If you want a balcony right on the river this is it! Listen to the water while you relax! Yes it's an older property, but it is very clean and well kept. We typically only stay at newer, higher end properties, but we were happy with this. Location is on the south end of the strip so it's a little quieter as well. The Smoky Mountain park entrance is right around the corner. Close by restaurants include Peddlers and Bennett's BBQ, and you can walk anywhere on the strip for everything else. Staff was friendly as well.

We learned of this place on a whim just walking the strip in Gatlinburg. It is like stepping back in time but wonderfully preserved. It was by far the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed in. My mother used to clean for a living and knowing what to look for from her teaching me from a young age, I can say there are no streaks on the tile, mirrors and tile floor in the bathrooms. Not even a speck on the toilets. All the pictures, lamps, and furniture had no dust! I was truly amazed with the care they show in the cleanliness of the rooms. The room was very spacious. Plenty of room for my 3 kids to run around in. Although, they don't offer eggs or bacon for breakfast they do offer toast, jam, butter, homemade donuts (delicious), fresh squeezed juice, hot chocolate, and coffee with room service. They take your order the day before for breakfast. They serve it on a tray with the 80's style cups which I thought was cool. There was a huge fireplace in the room and was a beautiful touch to it all. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They let us check-in before their check-in time. Pricing was affordable considering the other hotels around. The rooms had plenty of options for lighting such as low lighting or bright lighting to set an ambiance if wanted. We had a balcony that faced the strip because they didn't have any available on the Little Pigeon River side. There are plenty of restaurants close by and our personal favorite was Bennetts Pitt BBQ. Their burnt ends are by far the best. This hotel will be my go to from here forward! I have nothing negative to say about this place at all!

The Riverhouse has hospitality in spades. We’ve returned to the Riverhouse for years for our weekend trips to Gatlinburg. From their friendly and helpful housekeeping team to their on-site freshly made donuts, every stay is top notch. Gary at the front desk always goes above and beyond and Darlene is exceptional when it comes to service. Rooms are immaculately kept. Fireplaces in every room really capture the feel of the Smokies. The one time we did have an issue (that was out of staff’s control) they offered a free night without it being requested. We stay (well used to stay) at a 4 diamond resort in North Myrtle Beach that could learn a great deal about guest relations from the Riverhouse!

What a nice relaxing overnight stop. Nice, helpful staff and great location with an easy walk to restaurants and shops. I really liked that this hotel was right next to the Gatlingburg Trail. What a nice easy trail and great for families. We were able to do a 4 mile walk before dinner.
We stayed in room 301.Parked our SUV right outside the door and used a key not a card to open the door. Our room was very spacious and clean with a king bed, fireplace and a balcony looking over the river. It felt like our own little cabin with the wood paneling walls and older furnishings There was a large area outside the bathroom with a sink, closet area, microwave and fridge. The bathroom was very clean and also had a 2nd sink. I did think that the bathroom needed more lighting or maybe the bulbs just needed changing. A light breakfast of doughnuts, toast, coffee and juice (call and order at 8am) is brought to your room in the morning which was plenty for the two of us. There is not a coffee pot in the room but you can go to the office after 7:30 am and get coffee.
We really enjoyed our stay here.

We stay in Gatlinburg quite frequently and I am so glad we found this place! It’s our favorite so far, it’s so cute and you definitely feel like you take a step back in time with the decor. I was pleasantly surprised with how clean not only the room but the whole property was. The staff was extremely helpful and accommodating they made us feel right at home! Our room was very big and the fridge in the room was actually able to hold our drinks and what leftovers we brought in which was so nice considering the last couple of hotels we have stayed at it was like a puzzle trying to fit everything. The pool was so nice and was never overcrowded, you are in the absolute best location possible. If you are considering staying here just do it you will not be disappointed.

Super cool decor! Clean rooms. Love the keys to room! It takes you back to better days with the old fashioned way of reserving room by calling them, not on computer. The coffee and juice come in fun retro decanters. Donuts yummy. We have stayed here at least 7 times, if not more, over past few years. Love the creek and balcony. You truly must stay here when in Gatlinburg!! We love the aura, the staff....

This hotel is exceptionally CLEAN; is right at the entrance to the National Park and the rooms are huge. Sitting out on the balcony the river flows just a few feet below. It's location can't be beat with its access to the Park; great restaurants are an easy walk away yet the area is quiet and not congested. Every morning they will bring free donuts, coffee, juice, toast to your room. The place has an old world mom & pop vibe and everything is in tip top condition. I was really impressed

My husband and I stayed here on a weekend anniversary trip to Gatlinburg recently. We loved it! Such a beautiful old hotel. Very clean and well kept. We loved our balcony and the view of the river & little water fall below! It was very quiet and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. If you call for room service they will bring you orange juice and doughnuts in the morning. They were delicious and a nice touch! :) We can't wait to go back there.. So relaxing..

I picked the hotel based on reviews and recommendation from TA expert. On top of that, I wanted to support the local businesses rather than the big chain hotels. Nothing wrong with the hotel, but we were assigned a room with the garbage collection at 4am and 3am for our 2 nights stayed. Needless to say, we didn't have any good rest. I later found out the garbage collection is everyday and despite the fact the hotel was not fully booked at the time we were there; we still got a undesirable room instead of a quiet room. Very disappointed.

The location is in Gatlinburg at the very edge of the GSMNP. It's located on a river for nice views and sounds and within easy walking distance to trails in the Park and Gatlinburg attractions such as shopping, restaurants and OberGatlinburg. It's a dated hotel that's clean and comfortable with all the amenities you need and a friendly staff. In comparison with the lodging around it, it's inexpensive to boot. Don't pass it up if you're looking for a place that's clean, comfortable, inexpensive and the closest to the GSMNP.
