Stunningly furnished with antiques, charming and very comfortable (our Queen bed had a pillow-top mattress)! Delicious breakfasts attractively served. Cut crystal water glasses in our room, spacious marble shower, lovely garden. Our host was delightful. Also, we enjoyed being able to walk to the museum and fort. Best B+B I ever visited. Worth another trip to Rome.

This place is absolutely lovely and there is no doubt that I will be staying here again. As soon as you walk in, the interior transports you to a homey English setting filled with photos of family and picturesque prints. It feels a though you are welcomed into someone's home, rather than a place of business. As soon as we...

we spent two very enjoyable evenings at the Oak and Ivy. The entry way to the bed and breakfast was somewhat concerning when we arrived, paint pealing in places but when you get inside it's amazing. Filled with antiques and a wonderful host. Three rooms, our room was delightful with the amenities that you would expect. Breakfasts where excellent. This...

Thank you for your kind words...RE: the front entry... We have spent over 4 years restoring the interior systems and the decorating of our 1871 brick manse, to prepare it for the satisfaction of our guests and as you pointed out, that enormous project is nearly completed [although there will always be on-going alterations to all of the rooms] and...

A true treasure. I had the pleasure of staying in The Oak and Ivy for two evenings in July. What a treat!! Our decision to stay was solidified with a conversation with the owner, Fred! Absolutely charming and we just knew we were going to have fun. I know he is blushing right now...well, maybe not so much. We arrived...

Not blushing, but grinning from ear to ear... One of the great joys of running a B&B is meeting wonderful and interesting people from all over the world. These women were total delights and we certainly look forward to welcoming them back for another visit, hopefully in the not too distant future...

I stayed in the medium-sized room (double bed) for 6 weeks, while I was working in Rome. The room, and the entire house, is really beautiful. The gardens are very impressive. Fred is a great host, and it was interesting to get to know him a bit. It was also great to meet a number of the other guests. I...

This was the first time we have ever booked an extended stay longer than 10 days and it proved to be a very rewarding experience for us as well as our guest. Thank you Monsieur de Marquis D'Pearls.....

A fantastic house and stunning grounds are nestled in the middle of Rome. With only three guest rooms in this expansive home, it never feels crowded. Genuine English hospitality abounds from the welcome, attention to eclectic detail in the choice of furnishings and the garden, and fantastic breakfast fare. Fred, the inkeeper is a legendary host. Highly recommended. - Old...

Thank you for this wonderful review, you have expressed in words exactly what we are striving to do here at The OAK & IVY. Gracious and accommodating host in a home full of character and charm. We did a night there while cycling the Erie Canal and it was easy to get to and within walking distance of downtown Rome. We were offered some home baked scones upon our arrival and everything we needed to have a dinner we brought in, and a FULL...

Thank you, John, Although you/they are with us for usually only one night, we are thoroughly enjoying the cyclists who are riding the Erie Canal bike trail. Meeting people from around the country and the world is one of the joys of running a B&B. Thank you!

Stayed at the lovely Oak and Ivy during a birthday week jaunt to visit friends. Homey and comfortable, quiet and clean. Know that it is a bed and breakfast with stairs to climb and fans to keep you cool. Bring your reading glasses for the many interesting books. Enjoy your favorite beverage in the many nooks of the English gardens....

Fred was a great host in a great home built in the 1700's (I think). Fantastic breakfast and great conversation. Beautiful flower gardens, and beautiful rooms. One of the best b&b's I've been too. I highly recommend this place. Thanks for the hospitality Fred!!!!

Thank you so much for your kind words. Oh!, and by the way, the house was built in 1871...Victorian Italianate with 20 rooms...three of which provide B&B accommodation. Guests are always invited to make use of the ground floor "Drawing" and "Morning" rooms... We hope to see you again very soon!

Oak and Ivy Bed and Breakfast has now become our destination when visiting relatives in the area. The interiors are extremely well curated, with a unique European/English style. The space is very intimate and clean. The room (Sussex) is extremely well designed with a comfortable bed and very large shower. Breakfast was just like the one you always dream of....
