Detailed Reviews
Stayed one night at guest house and one on hou by se boat. Host kindly provided a mattress for our 2 young children on floor of room and boat. After lovely breakfast( kids delighted with banana pancakes he made specially for them) we went out about 10.30 am on houseboat. Boat is hand punted on lake and thro backwater rivers and pulled along by rope on the canal. Stopped in middle big lake for lunch which was delicious and then pulled in side of that lake and walked to sea where we all had swim. Then turned around and went back to guesthouse arriving at 5 pm. I got some photographs of birdlife but not so much as i expected and also might have been nice to stop someplace for a walk and maybe see more birds. Quite sad to see how much rubbish and esp plastic bottles in the water but this huge problem all through kerala. Hopefully new law banning plastic will encourage more guesthouses and restaurants to install good water filter systems and that i hope tourist will feel confidant using them and avoid plastic bottles. We had thought that we would stay somewhere out in backwaters and returned next morning so were surprised when we were back at the dock of guesthoise but i suppose its safer this way and also if A/C important you then You might prefer this as boat connect to power in evening. Some power on boat for light and bedroom fan during the day if you need also. Bedroom bigger than expected and bathroom on boat good. All food was excellent in both guesthouse and on boat and most staff friendly and welcoming. Much nicer and calmer to go hand punted than with a motor and of course better for the environment.its 6000rs for night on boat including lunch dinner and breakfast. As there is 3 staff (2 men punting and one cooking) this is a fair price for a lovely experience. I recommend you give it a try.

We were looking for a way to experience the Backwaters without having to work our way through the crowds of Alleppey and finding a boat that wouldn't be a total ripoff. Via a travel blog on how to best experience the Backwaters I came across the Breeze Backwater homestay. We are happy we booked here.
We stayed in a spacious cottage with a large bathroom. Everything was squeeky clean. We were served fantastic Keralan meals, in the morning accompanied by some scrambled eggs and toast. The owner is a fantastic guy and a wonderful cook.
As for the Backwater tour options, they have a smaller and larger (house)boat, both with punters on board. They have overnight tour options, but we just took the smaller (faster) boat for a day trip. A stop at the local Toddy shop is optional, we enjoyed the opportunity. Don't expect any luxury but a nice experience how the locals enjoy it!

We stayed in the private waterfront cottage: it was very comfortable and clean. Adjij took incredibly good care of us and is a phenomenal cook. The breakfast vegetable curry was delicious and for dinner we ate shrimp curry, fish curry, lemon rice and coconut rice all of which were absolutely delightful. Adjij was also able to organize a very well priced 4 hour boat tour around the backwaters and a 3 hour biking tour. To top it all off, when we underestimated the currents and paddle boated 2km with the current down a canal, Adjij came to our rescue with a big smile on his face. He certainly is the heart and soul of this establishment. It’s worth mentioning we really enjoyed both our private tours organized through the homestay with Tiligan and Tubin (you are both wonderful!) Thanks for an equally relaxing and adventurous end to our trip in India.

We absolutely loved our stay at Breeze Backwater Homes and would not hesitate to come back nor to recommend the guesthouse to others. The location is absolutely stunning - so peaceful and quiet with amazing greenery and local bird life. The rooms are very comfortable with everything you could need, invoicing speedy internet and much appreciated air conditioning! Ajish and his team are incredible hosts who serve the most wonderful food and can’t do enough to make your stay special. Thank you so much for having us - we really hope to come back one day!

We had the most amazing stay in this beautiful place with totally beautiful people. Ajesh and his small team were so helpful, courteous and thoughtful. They helped accommodate everything we needed - the food was so so delicious, (definitely get the Keralan breakfast and homemade chapattis!) there was also lots of bottles/ filter water available and comfortable clean bedrooms and bathrooms. The location is really local so you feel really immersed in the backwaters. We were really lucky to go for an early morning bird watching walk and then out on their canoe boat - this is certainly an off the beaten track way to experience the true beauty of the backwaters and its local community. Definitely recommend!

This homestay is in a remote, quiet and peaceful part of the backwaters. If you’re looking for calm and peace then this is the place to come to. The people running the place are great! They are very humble and hospitable, will prepare delicious food for you and help you with anything you need. I went on a boat trip early morning and still remember the boat gliding over the glittering mirror like water through the small stream surrounded by coconut trees and an impressive variety of birds. Look out for the beautiful kingfisher bird. I also recommend visiting the nearby harbour early morning where you can observe the fishermen returning with their catch of the day. Overall, it has been very pleasant to stay here!

We spent 2 nights in this beautiful place. Ajish is a perfect host, he is always lovely and kind. Breakfast and dinner were delicious and cheap.
We used the laundry (200rupies) and took a private ride on their boat (just 2 persons, my wife and me) whit Thileken, a local man with a lot knowledge about the back waters.
After two months travelling around India this place was a pleasant break in silence (which is rare) and in nature.
Highly recommended!

I stayed one night at Breeze backwater and wish I could have stayed longer. Very peaceful location. Large room with aircon. Comfortable bed. Owner was great with quick response to emails & messages.
Ajeesh is the manager and what a wonderful host. In particular the food is delicious. Fresh ingredients cooked perfectly.
Boat trip in the morning was brilliant. I had thought it was expensive when I booked. However with no other boats out at that time it was worth every rupee!! Just the birds & the occasional local!
I would definitely come back. Another guest told me a local guy is arranging bird watching trips which I would love to do if I had the time.
I would recommend some comfortable chairs for reading & just looking at the amazing view.
A wonderful local experience of the backwaters without the chaos. Thank you.

Had a great stay at the breeze backwater homes with my wife. Truly enjoyed the calming nature, the quiet, and the most caring staff and professional service. A bit far from the main city, but that’s what we wanted. If you are in the area for a quiet and serene time, this is the place and at a fraction of the price that others big names charge. Rajesh was particularly amazing in his attention to detail and his great culinary skills. His prawn curry was something I have never in my life tastes elsewhere. Highly recommend it. The boat ride was the icing on the cake!

Excellent and well maintained property right on the waterfront with clean backwater and great views. Rooms are clean and cozy.
Food was prepared on site and was yummy typical Kerala flavours. We had tuna mango curry, prawn roast and veg stew for lunch. The property has its own boat with covered top and boatman. We took a three hour boat ride hand putted into the narrow backwaters. It was calm and relaxing. Some stretches passes through channels with houses on sides so be prepared for bit smelly waters. But rest of it is nice. Lots of birds and fish popping out of water. The boatman is knowledgeable and explained well in English.
After seeing all the small duck farms in the backwaters We decided to go for Duck roast at dinner.
Ajish the caretaker is a nice person and takes good care if his guests.

Yes we paid 1200 for a day trip with a small punted boat.
About half an hour by train, 33km north of Alleppey. Close to Turavur station.
No sorry, we booked through a travel agent. I would suggest you email via the website.
