The staff was cooperative and the overall experience was good. The rooms have nice ambience,we had booked a medium sized boat.It just takes you away from all the hassle office jobs and makes you calm, you can just lay down and watch the sky with a fresh breath of air in the middle of the sea
This place is just spectacular and Xandari is a great way to see it. We came over 2 years ago and this is still one of the favorite days of my life! Seriously. If you're even considering this trip, absolutely go ahead and book it.
We were the only guests on board this houseboat and felt somewhat like royalty, with every whim being attended to. The three-man crew were welcoming and efficient. We had a big cabin with a king-sized double bed, and a large bathroom with flush toilet and running hot and cold water. Aircon was activated when the boat moored for the night at around 1830. The accommodation far exceeded our expectations. It was quiet and sleep quality was good. We were content with maritime safety (we have years of experience sailing these types of waters). There were plenty of lifejackets available, though some gaps in the rails that could allow the unwary to fall overboard. The boat engine was quiet and there were no fumes. There were very few insects and, though we dined outdoors in dim light, the lights in our cabin were big and bright. We had an interesting cruise around the backwaters, seeing how the local people live, fish and travel in this area. One night was not really enough. We had a trip through a local village by “canoe”, which had an outboard. We had to stay in the canoe but would have preferred to walk around the villages. The food wasn't outstanding but certainly very acceptable. We would be happy to recommend a two-night stay on this houseboat: one night was not really enough.…
What a wonderful experience. On our houseboat, the Achankovilar for 3 days. Slowly cruising down the backwaters of Alleppey on a houseboat manned by a crew of three. The Captain,Arun.Driver Shibumon and our chef Ajesh treated us like royalty. The boat was clean and well maintained. The cabin was a good size with on suite and A/C. The food was excellent. We had a problem with spicy food but Ajesh made sure that the spice was minimal creating very tasty food. The last time we came to India,we only did one day. Not enough to really get to into the atmosphere. If you want to see the backwaters 3 days is a great taster wanting you to go back for more! You could not choose better than to use this company.Until the next time!
This 'hotel' is actually a riverboat!! And we had it all to ourselves! We spent 1 day and night cruising the Backwaters, sleeping over in the most peaceful setting. Our crew of 3 - captain, crew and chef - were absolutely wonderful, and treated us like millionaires (we're not!)! From the fresh coconut milk on arrival, to the delicious and plentiful food over the course of the trip, it was like we were in the lap of luxury. And the guys were so friendly too, even taking me to the 'Government wine shop'! This trip is an absolute must if you're visiting the Backwaters. Highly recommended. And thanks to the boys on the boat.
