We loved our 2 nights at bella homestay, the breakfast was lovely and tasty, the recommendations for tours to do in alleppey were great. The Tuktuk-Driver Afsal is the best tuktuk-Driver we ever had in India, he was truly amazing. We would totally recommend Bella Homestay for a stay in Alleppey!

We stayed in Alleppey for a couple of nights and couldn't recommend Bella Homestay enough. Biju and his family were so welcoming and friendly, and the bedrooms were very comfortable. They also booked a fantastic day on a small boat for us, where we could experience some of the smaller waterways away from the larger boats. Biju was also very help in arranging our onward train journey from Alleppey, thank you very much!

I hesitate to write the following about Bella Homestay, as there were some very good aspects of our stay, and Biju was wonderful. We were there for 2 nights in January. PROS: - Great location, walking distance to the canals. - Biju was very welcoming. - Sunita was lovely and provided a very nice breakfast. - Biju organized a great canoe trip that was our highlight of Alleppey. CONS: - Upon arrival Natasha was there to meet us and was quite aggressive over a booking problem. Our agent (in India) whom we have used for several trips before and is a very honourable man, had booked the room (we assume) months ago using a website, Travelguru. (We had a very extensive itinerary including 15 stops over 4+ weeks.) Apparently Bella Homestay has been having some difficulties with Travelguru, and according to Natasha no money had yet been received and the amount that Travelguru charged in the first place was insufficient. After a very tense discussion we were made to feel like it was our fault somehow (that may not have been the intent but that was how we felt). Natasha was then on the phone to our agent (who had already paid money to Travelguru). After what I gather was a heated discussion, Biju took the phone and worked out an agreement with our agent whereby our driver (who was standing there the whole time) paid Biju some extra cash. In our opinion, this situation is one that really needs to be worked out between Bella Homestay and Travelguru. It was an unfortunate start to our stay. - After checking into our room, we noticed a lot of mosquitoes. The door or window must have been left open at some point as no one else (management or guests) seemed to have a problem with mosquitoes. We spent over an hour killing a swarm of them (we figure over 60) that seemed to be gathering under the bed and in a wicker shelving unit. Luckily we had an old mosquito net that we pack with us and we used it here (first time in 30 years). While everything worked out in the end, we are saddened that these two issues impacted our stay. As noted, Biju was very accommodating.

We were given a lovely warm welcome from Biju, on arrival we were served delicious pineapple lassi, so refreshing. The house is spacious, light and airy, and the room was comfortable and cool, with a pleasant balcony, and everywhere very clean. Biju arranged for us to take a backwater trip by ferry and punted canoe, a perfect way to see the tranquil smaller backwaters. The shaded verandah by the entrance was a great place to sit and relax, and we could see humming birds flitting about in the trees in the compact lovely courtyard garden. Breakfast was served on the verandah by Sunita who was so helpful, friendly and welcoming.
