We always love a quick get-away to Savannah. We live South of Atlanta, so it's an easy 3.5 hour drive. We love the JW Marriott...beautiful, unique rooms, the Riverwalk, great restaurants in walking distance and watching the container vessels going in and out of port. (I'm in the supply chain / logistics business!) Oh and we have great friends that live close!
First the property, then the troubles, then happiness again. The property: outstanding! Would give more stars for the excellent unique historical yet modern adaptation of a riverside power plant. This would have been an eyesore in the heart of the historic district yet with the addition of shopping, eateries, and museum quality geodes and fossils, they have extended and improved the River Street district. Trouble with windows: given the brick structure, there are a number of rooms in the Power Plant section that they offer as River view, but there is only one tall but narrow window. Room is decent size, but you actually have to take turns looking out the window. They are fifth floor with sequence 25xx; the even numbers face the river. I believe the city view rooms would have a similar issue. In the pics this is the brick level just below the giant glassed in rooms on the sixth floor! Happiness returns: with our insistence that the window was too small we were offered a 2nd floor river view room in the Atlantic building. This is the new music venue directly across from the Power Plant (shares valet and check in), and the room had a full wall of windows facing the river, and was wonderful. The suites are on the higher floors in this building but 2nd floor was perfectly fine and great for watching tug boats and freighters go past. Hallway and room were very quiet; I think even if there was a concert in the venue you wouldn’t hear it; hallway and room felt well soundproofed. All in all will likely stay here for future visits.…
The JW sets the standard for luxury hotels in Savannah. From the museum style lobby all the way the rooms it is beautifully built. The Staff make you feel welcome as soon as you enter and are willing to help with anything. The hotel’s amenities are top notch. All the restaurants and bars were amazing and there 2 rooftops have the best views on river street. We stay here everytime we visit and will never stay anywhere else because no other hotel compares or provides the same amount of luxury amenities combined with amazing staff.
Beautiful hotel on the river. Numerous restaurants and bars on the property and each one that we visited was fantastic. The staff is very friendly as well. The lobby is basically a museum that you could spend hours walking around and the hotel itself is right downtown so you can easily walk to other venues. We'll definitely be back!
This place treated me horribly. There were a few shining lights there on the front desk side, otherwise it was horrible. i had thousands of dollars stolen from my room. Their follow up was a call from security saying they would update me, and nothing came of it. I was staying there (for two weeks) on a digital company card. I extended a few times because I was sick and trying to rest. When I extended, there was a staff member from Vietnam who was extremely rude and deliberately trying to make everything more difficult. The hotel is designed for tourists who dont know better and or for families with kids who want the wow factor. Stay somewhere else, overpriced and not safe.
So much to love about this hotel, but room maintenance needs major work. Excellent location on the river, wonderful historical buildings with fantastic lobby filled with crystal geodes, a dinosaur skeleton and other cool artifacts. Loved the lively atmosphere and live music at hotel. Rooftop bar Myrtle & Rose had a fantastic view of river and a nice spot for drinks. Food was not great- burrata came without any bread, deviled eggs tasteless and cheese plate was sad- the cheese looked like it has been sitting out awhile. Recommend for drinks only. Our room in Three Muses building had a river view on 4th floor. It was a very nice size, very clean, and the bedding was comfortable. River view was exceptional. Do NOT stay in this building if your room faces the city street as there is loud music from the bars across the street. It’s not an issue with river view rooms but it is a problem for city view. We had problems with our bathroom and shower. The shower was dripping constantly and it took 2 calls to get it fixed. It also would only get lukewarm and that was never fixed. Water pressure in bathroom sink was almost nonexistent. We never received housekeeping service despite asking for our room to be serviced. For $500 a night- these issues should not exist. We will definitely stay here again for location and river view from room. Hoping room maintenance will improve!…
Beautiful hotel and incredible friendly and helpful staff, from the minute you roll up to the valet parking you are made to feel super welcomed! Rooms are state of the art and very well designed. Bed is comfortable and if you get the river view room makes your stay so relaxing watching the boats and marine life. The magnificent and will "rock" your world, kids will love it.
We have stayed at the Marriott twice now. Once for my fiancés bday and again for mine. The service we received was exceptional. From the valet clientele to the front desk, everything was perfect! Our view from our room was outstanding. I will stay here again and again.
Stayed here for weekend to celebrate my birthday. We booked a regular room, my husband is Titanium Elite for Life, so we were upgraded. We stayed in the Three Muses building, River view on 5th floor. From the moment you pull up, every staff member was so friendly. The valet is quite pricey at $51 a night but it’s a tourist town. They greet you with a glass of champagne while you check in. Our room was great. They had a bottle of Prosecco and chocolate covered strawberries in the room for us. A little balcony, kind bed, desk, couple chairs, mini fridge. The bathroom has a separate toilet room which is so nice. 2 sinks and shower. Robe and slippers were available. The River view allows you to watch the container ships go by which is so interesting to see their size! And the harbor pilot jumping onto the ships! The hotel has many different food options. All that we tried were good, the breakfast buffet, Graffito (pizza). We had drinks at all the different bars. We walked up to the pool, it wasn’t open of course due to time of year/weather. But it looks great, lots of nice loungers and umbrellas. A few cabanas. They have everything figured out, there are 3 different buildings with rooms. When you send a text for your car from valet, they know which building you are in and bring the car to that building.…
We stayed at the JW Marriot Dec 27 through December 31, we were placed in a room right next to the bar and live music, when we kindly asked for a different room that was quieter they told us they could not accommodate us, we did not sleep any of the 4 nights we were there due to incredibly loud noise every night, we were just exhausted from this trip. We payed so much money to stay here and it was our worst hotel experience ever. I am a doctor and responsible for patient care questions on vacation, I cannot make a medical error and being sleep deprived puts my profession at great risk!
