This property is terribly neglected. No paint or repairs evident and much is in need. Walking down the hallway you will sink up and down on the old boards under the worn carpet. A lot. No sound insulation. No WiFi in rooms, just a bit in the lobby. Truly a place to avoid. However, it does have an opera house...

The Amargosa Opera house offers a unique opportunity to stay in historic hotel in a ghost town. I believe there are ghost that also live in the hotel as well. This place IS in a ghost town--there are ZERO amenities in the town--there is no gas station and no restaurant and you will need to travel at least 30 minutes...

If you've read other reviews, you know this hotel is not for everyone. It's like staying in a museum. We loved it and are so gratefui to the people who have preserved this experience. The staff was wonderful about sharing the hotel's history with us: Before Marta Becket converted it, it was a hotel for visiting borax mining executives; an...

This hotel is very old and run down but has unique flavor. It was like going back in time when hotel guest gathered in the lobby and socialized. It has no cell service, landline nor tv. We were forced to the lobby for wi-fi. In front of a fire in the fireplace we were forced to meet some interesting people...

There are some who consider the Amargosa Hotel and Opera House to be a sad, lonely building in desperate need of a face-lift. Indeed, the hotel is old but it is deeply loved and has a rich and intriguing history. Indeed, the building is isolated but this only adds to it's appeal. To those travels who require the vapid comforts...

If you are looking for luxury stop right here and move on. If you like quirky, rustic, works-in-progress then you might find this place as charming as we did. There is no central heating (space heaters in the rooms) and some of the tiles were missing in the bathroom, but the beds were comfortable, there's a nice fire in the...

I can see why some would be creeped out here, but we liked it. Quirky, spooky vibe and a sweet story behind it. A desolate feel appropriate to Death Valley. The room was clean and sufficient. The staff were friendly; Travis was cool. If you feel like an hour drive for good Thai, try My Thai in Pahrump.

I stayed here for one night on a Saturday and watched a performance at the opera house. This place is truly a gem in the middle of the desert and definitely something you should see once in your lifetime - especially to learn about the history behind the place and the town. As far as the room goes - it...

From reading other reviews of this place, it is just what the doctor ordered for some, but it sure wasn’t for us. The front desk help was friendly and the lobby was cute and homey, with a dog and cat to greet you, and later at night a big wood fire going, a chess set, and board games. An adjoining...

Stayed there 1 night after touring Death Valley, like most of visitors I assume. Don't expect luxury, it's nothing like that. Friendly staff. Restaurant was closed at night and I left too early to enjoy breakfast. The room (#1) was very simple, the bed was not very comfortable. Not many options around there, so it's OK for 1 night. I...
