What a pleasant find this was ! Had we known how welcoming and enjoyable it is, we might have arranged to stay longer. We were two couples who enjoyed canoeing, relaxing on the porch, and listening to stories about the Lodge's history . The staff was very accommodating and hospitable. We plan to return.

We stayed in the bunk house prior to a BWCA trip. After a long car ride up, we were treated by smiling staff, very clean accommodations, and a beautiful lodge. Great pancakes the next morning fueled us for my wife and kids first BWCA canoe trip. Minnesota is lucky to have such a World-class place.

The feel of your own home in the wilderness. Friendly, welcoming staff all the way around. Baked goods and meals that would best most 5star restaurants. Plenty for all ages to do and see while hiking or if you are more adventurous they are a well stocked outfitter. Although we just left this morning we are planning our return trip...

We have stayed at Clearwater Lodge several times over the past decade and have enjoyed it every time. This time we brought our grandsons (toddler and infant) and stayed in cabin 7. It was great to have the amenities of a washer/dryer and dishwasher and large great room, while still having a view of and proximity to beautiful Clearwater Lake....

Sandy and I were heading north on the North Shore Drive along Lake Superior, planning to stay wherever there was a vacancy in or near Grand Marais, not an easy matter in summer and fall. A call to the Cook County Information center gave us two options, and Clearwater Lodge on the Gunflint Trail was one---just 30 minutes out of...

We had a great time again! Even when the weather rainy. The lodge is a friendly place to visit, do puzzles, play games. The staff is always available to give advise, share a little missing ingredient for making dinner, pointing out trails and the conditions. They have homemade pies and Carmel pecan rolls to buy. A small store sells ice...

This was my first visit to the Boundary Waters and the Clearwater Historic Lodge. When I arrived at the lodge I realized I had a flat tire! The staff let me use their land line and asked if there was anything they could do. Being inside the lodge, I could relax knowing everything was going to be alright. The service...

This was our second time staying at the Clearwater Historic Lodge and already planning our third. We used the B & B plan and stayed inside the Lodge in Room B. The staff at Clearwater are great and very friendly. Makes you feel you are coming home to stay with family. A must place to stay if you are visiting...

My family comes up every year to stay at Clearwater lodge. The rustic cabins have docks and look out on the lake. We stay in 7 because it has a dishwasher and washer/dryer, It is a beautiful, low key place, and the staff is cheerful and kind. Also, they make pies.
