Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI

Glenstone Lodge receives a spectrum of feedback from guests. Many commend the attentive service received from staff and the cleanliness throughout the hotel, including well-kept rooms and common areas. While the rooms are clean, opinions are divided; some guests appreciate the comfort, but others point out the need for updates and repairs. The pool area is a highlight, despite some noting issues with upkeep. The hotel's location garners mixed reviews, with proximity to downtown Gatlinburg being a plus for some but still a bit far for others. The value proposition of Glenstone Lodge is debated; it's seen as affordable by some, yet others question the cost relative to the amenities offered. The inviting atmosphere of the lobby and the positive impact of recent renovations are widely acknowledged.

First off, my review...unlike others I've read, is based on the price point of this hotel. It's not fair that people expect accommodations for a king, but only want to pay like a pauper. We stayed here end of January 2020 for the weekend. Number one, the beds and sheets were clean and room temperature was comfortable. The bathroom is very small but gets the job done with a shower and hot water and clean towels. There is a fridge and microwave in the room but we did not have to use them. This hotel has a pool area that is an attractive feature for many, so the rooms that are attached to the pool attrium of the hotel will be noisy. We stayed in such a room on the third floor overlooking the pool area. I've read reviews of complaints from pool noise but this is silly. Normal people will know that if you are staying in a room attached to the pool you are going to hear people yelling and having fun, especially kids. People in general are noisy. I knew it would be noisy during pool hours and I was correct. The pool closes at 11 and it was all quite after that. (however, Sunday afternoon it was quiet like a ghost town since everyone had left and the wife and I actually had the pool and hot tub to ourselves almost all evening.) :) If you don't like the pool noise you can get a room facing the outside of the hotel and you won't hear it. I walked the balcony all the way around and pool noise was not an issue. The room walls are paper thin. You can probably hear your neighbor blink, but it wasn't a problem for me since my neighbors sleep time was about the same as mine. Front desk service and staff was very nice and we had no problems with them. The restaurant downstairs offers a buffet breakfast that is not included in the hotel cost, and I was expecting better food for the price. It was $7.95 per person and all the food was below average for Gatlinburg in my opinion. I think Gatlinburg has some very good food choices and if this restaurant wants to compete they better up their game. But it is not a huge deal since there is a pancake house across the street a couple doors down. Check in and out was super easy and we had no major problems or issues with our room. I got average accomodations for what I paid and I'm not disappointed. It is kind of dated, but it's a dated hotel at a reasonable price. Clean sheets, warm room, dated pool, thin walls. If you go into it with this mindset you probably won't be disappointed. I wouldn't have a problem staying here again but will probably get an outside facing room.

This hotel is located a short walk to downtown Gatlinburg. We stayed 3 nights here and really enjoyed the location. Overall for the money, this hotel is a good value for now. I say that because it is extremely dated and not modern in any fashion and if it continues its decline it will not be a place we would care to stay again. You can tell at one point, this hotel was really nice but you can also tell the owners have neglected it. The beds, linens are below quality in comfort and the pillows are sad, recommend bringing your own pillows, unless you like zero support pillows. The TV's are old, our remote would only work if standing a foot from the TV if at all. The hotel is rather noisy as you can hear everything from the rooms next to you and the outside noise is very prevalent (based on other reviews we knew to bring earplugs so our sleep was not affected). The bathrooms are extremely small without any fan. Our room, the popcorn ceiling was falling off in the bathroom and the chair to sit at the desk was broken. The public bathrooms are also very dated and need of work as is pretty much the entire grounds, The room is of nice size, our balcony was small but a nice touch. No complimentary breakfast or even an option to purchase on premises, my assumption is they chose to use COVID as an excuse to cut cost in this area as we've traveled a good bit during COVID and every hotel we have stayed at has managed to continue these services. You do have a coffee maker in your room with complimentary coffee but it is of low quality. If you have a small child they will really like the indoor pool, it is definitely the highlight of this hotel. Even as dated and old everything is, the house cleaning crew is excellent. Our room was vey clean as was the entire grounds and that was really nice and appreciated. Overall, this hotel is in a great location to enjoy Gatlinburg, has a great pool for young kids and is clean and for what we paid, was a good value. But without an investment from the owners, it's a matter of time before that won't be enough.

I was pleased with this hotel overall but probably wouldn't stay there again. The pool area is very interesting and definitely a highlight. However, it looks to me like it USED TO be a lot more fun and then lawyers got a hold of it. I *think* that it maybe used to be a diving platform as the upper pool is 9 feet deep, and that maybe a little waterslide went through the middle of it and spat you out in the lower pool. But they turned it into a giant waterfall and put rocks in the former slide area. So now its just a very tall conversation piece. The pool area desperately needs a bar. But doesn't have one. It is open and loud until 11pm and rooms are not soundproofed at all, FYI. I'm glad its open that late, but if you have napping littles, don't pick a pool view room. The restaurant is closed. The little mini golf putting green is pretty torn up but my boys had fun with it. Only two golf balls in the whole hotel tho. I don't like the outside access for hotel rooms - much prefer inside hallway but many hotels in this area are outside access. Ventilation and humidity is an issue because of the indoor pool. Staff is really nice and doing their best during covid. Our fridge worked, my parents fridge in the adjoining room did not. The hotel overall feels like it was really fancy and swank in the 70's and has never really been updated, just maintained and fairly minimally. Again, I don't regret the choice. It wasn't awful. Just would pick somewhere else next time.

BEST hotel experience EVER!! Room was clean and comfortable, the entire staff were FANTASTIC and the indoor pool and hot tub were AMAZING!! The hotel having its own trolley stop (which are free, by the way :) made getting around to the different attraction and eateries super easy. We will definitely be staying here again!

After reading many reviews we decided to take a chance of Glenstone Lodge due to location (walking distance to downtown), price point and the ability to have a wedding block. We had many guests coming in from out of town and check in for everyone went flawlessly. The rooms were all remodeled and VERY clean. The hotel itself was updated inside and we always noticed an employee doing some type of cleaning during out stay. The pool area was always clean, we noticed the hot tub being drained and cleaned multiple times as well. We had rented a small banquet room to use for a group dinner after our wedding and the employees had everything set up for us and they took care of clean up as well. Overall we had no complaints and everyone agreed we would return in the future!

This hotel has a nice lobby and a very cool indoor pool with a waterfall. (There is an outdoor seasonal pool as well.) The restaurant is closed due to the pandemic and they only clean your room if you request it as a covid protocol. That would be okay if they actually cleaned your room when requested. We asked it to be cleaned twice and it was cleaned once. When it was cleaned, it was only lightly cleaned. When you fail to do what is promised, you could at least apologize or do something to attempt to make it better. There is a weird orange substance in the bathroom and a spider web on the interior hallway light.

The staff is polite but they do not follow through. I had two room for 5 nights and asked for additional toliet paper and towels as they were not cleaning the rooms daily and they brought one roll. The hotel in conveniently located just a few blocks off the main strip and there is a trolley stop near the hotel, Several restaurants are within walking distance and your are very close to the Space Needle, but the on site restaurant (and free breakfast) is currently shuttered. There is ample parking here for hotel guest. The hotel needs a major renovation, as and example the rack and hangers in our room were very rusty. The grounds are well kept and the bed are very comfortable. Overall, the hotel just feels dated and tired and the staff should improve their follow through, Not a horrid place, but i couldn't say it was good either. If your kid loves a nice pool and a light cleaning of the room is okay with you, then consider this hotel, but I'll not stay here again.

Dear Joseph, Thank for taking the time to review your stay at the Glenstone Lodge. Due to Covid, your room is cleaned upon request, I am not sure why it was not cleaned as requested. During COVID, when you stay over, we clean lightly and the sheets are not changed unless requested if there are items on the bed, staff is informed not to touch or move anything! The breakfast at the Glenstone Lodge has never been offered free as you mentioned, when we served our breakfast buffet in the past, there's always been a charge for it. We hope that COVID goes away and that things go back to normal and that you may grant us another chance to better impress you in the future.

Great visit. Staff was nice, rooms were very clean, and a beautiful view of the river. It is walking distance from the strip. Heated indoor pool area was continuously cleaned up as people were using it.

Extra precautions during Covid-19 was taken.

I definitely wouldn't stay here again, nor would I recommend someone else to. Positives : front desk staff was very friendly, and pool is great.
Now the negative :
TV remote didn't work , nor did the volume. Walls are paper thin and you hear everything. Beds are uncomfortable with very itchy blankets and sheets. Towels are quite small and again a very uncomfortable. Pool towels are offered, however, they're the size of hand towels.
Bathroom is extremely small, in order to open or close the door you must perform a magic trick, and even then , good luck. Exterior rooms are awful and we did get to an interior room . It had a very pay by the hour feel.

Please accept our apologies for not meeting your expectations. I hope that some of the issues were reported during your stay so that we could have resolved them then. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the blankets and sheets, never heard anyone complain of the itchiness? The pool towels are exactly that and bigger than hand towels, they are not beach towel. So many enjoy the exterior rooms as they can sit outside instead of being inside 4 walls in the interior but I'm sorry you didn't like them. We hope you may grant us another chance to better impress you in the future! Happy Thanksgiving!

We stayed at the Glenstone Lodge in January, and it was instantly comfortable. We were there for 2 days, and I will definitely be staying here again in the future. We didn't use the pool during this stay, but it was very clean and well-kept. Our room was very clean when we checked in, and we didn't require any cleaning while we were there, but we always saw cleaners going to different rooms. I felt safe and comfortable during our stay, and the correspondence received before and after the stay was very thorough and much appreciated. We were originally going to stay a few months prior but had to cancel, and they were very courteous and gracious with their confirmation emails and asking about the reason for cancelation. I will definitely be back, and would recommend others to stay here. It's quiet and off the main strip, but close enough that you're just a short drive or walk to everything.

I booked two king bed suites at the Glennstone Lodge, booked them at two different times one I called in and specifically asked for a room with a balcony, second one I did online. I get her today on 4/16/21 for a 3 night stay and they put me in one of the few room with a balcony, so I go down and ask about it and I am told they could put me in a room for tonight and Friday night but Saturday night they could not... what since does this make! We all come several times a year but I will never stay here again period.
