Local place, full of resident Indian holidaymakers and the odd German family. 3 star at best.

Beach is great. Absolutely no hawkers at all and no other shacks/hotels within eye sight so it’s relatively remote and lined with palm trees. In my eyes that’s just perfect.

The staff are very humble, lovely people.

Food and menu is great. Has loads of western food as well as local and Indian dishes at really reasonable rates. Like £3-4 per dish. They have a buffet breakfast and dinner which has a large variety and also make an effort to put on performances by local dancers etc. Which is really nice as we got to see the local traditions.

Grounds are extensive and very beautiful, butterflies and wildlife everywhere!

Tv in room didn’t work.

WiFi was really good throughout the property, no issues there.

We visited the hotel for three nights in the beginning of January. Now I hesitated regarding the evalutaion score because the hotel has rooms, which are spacious, but time worn and not well maintained. We had reserved 5 rooms. In all rooms we faced issues such as dead small insects in the bed sheets, and different sized beetles and other creepy insects in the room; blocked and dirty plumbing; old towels and shampoos etc from the previous guests, etc. Since this was not just the problem in one room but in all, I believe that the managment has to pay more attention to the training of staff and supervise them better.

So the rooms were not very inviting. However, hotel staff is extremely friendly. Moerover, the hotel campus has a very positive feel good ambiance. It feels like being in a real village with houses hidden in the fields or butterfly garden or the beach area. It is also a wonderful hotel for families: kids can do all kinds of activities and run freely. The entire hotel feels authentic, cosy and genuine.

Finally, we ventured into the restaurant and it was very delicious food at reasonable prices.

So despite the low standard rooms I still give Abad Turtle a very good ranking, since they really make you feel welcomed and at ease.

PS Marari beach is superb

I stayed here for 2 nights with my <7 old kids.

The property is overall quite beautiful, a quiet getaway, with a nice restaurant and a pool. They have a vegetable garden and a butterfly garden, although I saw only a handful of butterflies.

A decent activity room with Table Tennis, Chess and carroms. There is a fresh water pond around the property which adds to the scenery.

The beach is just a few mins walk through their property. It is not private but well maintained with a security guard. We enjoyed the sunrises and I was able to do some fishing too(you need to bring your fishing stuff though).

The reception is incredibly responsive and helpful. They arranged a birthday cake delivered to our room for my wife at midnight. Thanks to Shiju and the team. Really appreciate it. They also helped pack the left overs.

Bathroom has a small open glass window on the ceiling which was cool. Don't worry only the birds had a view.

Restaurant did not charge for my 6 year old which was really cooool.

Room service was quick but expensive compared to the buffet.

The coordinator at the restaurant(Vipin?) with specs was really helpful and he is very active trying to make it comfortable for the guests.

The evening tea/snacks(complimentary) on that small vehicle-stall is a nice idea but it is extremely inefficient when there are up to 20 people waiting. They should have at least a couple of such stalls.

Few improvements that can be made:
The room itself was not top notch. It was clean but it seems to be an old property.

There should be floor mats in the room. They probably realized this as on the second day the cleaning guy put a towel on the floor outside the bathroom.

We booked a twin cottage/double for 2 adults and 2 kids and ended up getting two small beds. They did provide a spare bed for no charge but the pictures definitely indicated the beds would be bigger.

Overall I liked the place and will definitely be back as we really enjoyed the place.

We stayed with our friends and families. we had a wonderful time with special care in Covid times and personalised experience. All our request were met by the proactive and every smiling staff of turtle beach resort. I must put on records the excellent service provided by Manager Mr shreejit and Mr Anup for make the bookings and coordinating our arrangements at the resort. Mr Bipin at the resort restaurant provided scrumptious food with authentic Kerala taste. All the sanatised arrangements, campfire, fishing, hammocks outside room and private beach access with chairs laid out added flavour to the overall experience.
It gave us the much need break in a safe and secure environment of the resort.
Thank you Team Abad

We enjoyed our last days in India at the Abad Turtle Beach Hotel.
Yesterday the Hotel made everything to have a phantastique New Years Party. Over 15 different hot meals, a big variaty of desserts where you could not stop tasting.
We were offered a big show with all top local folklore groups of Kerala.
Today we enjoyed a relaxing day an the beach.
You get a top service with towels on the beach and at the Swimmingpool.
Hotel Management was checking the housekeeping and asked us serveral times if we are satisfied with everything.
We can highly recommend the Hotel.

Beautiful resort spread across acres with lush greenery around. Great place to relax as it's very quite and you can hear the sound of the waves crashing the shores and they have a dedicated area which is maintained very clean and with a security guarding the designated area and one dedicated to close monitor as a life guard. The highlight is the food - Food was just awesome and if you love to relish authentic Kerala Sea food, this is one of the best place and the rates are quite reasonable. They are very accommodating and we stayed back after check out to have lunch before heading back home. I had booked three rooms for my friends and family and we extended the stay by one more day as we all enjoyed the time spend at Abad.
Rooms are very spacious and clean and the house keeping staffs are quite flexible to address any concerns.

We planned for a day out and finally ended up for a night stay after experiencing the hospitality of the staff , ambience and the awesome yummy food from the top chef - Mr. Gopa kumar. The restaurant manager Mr. Bibin was so friendly and caring. The beach was well maintained with experienced and friendly security guard Mr. Augustin The sunset at the beach was so beautiful and pleasant. They also have a Buggy driven by Mr. Edlove who helped us to transport our luggage to the cottage. The rooms are very clean and sanitized with all the facilities like kettle for coffee/tea making, hair dryer etc. My kids enjoyed the time in the swimming pool which was well maintained and hygienic. Bicycle on hire Rs. 100 / hr was also available to ride around the premises. We went to the butterfly park and vegetable garden. The caretaker of the garden Mr. Sasi was helpful and he explained about planting various vegetables and fruits. We also visited their indoor gaming area and my kids played table tennis. Observing all the COVID protocols this is the right place to go for a staycation during this pandemic time. We had an amazing time with a lot of memorable frames in our hearts.

Abad Turtle Beach is a beautifully landscaped hotel with large, lovely grounds. The gardens are meticulously maintained and contain numerous flowers, butterflies, hammocks and swings. Facilities include a large swimming pool with numerous sunbeds, a spa, badminton, table tennis and volleyball court.

All the cottages have beautiful locations and are well maintained. The staff are all very friendly, helpful and respond immediately to all requests.

I used the spa for a 90 minute deep tissue massage which was fabulous.

The restaurant runs a buffet service at breakfast and evening meal. These have q long time slot and a wide choice of great food. There is also complementary tea / coffee and snack at 5pm.

Outside these times, an a la carte menu operates for ordering lunch and afternoon snacks and drinks.

The beautiful beach is a 5 minute walk away and has soft sand. The waves are suitable for paddling and long walks but I would not recommend swimming in the sea for young children as the waves are quite large with strong currents.

The first thing that welcomes you to your rooms are lizards, torn linen and untrained staff. They don’t bother about guests requirements and needs. While the breakfast is on the only edible vegetarian option that is idly were over, during lunch there is no paneer. Housekeeping keeps failing their own commitments and expects you to wait for them to come at their convenience and clean the rooms.

Three night stay at end of longer trip. Hotel is well laid out. We had chalet 102 just back from the beach which was great (note the trees by the beach were used as a bird roost so a bit noisy dusk and dawn - which we were fine with). Really appreciated the butterfly garden / veg garden etc which should be applauded. Food was very good (note that as we weren't massively hungry in the evenings we went a la carte which actually worked out cheaper for us than the buffet). Staff were excellent including the lovely lady (Lali ?) who tended the grounds around our chalet. Beach nice and clean in front of hotel (although unfortunately there is the usual plastic debris if you wander along a bit). Couple of downsides for me : there is no bar at all, more loungers needed on the beach, if you want to get 'out and about' then there are limited options advertised, wooden benches in the restaurant are not comfortable!!
