I stayed here for my visit to Cumberland Island and couldn't have been more pleased. The hoteliers were warm and friendly, prices are more than fair considering this riverfront location in a historic district and my room was lovely and clean (the shower/tub was so clean I took a bath). I stayed in one of the riverside rooms and woke...

We spent a cold night here recently. There were no blankets on the bed and only a small space heater. The cold water tap on the sink did not operate and the room was in need of upgrading. We have stayed in older hotels on previous occasions, but this one was simply old and dingy. Not worth the price even...

We read all the reviews and decided we would try the Riverview Hotel for two nights while we visited Cumberland Island. Yes, the location was wonderful. We travel a lot and have stayed in a lot of different types of places. We don't like chain hotels. We don't like fancy. We have even stayed in a 13th century monastery in...

We had read mostly very positive reviews and decided some people are probably just too fussy We were wrong. Now that we've actually stayed at the Riverview, we've revised our opinion and decided instead that some people have a very loose definition of "excellent." The Riverview really is pretty bad. The lobby is stifling, but that didn't bother us. What...

We only stayed one night at the Riverview Hotel, but it was nice. Right across the street from the Cumberland Island Ferry, which was very convenient! Would stay here again, and would recommend for others. Bar downstairs was open late and bartender was great. They will even make a picnic lunch for you to take to Cumberland Island.

The Riverview Hotel is my favorite destination on earth. I have been visiting Cumberland Island and the Riverview for decades, and even though the old girl is in need of renovations, she still has class. When you visit this hotel, you are transported back to a simpler, kinder time; one where people are recognized, and feel welcomed and appreciated. The sunrises...

Overall we did not have a bad experience, it is just as one reviewer said " a mixed bag". To be fair, I had read all the reviews, and we decided to chance it for one night on our way to FL. The idea of staying near the waterfront appealed to me, to have something relaxing to do in the...

and it shows it. Bathroom and A/C are completely modern and up to date and that's about it. Carpet on stairs is very worn. We were upgraded and given a good rate. Management tries but until there is some serious dollars spent, it's old and musty. Continental breakfast was nicely done. Loved the hotel cat and dog. Inadequate electric plug...

It's in a terrific location, particularly if you are going to take the ferry to Cumberland Island. It's got some great history and real character. But it's in need of a lot of attention. Everything is really run down. The porch outside has actual holes in the floors and is filthy. The windows to the rooms that open to the...
