaint is that we were not able to stay longer! I recommend Kurialacherry House wholeheartedly.…
Return visit here and much as I remembered. The location of the property is superb, the rooms are traditional and full of character and the food is home cooked and delicious. The fact that you can only really reach the property by boat makes it even more special. A relaxing start to our holiday in Kerala.
Experiencing a backwaters home-stay at Kurialacherry House was a highlight of our tour in Southern India. The rooms are unique, charming, and comfortable. Going in kayaks and canoes allowed deeper exploration of the smaller canals. The breakfasts and dinners were home cooked and probably the best of our three week tour. Jacob and his family provide for experiences that are indigenous to the area. There are also several worthy sights nearby.
We stopped at this place for lunch on our kayaking tour around Alleppey. The food was amazing. The shady garden and the cooling fan were really appreciated after a warm warming in the kayak. The food was really delicious especially the whole fish. Our family of 5 were really hungry as we had been working hard all morning and they kept on bringing food to us. They were a lovely welcoming family and Jacob the Manager made our stay a special one
Hey guys, Really just backing up a lot of the comments below. Great location, beautiful meals and plenty of personalised activities. Jacob is a wealth of information about the area. We enjoyed the walk around the village on day of arrival. Cheers Denis.
