Trip up to the lodge is off road from Rorkes Drift and you can make it in a normal car (dry season experience only) if you stay below 20km/h and drive carefully, its further than you think so take it easy. However once you get to the lodge and see the views its worth it. We had 2 units, one...

We spent 2 nights in this lovely guest house which is well off the beaten track. I am sure this would not suit everyone but the road in is no big deal as long as you take your time and it is well worth every second. We stayed in the round room with the spiral stairs which we found very...

Thank you for your review. We are delighted that you so thoroughly enjoyed your stay with us. Thank you for mentioning Mbali - our unit assistants try to be as obliging as possible to ensure that you have a good stay. And you have certainly captured the essence of a stay here. We visited here for one night, but wished it had been for longer. Lodges are beautiful with amazing views. Friendly and very helpful staff. Road to lodge is very rough but added to the adventure. Very remote though but all units have plenty of self catering facilities. Breakfast was lovely, great atmosphere we can't wait to return.

Thank you for taking the time to review our Lodge. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay. One of the highlights of our property is the remoteness and the peace and tranquility that comes from that particular aspect. It is one of the chief reasons that we have kept our road the way it is - it keeps...

We turned off the main road and found ourselves facing a 5 Km track which was exceptionally rough. We weren't sure our Renault Captur had a high enough clearance to get through. However, once in, we were committed and were glad we came in daylight because in the pitch dark, it would be hell. We should have been forewarned and...

We are always sad when one of our guests does not enjoy their stay with us. But I must thank this guest for posting this review on both Booking.com and on Trip Advisor as it will alert future guests to the fact that they should follow our recommendations of hire car (and we know that hire car companies are always...

Every aspect of this place deserves 5 stars - very comfortable and well equipped self-catering unit with all you could wish for and more, the friendly and well trained staff, delicious meals ordered from the kitchen and served in your unit, out of this world views over the battle areas, two well maintained walks accompanied by our guide, Max (a...

What a great review! Thank you for taking the time to let everyone out there know what your thoughts are. We are very pleased that our staff made your stay a comfortable one and that our little bit of heaven lived up to its name.

This place was a great and charming way to spend a couple of nights and to have a guide of the battlefields. The drive up to the lodge is a lot of fun, but slow and hard going - be warned if you have a small or low car, an SUV / 4x4 is recommended. The lodge is nicely spread...

Arriving at Rorke's Drift after our horrendous drive from Volksrust and New Castle was like arriving in heaven. A welcoming tour through our accommodation, a check on our dinner order and we began to relax. The beautifully prepared meal and a nice wine ensured that upon showering - in the biggest and most amazing shower ever - we turned in...

Thank you for a wonderful review. Also thank you for mentioning that terrible road through from Volksrust and Newcastle. Prospective guests must take cognisance of our Road Report that is usually sent out two weeks prior to arrival so that guests can use a recommended route...which of course is not the route that you followed.

I have just spent a weekend at Rorkes Drift Lodge and cannot fault the place. From the initial email communications through to the warm welcome at reception and final good bye. Thank you for a great review. As the drought in SA has us in our grips our lawns around the Lodge have become a haven for wildlife and at night we currently see herds of Impala, sometimes groups of Kudu, mountain Rheebuck, and at least 4 grey duikers have made their home around the edge of the Lodge. We even...

We are indeed very sorry that this guest had such a disappointing experience. As we cannot predict the times that guests arrive it is difficult for us to ensure that the friendliest person was on duty to check the guests in. Really enjoyed our stay there, fantastic view from our lodge. Loved the privacy and quietness of the Lodge, will definitely be back soon. Breakfasts were also very good. If you are looking for a place that isnt overcrowded and not commercial at all while enjoying being in the bush, this is the place to be!
