I have used HJO the last three years. The first time I used the full outfitting service that included all gear and food for 10 days. The gear was high end. The food was packed with care, I still have the zip lock bag that Nancy marked "Snacks :)". I really appreciated the personal touch. The bunkhouse and showers were...

This was our first time ever canoeing anywhere in this area off the Gunflint trail and we also had never even portaged before. Dave took the time to explain to us how to lift and carry the canoe (yes we were that new to this) and gave us detailed info on how to navigate our day trip to Stairway Portage...

What a trip....Caught fish on every lake we paddled. Dave and Nancy are awesome! They help plan your trip as if they were traveling on the trip. If it's not good enough for them, then why send a customer there. Our equipment was top of the line. Especially appreciate the composite paddles. Dave noted detailed information on our map which...

Dave and Nancy set us up in style! First class supplies and so much food and did I mention treats... It's so beautiful to be in the middle of no where. So unspoiled. My hope is that it will stay the same for years to come.

We booked a last minute trip and had a great experience. Having the bunkhouse available made everything very simple for departure and return. Dave listened to our prior backcountry experiences, and used these to personalize our trip. Dave's advise on campsites was excellent. We came out a day early due to a lack of available campsites. This is a BWCAW...

Wow. Are we glad our family of four found Hungry Jack Outfitters. Every aspect of staying here to begin our Boundary Waters trip was a blessing. Dave and Nancy gave us great Boundary Waters tips. The canoes were the best high quality. The bunkhouse was completely adequate and clean. The breakfast was a nice start to a really fun trip....

Dave and Nancy helped our group of mostly first-timers, including kids, have a wonderful experience in the BWCA together. Their quality canoes, paddles, and life jackets removed risk of any complaints along the way and their advice of camp sites was perfect. While we brought most of our own gear except the kitchen bucket which HJO did have to rent,...

David took a lot of time to help us plan our canoe trip in the Boundary Waters. He also was the most cordial and friendly host when we stayed in the Bunkhouse which is a nice amenity for those of us coming from a distance to enjoy the resource. They were completely flexible and personal in their approach. His advice...

HJO is a great place to begin your trip into the BWCA. Prices are reasonable and the family does everything they can to make your trip a success. I have been using their equipment for a decade and always will. Returning customers get a discount as well!

Dave and Nancy have been here an awful long time, and they run a "top notch" program. There are never any surprises, or unforeseen issues- they communicate clearly what you can expect of them, and what is expected of you, and because of their commitment to clearly communicate, all our trips go very smoothly. Their staff is incredibly friendly and...
