This was our second stay as it's in a great location for my husband and I for business. We had a very good stay the first time and about the same this last time. As a Titanium we did get a suite upgrade which made a big different. We did loose being on a higher floor, but the room size made up for it. We did find in the smaller rooms you don't have a fringe, but the suite did come with one. All the places nearby make this very convenient to getting around. I do agree with reviews that note customer service can be a bit inconsistent and that walls are thin. Without the lounge open it's frustrating that you get breakfast vouchers and always have to pay more.

Hotel's Favourite
My wife and I have stayed at this location upwards of 50 times since 2016. We consider it our home away from home after having moved out of Brooklyn when we come back on business or to visit family. The neighboring Aloft often offers better rates, but we much prefer the rooms at the Sheraton (especially the suites if you can snag one). Pre-COVID, the service and experience were exceptional for the location and price. Then, management unfortunately took the opportunity to cut expenses once the pandemic came along. It’s been well over a year (close to two) since the closure of the club lounge was no longer necessary, yet it still remains closed to this day. It’s inexcusable to have eliminated that perk for elite Marriott members for what appears to be nothing more than a cost cutting measure. All of that being said, the staff at the Sheraton Downtown Brooklyn is consistently excellent, patient, and guest oriented. Service levels have improved since the pandemic stripped this place of staffing and lowered its housekeeping standards for a bit. Things are pretty much back to normal, hence my five star rating. Elianna has been truly awesome on multiple occasions at checkin and throughout our recent stays! Thanks Elianna for taking care of us and quickly resolving the AC issue in our room the other day. I should also point out the location of this Sheraton is especially ideal for quick access to the city (5 min on the 2/3) and parts of Brooklyn (subway or foot). You’re truly in the center of it all. Ignore the construction in the surrounding area. And leave the car at home if at all possible because driving in the area is quite problematic. Also be sure to take care of the guys at Brooklyn Deli on the corner. Great deli breakfasts and late night sandwiches! To management: it’s time to bring back the club lounge perks for elites. 😬

The property location is not an issue -- It's close by to a lot of restaurants, subway, etc.. Can't blame the property for being in a shadier part of Brooklyn, but that's how it is these days. The property itself is very busy, you might have to wait for the elevators quite a bit. The service, however, is where I have issues. Do not disturb signs will not get respected, and expect housekeeping to knock on your door or just barge in. Combined with the aging hotel room decor, along with the absurd hotel prices in NYC, I wouldn't say this place is worth it.

I normally sleep well in Sheraton's but this hotel has the most uncomfortable bed. Please also believe the other reviewers complaining of roaches in the room. I didn't believe it and stayed anyway, I woke up in the middle of the night just from being so uncomfortable and when i turned on the light there were 2 roaches crawling on the floor. Stay away

This hotel have the most comfortable beds and sheets that I’ve ever slept on. The room is clean and modern. Yes I would love to come back again and again. Great location being right in the center of downtown Brooklyn. Close walking distance to the train stations and shopping area. I’m very pleased with this hotel and staff and the facilities in which I didn’t have enough time to take advantage of but next time I come to visit.

It gets two stars (dots?) for having shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, q-tips, cotton balls, a nail file, a shower cap, etc. I'll look past the ripped duvet. Other than that, I would have given anything to have stayed at somewhere else. Even a Holiday Inn or similar. As soon as we walked in, we knew it would not be good. The lobby smelled of sewage and maintained that smell the entire five nights we were there. Also in the lobby in the middle of the day were a couple of people who were not guests asking for toothpaste - the male appeared to be tweaked out on something, and the female was seemingly, well...a lady of the night. A Brooklyn resident later informed us to be very careful at our hotel, that she once lived in the area and there was a halfway house next door. That explained a lot, actually. But what it made worse was the fact that the security feature on the elevators that required a room key to get to guest floors wasn't functioning. No room key required. Full building access. I actually *removed* my "Do Not Disturb" tag each evening so as to not draw the attention of any unauthorized person who might possibly access the floors. It simply didn't feel safe. My coworker's shower heads were moldy and one looked down to find she was bathing with a roach. Fine, roaches. NY. I get it. But it's just another negative on a long list of them. They also say that their policy is no housekeeping unless requested. Great. We don't typically want it, anyway. A coworker was not given a "Do Not Disturb" sign, which she chalked up to the fact that we were told there was no housekeeping unless requested. She came back to find housekeeping had cleaned her room. If you're told no one will be in your room (and not given a way to signal to housekeeping that you'd like them to pass you by), it's a little upsetting to find that someone's rifled through your room. This is small, but if you are taking rideshare from this hotel, you can't put in the name of the hotel. They wind up on the other side of the block so you'll learn that you need to adjust your pin or put in a totally separate address the hotel can give you. Not all that seamless. And two out of the four people who picked us up told us the location is terrible for getting in and out. Finally, I find their method of collecting payment so ridiculously weird. I had a simple, consecutive five-night stay. For that stay which could literally have been one charge, I have SEVEN entries from the hotel on my credit card. Two of which are credits of various amounts. In the end, it looks like it's going to balance out to the correct number. But their roundabout way to get there is completely unnecessary and requires me to keep a close eye on my account and do the math to make sure it comes out to my actual final total. The only redeeming quality I found with the hotel was a really, really nice man who was standing out front with us and chatting with us while we waited for our rideshare. I'd say the coffee shop in the lobby (the Purple Rainbow Cafe) would be another redeeming quality, but I don't care for the smell of sewage with my coffee. It was rough. Especially for the price. I'd avoid it if at all possible. The Ace Hotel isn't far from there and is great. It's slightly more expensive, but our mantra for this hotel every time it let us down was "you get what you pay for." Indeed, you do.

This would have been at least a 4-star review if the manager hadn't cancelled my confirmed Suite Night reservation at the last minute, and if the front desk had told me about the downgrade before I swiped into the standard room they gave me. I had to call Bonvoy customer service to get the issue resolved and ultimately got a suite - but I didn't expect this to happen to me, especially with Platinum status, 70 nights this year, and a confirmed upgrade. I'm assuming the manager downgraded me because the hotel was either oversold or because of the lower rate I paid compared to other guests. I just happen to be an excellent rate shopper on Marriott's app, I check back on prices daily leading up to when I travel ;) The hotel did have a bit of a funky smell in public areas, but the suite was top-notch and didn't have the same smell. The hotel is in a location near many train stations and restaurants. The concierge lounge wasn't the most well-stocked but did have a machine that made delicious espresso. Like I said, would have been at least a 4-star. It's not on my list of places to stay again though - not after the check-in downgrade mishap. I wasn't happy.

Everything about this stay was terrible: from the noisy nextdoor dog park to the preset 6am room alarm clock to the dirty towels to the front desk staff Talia who called my room at 3:45 IN THE MORNING for a credit card issue!!!! I booked one night with Marriott points and the other night through Booking.com. Apparently, I was supposed to stop at the front desk again to sign for the new reservation. Our room keys worked and no one said anything to us or tried to contact us at a reasonable hour to resolve this issue. Calling to wake me up to tell me to come down in the middle of the night was 1,000% unacceptable!!!! When I spoke to the manager, Danny Lim, the next morning, he gave me the "talk to the hand" gesture and was very rude. He offered me only a $50 refund (on a $250 per night reservation) for the trouble. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!

The rooms were OK and the general stay as well. I actually loved the atmosphere - the music is played at the right volume, and it looks altogether cozy with soft lights and warm colors. The pasta carbonara was the best I've ever had. However, I was given no water nor any chance to order drinks for like 30 minutes. In addition, even though there were 2-3 waiters and only 4 or 5 tables with people, it took me easily 20 minutes to be able to indicate that I wanted to pay the bill. The second time I was there I sat at the bar - much better experience in terms of service. The Caesar salad was fine this second time, although perhaps fairly expensive at $10 without any meat.

Hadn't been to New York in 25 years and was apprehensive about where to stay. Initially, we were a bit upset with the hotel because even though we kept in contact with them about my delayed flight and our expected time of arrival when we finally arrived at the hotel (after midnight), we were told that we would have a half hour wait for a room to be cleaned and prepared for us. Of course this is the last thing a tired traveler wants to hear. However, when the room was ready, we were given a complimentary upgrade for the inconvenience, so instead of our double bed room, were were given a suite. It was a nice ending to a rough start. Also, the icing on the cake for us was the proximity to Fulton Street (shopping, dining, train stations/bus stops, etc.). We were right in the middle of everything we could ever need or want. Making plans to go back to New York in the spring, and I will definitely consider staying there again if not closer to the city.
