Woke up to bed bugs. Brought it to their attention. Didn’t seem to care. Took 10% off my bill. That’s it. Had to launder everything multiple times when I got home and replaced an item. Hopefully they don’t make it in my house. Would recommend staying elsewhere.
Hotel along far side of Ventura Harbor. Clean, modern, very comfortable beds, delicious breakfast included. Our room with balcony faced west to the harbor and a lovely setting sun. There was a daily parking charge. Restaurants located around the harbor within walking distance of hotel.
Just stayed one night but hotel was very nice. Large 2 queen beds with sofa. Bathroom large - tub and shower a little hard to get into since raised up off the floor. Liked the tiny patio off bedroom for morning coffee. And the breakfast was very nice .
Had a nice getaway with the hubby. Was warmly welcomed by two front desk agents doing the best they could given the long line of people checking in. Nice view of the Harbor definitely will be back soon!
This was the worst hotel of our trip and most expensive. Apparently there are two wings/parts of this hotel - a nicer part and not so nice part - same price for them and you don't get to pick. We booked directly through the hotel and are members. First, we did advance check in but it still took over half an hour to check us in. The girl at the desk was clueless! She then told us the wrong way to get to the room and told us to park on the other side of the building from our room (obviously didn't know where it was). Parking is expensive and not secure, but there is plenty. Really there's not much around the hotel -just the harbor. Room was run down and really needs repairs. So sad and dark. We were told there was a view but there wasn't unless you stood at the right angle. Spoke to the manager the next morning and he just shrugged his shoulders, laughed and said that they were planning on fixing it up soon and that it's needed it for many years. Only upside was that the breakfast was pretty good and the woman working there was nice and on top of things (we didn't see anyone else in the lobby so they weren't too full or busy).…
Place is very run down. Not clean. Doors were dirty, there were blood splatters on the bathroom wall and stains on the sheets. The doors slam shut so if you have a neighbor going in and out, it gets very noisy. We were on the second floor and could hear every step that the people above us were making. Also, since they allow dogs, there was barking early in the morning that woke us up. If you sit on the balcony, you won’t have a clear view of the harbor unless you’re standing.
Not a great start at this hotel. I had reserved a two queen suite with a jetted tub and a "patio" I was told that "patios" were on the first three floors. Upon arrival we were given a standard two queen room with a harbor view. When I called the front desk to inquire about the difference, I was told by the unfriendly and unhelpful front desk clerk Rebecca that the room we were in was what the computer said we had reserved. I was also told there was no manager working. I called reservations and they told me the reservation had been changed but could not see by whom. The beds were very comfortable and the fridge and microwave were nice and good quality. The harbor view was ok, but it is just a boat parking lot. Yes it is nicer than looking at the parking lot I suppose. The next morning I talked to a manager who said that contrary to what I'd been told by Rebecca, that the room I had reserved was available and that we could move, but that the room we were in was nicer. She waited our parking fee for the issues we delt with. So on the pluse side, comfortable bed an OK view and nice appliances. On the minus side an old building a reservation screw up and an unfriendly and unhelpful staff member Rebecca. I will have to give serious thought as to if I will stay here again. I am looking for a good hotel in Ventura as my grandchildren are there…
Although the building is a little worn down, the views from the rooms and the location more than make-up for any deferred maintenance. We had dogs, so the older rooms might be used for people with pets. Still, the bed was comfortable, the water hot, and the breakfast substantial. If you are taking trips out to the channel islands, this is a good place to stay.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this holiday inn. Sylvia at the front desk was so nice and helpful. She was the nicest front desk person I’ve had in longer than I can remember. Our room was a suite facing the harbor. The room was new and modern. I loved the modern bathroom. We had a nice little balcony and you could see and hear seals on the docks. The hotel was very clean and best of all breakfast was back to normal! Highly recommend!!!
This HIExpress is clean and comfortable. I was disappointed to find out that there is no pool, although some google photos about this location display a photo of one. It was too cold anyway to be swimming outdoors with the wind. However, you can walk over to the harbor, beach, and many restaurants (I recommend reservations - we did not successfully get into anything - could've waited an hour but we were fatigued and dismayed by the rude hostess at the Greek restaurant which kind of soured us on all the harbor spots - which will cost more), plus the Channel Islands National Park visitor center is right there. When you walk to the harbor you may see sea lions and some interesting fishing boats. Parking is $12 per night. The front desk staff (there were two ladies there) was very kind and helpful. The breakfast was very basic but good coffee.…
