I have stayed at several other Hilton Properties in this area within the last year, and while all were very good, this was the best of the lot—definitely a 4.5 experience. I'll touch on the minor issues first. It is going to be difficult to find a street noise-free room. Three major streets in the area make it difficult. Grits at the breakfast buffet, no Southerner would ever serve half-cooked grits, not all the staff speaks English, and walking areas for dogs is limited. It was a bit chilly for other pool so I didn't try it out. Occasional Wi-Fi issues, not sure if the problem was the hotel or me or something else.
Good things, The staff, especially the restaurant's, is friendly, helpful and obviously cares about your stay. The breakfast buffet is very well done, the fruit is incredibly fresh, the chef's take on Eggs Benedict is well done and the eggs are poached perfectly. The sausage and bacon were well-cooked but not burned. Nice selection of breads and pastries. The scrambled eggs were a bit dry, but maybe that is me.
The rooms, bathrooms, bar & restaurant and other public areas were immaculate. Having great staff really shows. The squares in Savannah are a nice and colourful walking area. They provide great entertainment value. Would I stay here again? In a heartbeat.

Long time visitor to Savannah and as we were passing by and had a night, we stopped in and chose this property for the night. We have stayed at the Doubletree Historic Area previously and have enjoyed our stays and this was no exception. The location is great for River Street and the Market and while far west on Bay, it’s Savannah, so nothing in the Historic District is beyond a nice walk.

The staff from the valet to the front desk checkin were exceptionally friendly and professional. I particularly like the text message greeting upon arrival and the option of using if anything is needed. Nice electronic concierge offering. Grade: “A+”

The breakfast offering is beyond the norm with a nice cooked to order offering. The staff was quite friendly but stretched as many were seated when we entered. Food was tasty and came out hot which was nice given how busy they were. Grade: “A”

We checked out after a satisfying breakfast and headed home only to discover 2 hours on the road later, that an item was left in the room. Texted the concierge and received an almost immediate response that the item had been found, secured and an offer to ship to us. How fantastic is that? I can’t tell you how appreciative I am of that conduct as all my prior forgotten items weren’t “found” which I took for having been trashed and one recent leave behind at a different property resulting in housekeeping opening a birthday card to see what was inside. Grade: “AAA+”

The public areas are very nice. Clean, comfortable and above standard at properties at this price point. “A+”

The one “caution” for light sleepers is the property is on Bay Street which is busy and so there may be traffic noise as some other comments have indicated, so if you have that concern, ask for a south facing room and if that isn’t available, the hotel has included ear plugs as well as a sound machine in the rooms. Very thoughtful.

Great stay for us and no hesitation in rebooking here and recommending this property.

This hotel was just phenomenal! Valet parking is $30 I believe but I parked right next door to the hotel at a lot that costs $21 or $22 a day. The ambiance of the hotel is just amazing from the time you walk towards the door. Great mood lighting, soft music playing. The front desk staff was very welcoming and check-in was a breeze. I stayed in a King Suite w/ balcony. It was HUGE and just amazing. The balcony was HUGE and there is almost an entire wall of glass leading to the balcony with electronic curtains. The balcony had a small table and two chairs . I loved the fact that the balcony was private and you couldn't see either neighboring balcony. The room had a white noise machine and ear plugs available.

I had a couple of drinks at the bar. The bartender (can't remember his name) was great. I ordered a meal from the restaurant (southern catfish meal). It was PHENOMENAL and the portions were huge and inexpensive for a hotel. I ordered room service for breakfast the next morning. Very quick delivery.

This hotel is about a block over from River Street. The location was amazing. There is a convenience store right across the street . The Doubletree Historict District has a permanent customer in me. I can hardly wait to return!

Overall excellent stay. The room was very clean. The staff were so delightful and accommodating. Covid measures were taken seriously with distancing, mask requirements, hand sanitizer, etc. Very comfortable bed, noise machine and ear plugs in each room was a nice touch though I did not find the street noise to be a problem.

The hotel is In an absolutely perfect location! Right next to city market, across the street from the new and amazing plant riverside district/river st. Walking distance to all savannah attractions. I come to Savannah rather frequently and this has been my best stay thus far. Highly recommend!

We enjoyed our stay here. The hotel was spotless, making us feel very safe. The front desk staff were courteous and helpful, and always greeted us with a smile. The valet staff were also professional and friendly .

The location is central to all of Savannah’s historic sites and amazing restaurants, all within easy walking distance. Plus if you get too hot, which you will in the Savannah heat, the rooftop pool, though small, is clean and inviting.

Only grumble would be the noise of traffic from the street, which woke me up way too early in the mornings. The hotel did provide earplugs though, which with a pillow over my ears enabled me to drift back off to sleep.

We would definitely stay here again.

Oh Double Tree…

We have stayed here several times over the years. Usually on Memorial Day weekend. I also travel regularly for work (even Diamand with Hilton) even during the covid pandemic so we are use to the covid precautions and amenity adjustments such as scheduled room service, toned down breakfast and mask precautions. We have stayed 5 days and almost everyday there has been a disappointment.

The Positive first:
The property is located on a great edge of Bay St near the river walk and plenty of places to eat and drink. The property is aging but the lobby still has some southern Georgia charm. The valet service, which I’m pretty sure is contracted out is also very attentive, courteous, and friendly (they should be for $40 a day).

The Real next:
The rooms are pretty dated at this point and the carpet is getting sticky. Also our sheets had spots of dried blood on them upon our arrival. Oh Two Trees…

On our first night we asked for glasses and were told that the “bar was locked up and there wasn’t anything she could do” I literally asked for glass… There isn’t a glass in the whole hotel? So we drank out of paper cups on our holiday. Oh dos árboles...

We were instructed that house keeping was limited and we need to ask in advance for service at our preferred time. On our second day we requested service at 11am. We left by 10am and returned later in the afternoon. The room was not visited. We called the front desk and while they offered no explanation we requested towels and they were brought to us later. Not what we entirely asked for but ok. Oh miti miwili…

Later that evening we requested room service for the following day at 11am, again. At 9:00 we received a bang on the door followed by a “room service”. We answered occupied. Again at 10:00 we received a bang on the door followed by a “room service”. We answered occupied. We left the room by 10:30 and returned later that afternoon The room was again not serviced. Oh deux arbres…

Lastly throughout our entire stay the internet kicked all of our devices off the network daily and in the evening multiple times a night. Oh due alberi…

Overall just a mediocre stay with too many annoyances considering there’s so many newer nicer hotels across the street and being built yearly. We don’t recommend the Double Tree on Bay St. Also didn't get any cookies....

Whilst the Doubletree may not be a five star hotel in the literal sense it certainly rates well here. From checking in to checking out it was a very positive experience. Both Ashley and Latisha would have to be two of the nicest reception staff I have met in the USA - they really set the tone for a great stay. The Concierge Julie was also really helpful. The room had a bath, separate shower, separate lounge area, two televisions and a balcony (room 612) (630 has noisy aircon). The bed was comfortable. The location was better than the more expensive hotels on the river. Unfortunately our stay was not long enough.

Smelled like cigarettes, supposed to be non-smoking, we were forced to pay for valet parking which we did not want. The room cost 602.11 for the night it didnt include any breakfast for that price, had to pay additional 18.00 per person per meal. The hotel room was simply restocked bed remade and labeled as clean with the sticker on the door. The room was never cleaned there’s no way. The amount of dust, the odors etc were obviously not cleaned. The staff was confrontational and too concerned with being on their phones than checking me in when we arrived despite the limited unloading/loading area. When I asked about military discounts the response was no we don’t do that, so take that for what you will. I’ve stay at some incredibly cheap hotels that were so clean you could eat off the floor, this room for 602.11 per night I wouldn’t have even eaten in the room which we didnt.

Clean and comfortable, nice staff, in walking distance to river front and historic district but street noise can be a problem and ship fog horns sound during the wee hours. There's a reason the hotel leaves a white noise generator and ear plugs in the room. In addition, the window of our second floor room actually looked directly into the pool which was pretty weird. Desk staff said that actually the pool deck provided us with extra noise insulation. No worries anyway because it was 45 degrees and no one was swimming. Breakfast in the hotel restaurant was tasteless.

Absolutely the worst experience I’ve ever had at a hotel. It’s also one of the most expensive. The staff was just so uninterested in making my stay comfortable that it was appalling. I got there before checking and was fine with having to wait for a room what I didn’t appreciate was the front desk clerks refusal to let me leave my carry on and refer to a valet service nearby which “will maybe do it.” Also This hotel still doesn’t offer housekeeping services which is completely understandable. What wasn’t understandable was their refusal to follow their own policy on getting new linens and towels. After my first night in my double room (even though I specifically booked a king) I stripped the bed including the comforter and put it outside my door as instructed. I also placed the towels out as well. After a day of sightseeing, I returned to my room and found no replacements. No problem I’ll just call the front desk I thought. I called explained that I still hadn’t received my replacement linens, comforter or towels and could they also send up some toiletries as well? Sure they said. I called two hours later to follow up and was told they should be there in 15 minutes. 20 minutes later, a knock on my door and a person shoved two sheets into my hands and starts walking away. I called after him and said I need a comforter and towels as well. No response. At this point I had to get ready for dinner so I change and stop by the front desk. Explain on my way out that there must have been a misunderstanding but could they please send up a comforter, towels and toiletries while I’m out. Sure they said. Brace yourself because on my return still no comforter but a towel was at my door. It was late and I was tired so I just cranked up the heat and slept with a sheet. The next morning I stop by the front desk again. Explain the situation again, again as told they will fix it and lo and behold no comforter. I will not be staying at doubletree let alone Hilton properties after this and I would definitely say do not stay at this one in particular.
