Detailed Reviews
We booked this at the last minute as our other accommodation fell through, and we were very pleasantly surprised. You need to travel by boat from the “reception” area to the actual accommodation across the river which was very fun and different. The grounds were very nice and quant and there were tables and chairs to sit and watch the boats go by. The room itself was a little shabby, but reasonable for the price. The South Indian breakfast was generous and tasty. It might be helpful to put a sign at the reception area letting guests know that they need to call the manager to be taken across to the accommodation (we were very confused when we arrived).

Wonderful resort, great hospitality, good food, courteous staff, very obedient and always ready to serve. Vimal supervisor was very courteous and friendly. The resort chef cooks good quality food. Cleanliness is also very good.
However, the backwater channel approaching the resort needs cleaning by the concerned authorities as it is full of water weeds and plastic wastes from the houseboats.
Overall very pleasant and comfortable stay....

Excellent service and facility. We, three families had a overnight stay. Overall, food, pool, people, rooms and good service made the stay a very memorable one. A real boutique resort, well furnished and latest rest room gadgets. Kudos to Vimal and team, keep it up!

A great place to stay. Quiet and relaxing, with the friendliest service around! Nice, clean rooms, and a pool which is nice to relax in. Location: easy to get into town and explore. The staff will also arrange a ride in the canals, which is lovely. Highly recommend.

Had been to Bamboo Lagoon on the occasion on my wife's birthday, reaching the place itself is a beautiful experience in the boat. Bamboo Lagoon is situated about 10 meters away from the backwaters, the rooms are neatly maintained.
The view from the room is beautiful, can watch all the boats passing through. Food is very tasty & must confess had one of the best "Coconut Rice" there.
The manager Mr. Ganesh is a very friendly man & so are the staff, thoroughly enjoyed the stay & for sure will visit again sometimes soon, Cheers..!!

It was a excellent time which we spent in Bamboo lagoon, Mr.Ganesh who owns the place treated us very well and overall hospitality was awesome. Row boats were arranged in which we cruised for about 3 hours in the morning time.
We visited around 1st week of April, weather was hot and I feel Nov to Feb would be best time to be there enjoying the place in cold weather.

We spent around two days there! You can feel your home during stay because of the people there. Ganesh who is in charge exhibited great hospitality. You can watch all the boathouses and small boats passing through the canal. In future trips to Alleppey, We will prefer Bamboo Lagoon!

We didn't book in advance, so we just sneaked in and the first night it wasn't possible to stay at Bamboo Lagoon. But Mr. Ganesh, the manager of Bamboo Lagoon, organised immediately a very nice bungalow not far away. For the second night he arranged a pick up service to his place.
Bamboo Lagoon is a nice place where you can spot the houseboats. Rooms are clean and the room-size is sufficient. Unfortunately we couldn't connect to the internet although the router was working.
Food, especially Paneer Cashew, was excellent.
Location and accommodation we would rate 4 stars, but Mr. Ganesh made the difference, so we rate 5 stars.

A group of Nine landed at Bamboo Lagoon sometime in June, after reading good reviews on TripAdvisor. We had booked 3 double bedrooms in advance. It took us a long ride and some convincing skill to get the Tuk Tuk driver to take us there in the morning from Alleppey Bus Stand as the location was a bit off the main road. When we reached the location we realized we had to take a canoe ride across the backwater which looked fun and it was. The bad experience started once we set foot in the Bamboo Lagoon Compound.
We were greeted by the manager, Clint, who looked like a honest man and in total control of the resort management. When we inquired about lunch for the day he said it would take 1.5 hours for preparation and we agreed to it. He even tailored the dishes we ordered with special recommendations. After 2 hours passed the food started coming out in solo, with the rice coming out first. The next dish took another 10 mins more, and we were hungry like a pack of wolves. We had almost equal members who were pure vegetarians so we started our meal with just rice and Dal. The dal itself being a questionable dish as the resemblance and taste was akin to saltless potato paste. When we were about to finish the rice, we asked about the curry and were told by Clint that it would take more time and "he has cancelled it!". Well, we order the food and he cancels without asking us! The non vegetarian dishes on the other hand had so much chilly powder it made my Hyderabad Biryani loving/devouring friends run for water and tissues. Never had they seen so much chilly powder in edible food. For the dinner that night we decided to get some packed food for the Alleppey town and save ourselves from turning insane and jumping into the backwater in search for edible food. The claims of 24 hour room service is a sham!
Coming to the rooms, we had specifically asked whether we will be able to get a spare bed for the third wheel, and we were told it will be accommodated. Well, it might have been the case if the third wheel was a tiny person or a small child. We ended up doing some on the spot booking for another room in the same resort, of course, for some extra moolah. The claims of having all day hot water for a bath was exaggerated and the manager would in between keep turning off the geysers from outside the rooms, due to reasons best known to him.
The complementary breakfast provided the next morning was a mix of Sambar water and rubbery idlis with a final blow of questionable tea made some of my friends give the manager a piece of our minds and we were out of there!
To conclude, if you like inedible food with a mix of non working air conditioning, cold water baths, countless mosquito bites and unnerving patience to listen to the apologies and resultant stories in their defence, you might have to give this place a try.
PS: I have never had a worse hotel experience in my life!

Visited the place for 2 nights in Feb '15. The place itself is outstanding on the backwater's edge and simply tranquil. Getting to the place by boat adds to the atmosphere. Just sit outside on the verandah and see the large houseboats go by. Food however is another matter all together. Unfortunately there is nothing close by to walk out to. No one expects gourmet meals but alteast a basic meal is the least expected.
Place can be an absolute winner - all the management needs to offer decent food.
