I used an online option, I booked 2 adjacent rooms with a shared bathroom for my friend and I. They filed the reservation for one room with one bed, and, when we looked the coverlet had stains. The only saving grace is that the woman working the desk agreed that that wouldn't work for us and didn't try to argue... More

A friend and I cycled from Portland to Astoria (just shy of 100 miles one way) and had booked the Norblad in advance, blindly, with just the word of several friends that this is the place to stay. When we entered our room (206 - NE corner if I recall correctly) my jaw hit the floor. What I was looking... More

nicely renovated old hotel. Very minimalist but comfortable. In the heart of Astoria. We did have to share a bathroom & shower. Not real convenient but you didn't have to far of a walk for either. Staff was very friendly, nice place to hang out

My boyfriend and I spent a quick overnight here on our way through Astoria a couple of weeks ago, and it was just what we needed. The bed was comfortable in our (relatively bare) room, and the showers/bathrooms were clean and well-kept. Just a couple of downsides -- very few outlets in our room (I think there were only two),... Loved the Norblad! Wonderful design, in the rooms and the lobby area. They also have secure bike storage in the basement - a big plus. Easy walking to anyplace in downtown Astoria. Friendly staff. Cons? The minimalist design does not leave anything to absorb sound. The lovely old wood floors and doors are very creaky. So you will hear your... More

Our room was beautifully minimalist in its design; in my opinion, the best way to do basic hotel design - less is definitely more! All crisp white linens and a subway tiled shower. The building is a beautiful Art Deco hotel like many in Astoria. It's a charming town that is definitely worth spending some time exploring. The hotel reception... More

Hello, Thank you for the feedback and the kind words. I am personally working to stock our kitchen so that it can be fully utilized! I'm sorry you didn't see the coffee mugs in the drawer to the left of the sink or the complimentary tea below the microwave. I'm going to label the drawers and cabinets so that everything... More

we had a great experience. I was traveling with my son and a friend to salmon fish. Our rooms were spotless and the towels were clean and soft. Asked for extra pillows and towel and it was not a problem. Remember this is a Hostel and Hotel. There was a shower just across the hall and it was never in... More

To appreciate this place you have to first get over the "ick" factor of staying in what looks like it was a flophouse at one point. Once you see the stark white rooms with gleaming hardwood floors, and pristine bedding all concerns are set aside. I came to see this as a minimalist work of art. Why aren't all hotels... More

The walls are thin and people laughing / talking down the hall can be heard at a great distance. They give you free earplugs here for a reason. If you're 18-25 or a night owl probably a fine place for you.

I stayed in this hotel for primarily one reason: walking distance to good beer. This place abuts Fort George Brewing, and is walkable to Buoy and Wet Dog. Check that box. I stayed here knowing full well that there is no bathroom in the room. That was/is a big drawback. When I was going to sleep at night, I was... More
