Paid extra for “oceanview” but got room 1127 which is the last room on the 11th floor closest to the freeway and train tracks. Front desk told me ANY room above 5th floor is considered oceanview and there’s really no oceanfront rooms because the building does not directly face the ocean. It just doesn’t make sense to pay extra because almost all rooms count as oceanview anyway. I feel duped for spending extra only to get a freeway view and train noise every hour it seems. 4th floor rooms are dedicated to guests with dogs. They charge $75 dog fee.
Pool is by reservation only and with a 2 hour max due to covid. There’s no jacuzzi. Parking is $8 if a registered guest and $20 for day trippers to the beach.
There is a fridge, microwave and keurig. WiFi is steady.

The biggest plus is location of course. And a relatively low $8 parking charge as hotels go, especially by a beach.
At check in, the clerk seemed clueless and indifferent. Waited through the elevator queue as the middle elevator was out of service and got upstairs to find a completely unmade room from the prior guest. Back down to get another room. By this time I had studied the key packet enough to realize what I thought were breakfast coupons were not. So I asked, since my rate included breakfast and a welcome drink. He seemed confused, looked it up, had a breakfast coupon rapidly and then had to go on the hunt for a drink coupon. Looking at the breakfast coupon, I noticed it specifically said for one. We are a party of two, so I asked about that. He explained that it was only for one person for both the breakfast and the welcome drink. Who dreamed up that promotion that will do nothing but annoy every party of two who books the rate? I didn't challenge it further, as mentioned above, the clerk was clueless. The spouse was ready to cut losses and leave at this point.
Off to the second room, no Spire upgrades available. The room is pleasantly renovated, and the bed is comfortable. The bathroom is TINY and as mentioned in other reviews, not much privacy. Also as mentioned, you cannot hear yourself think on the balcony because of the highway, let alone hear the ocean waves. But when you close the door that blocks most of it, and turning the AC to constant fan provides enough white noise to block the rest.
For the welcome drink, I chose Chardonnay and it was decent quality, much better than I expected. For breakfast, I had the full typical hot breakfast and again it was much better than I expected. I did not have lunch or dinner in the hotel, but I do highly recommend the clam chowder in a bread bowl at The Fish House very close by at the pier.
The ONE Spire benefit granted was late check out, which was greatly appreciated given that I am working remotely and needed to get some work down before heading to the next destination.
This is my 10th hotel stay in two months. Other than location, this hotel does not have a lot to offer, especially at this price point. Doubtful that I would return.

Dear PSP Jeff, Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience with us on the Guest Satisfaction Survey. 12/5/2021 The hotel went through the renovation beginning in 2020 and finished in 2021. The guest room is nice, especially, the view from the balcony is very nice.
Tried to swim at 4:15 PM, but found the weather is too cold, which immediately reminds me that one of the Marriott hotels has a half-indoor and half-outdoor pool I had enjoyed two weeks ago.
Wish the hotel would have a hot spa (Jacuzzi).
If you would like to view sunset or sunrise, the hotel is good for you besides surfing in the summer.
I enjoyed the hot breakfast with an additional cost of $5 Bloody Mary's or Mimosas. The American hot oatmeal is far better than the one I had two weeks ago at one of the most famous premium hotels in the world.
The hotel offers Happy Hours M-F from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
It is worth noting that when we talked to Dylan DuPont, manager on duty, he was very friendly and acted professionally while waiting for a room available because we had arrived to the hotel two hours earlier.

1st time staying at the Crown Plaza in Ventura and will not be the last. I do not have one complaint. Everything was AMAZING! Staff was Awesome (front desk, maids, valet, both restaurants staff). Greeted every time I came in contact with them. Right on the beach, my view was breath taking, very convenient walk to downtown Ventura with lots of restaurants and shops. I Have told all of my friends and family to book with this hotel if they are in the Ventura area.

Beach Getaway
Crowne Plaza Ventura Beach
Location: Ventura California between Malibu & Santa Barbara
Hotel is located right on the Beach & next to the Ventura Pier.
Covid Compliant, Clean with Hand Sanitizer Stations throughout.
Rooms are Sanitized.
Staff is Helpful & Friendly.
Front Desk Anna Marie & Isaac were Awesome
The Hotel (like all hotels in California) does not offer daily room cleaning service, this due to the pandemic.
You can request towels, coffee along with any other amenities you need, they are quick to the task so you’re not waiting for a long time to have items delivered.
The Hotel offers a restaurant - everything is outside – food is decent – we ate breakfast (standard Egg Bk along with Pancakes) and had lunch at the pool (w/drinks) you have to have food in order to be served drinks.
The Pool is nice – not too big, with beach chairs and towels – (pandemic requirements - you have to make a reservation to use the pool and the limit is 2 hours)
Each Room has a balcony which is really nice because the views are of picturesque.
In Room Amenities: Keurig Coffee Marker, Frig and Microwave (no safe).
The Beds are comfortable, and the AC works Great.
Staying here you are close to the downtown area ((all within walking distance) which is loaded with restaurants.
The Beach is just outside the hotel entrance with the Pier located within a few 100 yards.
You can rent Bicycles - there's a long walkway the runs along the shoreline – you can see suffers waiting to hit their waves as you stroll, ride or jog along the path.
Very cool place to hang out with family or with someone special.

We really enjoyed our quarantine break in July of 2020. This hotel is in a perfect location with access to the beach, the pier and several delicious restaurants, including their own. The pool is nicely heated, the rooms and bed are comfortable and the views are incredible. Every staff member was friendly and helpful.
Covid Related Details: I would give their "Covid Cleanliness" an 8/10. They hit the mark on a lot of things like mask wearing, signage, placement of hand sanitizer and limiting pool reservations. I didn't however, actively see staff disinfecting any high touch points in the common areas (counter at the front desk, pens needed to sign forms, elevator buttons, door handle at the pool etc). I'm not sure if the staff was having to tell anyone to put on masks, but I did not see a single adult without one.
The room generally seemed clean. Sheets were pristine white and there were no obvious stains. My only concern was that there wasn't anything to show that high touch points had been disinfected (door handle, remote, light switches, toilet, sliding glass door etc). I would have appreciated either a checklist or potentially some kind of covers on the door handle/toilet handle/etc just to show these areas were for sure addressed after the previous guest.

Just stayed at the Crowne Plaza for a couple of days. Everything was perfect! The location can't be topped: on the beach, beautiful views, and just two blocks from a vibrant downtown. A block away from the County Fair Grounds (can't wait for that to come back!). The hotel is a relaxing oasis in and of itself. The Front Desk was very friendly and efficient. Julie made this a most pleasant experience. The room was spotless with the most comfortable bed and seating. Fridge and microwave is definitely a plus. My favorite part of the room was the outdoor table and seating on the balcony where you could enjoy your morning coffee or rest after a long day and enjoy the sunset. The housekeeping team is top notch! It was the day that CA relaxed restrictions from COVID and I asked the housekeeper if I could get a few towels refreshed and she sweetly said she would be happy to completely make up my room. This is after not providing daily housekeeping due to COVID regulations. What an unexpected treat! Breakfast in the restaurant was very nice and relaxing and room service was very enjoyable, friendly, and timely. Met some local friends in the Aqua Lounge and we greatly enjoyed the fare/beverages, views, and delightful fire pit!
All in all, a wonderful experience. Will definitely be back!

We booked an ocean view room for $300+. Instead, they gave us a room with a view of the parking garage! You would have to stick your head out the window and cock it sideways to catch a glimpse of tbe water from this room. Thinking it was a mistake, we returned to the front desk to get an ocean view room. The so called manager insisted this was "considered an ocean view room." Nonsense, we insisted on a cancellation and left. This property looks old and dingy, and the front desk staff is incredibly rude! Plenty of much nicer beachfront hotels in SoCal. Skip this one.

I made a reservation for adjoining rooms, was told they couldn’t guarantee, but they would do everything possible. I called again a few days later, explained that one room was for my kids and asked if any adjoining rooms were available, told the same thing. My family and I drove three hours and upon checking in was told that they don’t have adjoining rooms at that hotel at all. I asked for the manager, explained to him that I had been lied to twice. He said “look, I can give you rooms next to each other.” I said “I can’t protect my kids from a predator night clerk who sees a room full of kids in your roster if I’m in the room next door. I needed adjoining so we can open the door.” Then he actually said to me that since I’m so scared of pedophiles I shouldn’t have left my house and I had to leave the hotel. Truthfully, I had not even raised my voice to this man.
I did not deserve to be kicked out after being so misled in the first place.
I’m baffled and shocked at such appalling treatment.

Staycation in California-we drove south from San Jose to avoid the smoke and high temperatures. Great decision.
Plenty of free parking, right on the beach and Paseo, minutes walk to downtown . Beautiful clean hotel, spotless, excellent staff front of house and restaurant for breakfast.
Heated swimming pool outside is a bonus, great views from most rooms. Swimming had to be reserved, towels provided at reception, however everyone’s keycard opened the gate, so 2 families who didn’t book invaded the pool , so we left. That was the only negative.
Highly recommend this hotel, most excellent stay, great place to visit for a few days, spotless clean rooms.

a Bunch in downtown Ventura a walking distance from the hotel!
Sorry I can't help, we booked the executive king, west (sunset) facing room with 2 balconies. Loved it - sofa has a decent pullout bed if you need second bed; fridge, microwave +K-cup coffee. We didn't sleep on sofa bed, but did open it up just too see if it was acceptable - it is. Great staff, and food here. Enjoy!
I’m sorry I don’t know that answer - I would call the hotel directly to ask this question - I’m sorry I couldn’t help
