This is a perfect location for a visit to Glacier National Park because it is located just outside the West Glacier park entrance. The fascinating history of the facility and its relationship to the park complement the park lodges at MacDonald Lake, Many Glacier, East...More
This is the most expensive dinner for two we had in our two weeks vacation in Montana. The restaurant is located in an old building which was renovated in the late eighties, and the place is gorgeous. The staff is stylish, and there are lots...More
Really enjoyed our stay here! Super close to the West Glacier Park Entrance and easy access to restaurants in the area. We enjoyed a drink at the Belton Chalet taproom which was very good! Nice atmosphere and plenty of seating space outside.

Chose this hotel because of it's historic significance and the information presented on the website. This hotel is misrepresented on the website. It is a modest hotel with rooms that have been retro fitted to accommodate a small bathroom. There's noise from the train right...More

The station is right across the street from the Belton in West Glacier. Next door to the station is a little ranger station with a very helpful ranger. He sold us a great trail map. Remember, getting to the park will cost you $5 on the shuttle which only goes once in the morning and once at night. Same for leaving the park to get back to the Belton. Next time we plan to either bring our bikes take the shuttle into the park when we arrive and stay inside the park where the shuttles are free. Four of our favorite hikes were Trail of cedars to Avalanche Lake. St. Mary Falls and Virginia Falls are amazing and both on the same trail and the views of the mountains are spectacular. Logan Pass visitor center has two good trails that start there. The trail to hidden lake usually affords views of wildlife and when we were there lots of snow. Highline trail is very popular, but only my husband did it as the steep and narrow path wasn't my cup of tea.
