We had felt this lovely place to be a bit expensive when trying to book a stay on an earlier trip but there are few places in this remote area so circumstances had us stay there this time around. It was maybe not as upmarket as the price tag indicated but more than adequate nevertheless. The drive/track from the main...

The lodge is scenically located framed by the mountains of the Khowarib Gorge. Reception was good with a cool towel and welcome drink. Rooms are mounted tents/cabins with a terrace and an outside stone walled open air bathroom. In the rooms that are a bit crampy there is a non-stocked minibar, and an in-room safe (ours was locked). There is...

We have travelled 3 times in Namibia staying in total around 6 weeks in various lodges around the country. The lodge is located in a beautiful area and the main lodge (reception, bar and restaurant) is very well decorated and provide a very welcoming feeling. This lodge was promising when I made the booking and read about the comments and...

The location, set up and rooms of the lodge are really great. The local service/cleaning/bar staff and guides are absolutely brilliant and we even learned a bit of Damara language from them! Food is decent for how remote this place is. We were however disappointed by two things and would advise caution when booking. 1)the service given by management (non-local,...

Though most of Damaraland is dry, Khowarib Lodge is located on the banks of a river that runs year-round. The lodge is surrounded by mountains, and tented cabins are designed to catch the cross breezes, which makes sleeping really lovely. There're also fans. Cabins have netted beds, fluffy linens, verandas overlooking the river, and outdoor bathrooms surrounded by high rock...

Upon arrival at our camping site we were disoriented: it was very hot, the dirt from previous guests was still in the dustbin and sink, and this was the first campsite on our trip without private sanitary facilities, without protection from wind, and with a very very basic cooking area. Our initial reaction was: let us leave and find a...

Visited 9 lodges in Nambia in a 3-week period. I consider this the lodge with the most scenic location due to the mountainous landscape surrounding it. The food was not at par with some of the lodges we stayed at but the location and rustic elegance with some nice luxuries more than made-up for the little things. Book the half...

Khowarib’s own information pack (downloadable from their website) states that “Camping guests have full access to all lodge facilities and are welcomed at the bar, restaurant, simming pool, curio shop, laundry and activities”. The only qualifier made is that “Campers who would like to enjoy dinner at the lodge should however pre-book their dinner before 16:00”. This is, in fact,...

This was my favourite place to stay on the tour. Accommodation is in luxury tents with outdoor bathrooms. The scenery is stunning. Service is meticulous and management very helpful. The food was also delicious. There is a small pool, lots of birdlife and opportunities to do activities: guided walk, elephant safari, visit the Himba people. Truly wonderful. Thank-you.

Spent 3 nights here and we absolutely loved this lodge - was one of the big highlights of our trip. Rustic but very comfortable permanent tents built on the bank overlooking a flowing river, quirky outdoor bathrooms - the view from the shower was stunning - was also the best shower we had on our trip too (hot water and...
