Rooms are clean and very spacious; I particularly liked the quirky artwork on the walls. An ample breakfast is included. Service was very good. Upper floors have a slight view of the ocean, and you can watch the colors of the sun setting at night. Unfortunately, window also looks out on the freeway and elevated train, so there is some freeway noise. There is a pool and jacuzzi which both looked very nice, but I didn't use them this time. I would stay here again.
We stayed at the Amanzi Hotel for our 44th wedding anniversary. The first room that they gave us overlooked the parking lot. Most of the room photos are from the first room. My husband was able to get our room switched to one that had a somewhat view of the ocean. Although we could see the ocean, we also had a the railroad bridge in our main view. This room had a balcony where we could sit. It is not spacious, but it is a place to look out. The balcony has two sliding windows to allow the breeze to come in. The room was very clean. Because our room overlooked the train track, we had the sound of the train during the day and early evening. If the train ran during the night, we most certainly did not hear it. Having the sound of the blaring horn is not as bad, because it is short lived. They have a happy hour in the evening, so the first night, they had hot wings and popcorn, plus free drinks. In the morning, they provided a hot meal which consisted of a croissant sandwich with cheese and sausage, omelet with cheese, hash browns, Belgian waffle, sausage, bacon, fresh fruit, yogurt, cold cereals, hot oatmeal, fresh fruit, etc. We were definitely full from the breakfast. Although we thought that the hotel was still pricey, it was a better price than hotels in the area.…
I spent 2 nights at Amanzi and would definitely come back! The rooms are quite spacious (I stayed in a 2 queen room) and the two-sink set up is a really nice touch. The fridge and microwave were really handy as well. I did find that the room smelled a little bit musty and so I splurged on a scented candle purchased in Ojai. Even though the sign downstairs says housekeeping is offered only after 3 days, a maid knocked on our door on the first day and offered a mini clean, and kindly cleared our garbage and replaced some towels and toiletries, which was a very appreciated gesture. Some reviews complained about the noise from the train if your room is facing the ocean. An Amtrak train passes periodically and I could see how a sleeping baby might be startled but I personally wasn't bothered by it and I didn't notice any noise at night. I did find the enclosed balcony space to be kind of dingy so for anyone who chooses a room specifically for the balcony use, I found it rather uninviting. The free hot breakfast downstairs was enjoyable with a nice selection of hot foods including jimmy dean sausage sandwiches, cheese omelettes, bacon, hash browns, and waffles. Breakfast was not self-serve and I would have preferred that it was; it seemed silly to have to wait and ask for coffee pumped from an urn which was then served in 8-oz cups, so if you drink more than 8 oz you then have to wait and ask for another cup... Agree with the earlier review that it may have been appropriate during the height of COVID but now that the pandemic is largely behind us, would prefer that they convert breakfast back to self-serve. For anyone that is traveling soonish, the pool and hot tub were being renovated and currently unavailable. The front desk said it would be finished "soon." There was also no gym on-site, which I found surprising for a hotel of their size.…
This was our second time staying at this hotel. The location is great. Its just a few minutes walk from beach and pier but also not far from downtown restaurants and shops. We took Amtrak into town and hotel is only about mile from the station. Our train got in early and to our delight the front desk let us check in early, before noon. Happy hour is okay, free snacks and drinks and breakfast is pretty good, hot items but also a lot of grab and go items which was nice because one morning we left early to catch boat to Channel islands. Room is spacious and yeah its on the older side and bed was not the most comfortable but very quiet property and super helpful staff. We will be back for a third time.
The hotel is outdated but room and bed are spacious and comfortable. Our room face the 101 freeway so it's very noisy. My wife couldn't sleep whole night. Breakfast is above average but service is bad. There are two people serving us food and drink. One is doing fine, the other with glasses is rude and not friendly. We feel that we are mistreated because of the free breakfast. I hope he knows that we chose Amanzi and paid for that service. With that experience we think we won't come back to Amanzi in the future.
The hotel is in a good location, just a short walk to all the restaurants and shops on Main Street. Pros: friendly staff, clean & spacious room, gas fireplace (we didn't use, but good for cooler nights), two separate sink areas: one inside the bathroom with toilet and shower, and the other just outside the bathroom with extra towels, outlets, bath products--very convenient! Cons: AC unit is next to the bed, so cold air blows into your face if you leave it on at night; breakfast isn't self-serve--you have to ask the guy behind the barrier for yogurt, juice, etc. and then are expected to leave a tip. This may have been a good idea during the height of Covid, but it's a little weird now that we're past the worst of it. If the room prices don't increase by too much, I'd probably stay there again.…
Years ago we stayed at this hotel when it was under different management, and it was okay. Well, now it's really lovely! They renovated the interior and all the rooms, and we could not have been happier with our stay. Our balcony room on the third floor faced the hills and downtown area (we chose it over the ocean/freeway side because it was quieter). The good-sized room was beautiful and immaculate and had a couch and additional chaise lounge. The bathroom was roomy (I like having counter space) and the water pressure perfect. We had just visited Napa, and our room there, for twice the rate, wasn't nearly as nice as the Amanzi. Luis and the front desk staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. We arrived early, and although our room was not ready (we didn't expect it to be), Luis made sure that it was ready as quickly as possible. He also gave us our choice of ocean vs. city views and explained the differences in the rooms, helping us to make our decision. The hot breakfast was plentiful and tasty. Lots of parking both outside and in a garage. Looking forward to future visits.…
One of the very worst customer service experience l ever had.. Staff was rude and very unprofessional. Would not listen to request and management was just as unfriendly. A terrible experience and would advise against using this hotel
Beware, not as represented on Amanzi website. Not all rooms have balconies, and those that do face the freeway, and Amanzi is right on Highway 101, literally. Not sure what room has a fireplace, other than lobby. Breakfast is questionable, certainly not fresh or healthy. There is a happy hour, cheap beer and wine and a choice of chips. Don’t pack you bathing suit. The is no pool and no deck to sit on. Not sure what happened to the one in the pictures. Not much to offer other then location and pleasant staff.
We spent a couple of nights here while driving north through California. It's easy to find given that it's right next to the freeway but don't let that put you off. The railway also runs close by but that didn't affect us at all. We parked easily and made our way to our balcony room on floor 3. I'm not sure that the extra fee for a balcony is worth it, especially since the door to it didn't lock. A coffee machine, fridge and comfy bed made us feel at home. A simple breakfast is served up each morning. The queue ebbs and flows but the staff handle it all pretty well. Wine is served up in the evening too. The beach can be reached via a footbridge across the freeway from nearby. Across the road a couple of brewpubs offer suitable refreshments. Downtown Ventura is a short stroll away and the Botanical Gardens just a bit further but still walkable. Enjoyed our stay.…
