Built in 1787, The Morris House Hotel is located within a few minute walk of Independence Hall and is a National Historic Landmark. Their website notes: "Today the Morris House at 225 South Eight Street is a window into the colonial past." You would be thinking of rooms with wide plank flooring, furnished with Windsor chairs, four poster beds, and...

Really lovely place superbly positioned. Not a chain hotel & it shows in a very positive way. Be aware no restaurant on Mondays but plenty around the very near vicinity. Enjoy a unique old building with modern facilities.

Loved our first visit to the Morris House Hotel. Charming, intimate and conveniently located in center city Philadelphia. You can walk anywhere in the city from historic Independence Mall area and Old City to up town, great shopping and dining on Walnut Street. Spent much of a beautiful fall day on Pine Street, Antique Row. In addition to all the...

The Morris House Hotel is a charming, intimate hotel just a brief walk away from Philadelphia's historic sites. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. The hotel maintains the "feel" of a gracious eighteenth century home and it's fascinating to walk through the public rooms to get a sense of what day-to-day life was like in Colonial Philadelphia. Breakfast is...

The management thinks there is nothing wrong with their customers not getting any sleep due to noisy patrons --- even if the noise is the entire evening. They admit that the walls and ceilings are 'thin' and not hotel quality, but rather than have at least the standard of a 3-star hotel, they rather have below standard consideration for their...

Room was pristine and comfortable. Loved the "historic charm" of the entire area. Service was perfect in every way. Any time of the year would be a good visit, lots to do in the square. We didn't even mind the trembling of the bldg. thought it was an earthquake tremor, but ended up being the nearby train. Made it part...

My husband and I decided to make Philadelphia our destination since he is a real history buff. After reading the positive reviews, we decided to stay there rather than a larger hotel. We were not disappointed. After our gps had us going in circles, I called the hotel. Shannon stayed on the line and directed us right there, outside waiting....

Look at title, that's all! At first, good location in the heart of Philadelphia in walking distance of many sites. At second, the spirit of history. At third, hospitality. At fourth... At fifth... And so on. If you are to visit Philly, think about this hotel. The only drawback - there are no slippers in the room. But, seems, there...
