I usually stay at the Gershwin on 28th St. when in NYC, but wanted a midtown one this time for a 24 trip. Well situated for theaters, restaurants, MOMA, etc. I got a "single" room at $190. Predictably small. Air is hard to control, something I am used to in low cost NYC hotels. My one major complaint is the...

I was there alone and the room is a single. Although small, it was compact and comfortable, with a good bed and roomy shower. The elevator was definitely a one-person experience, but it worked fine. The staff were very helpful, and I loved the neighborhood. I will definitely plan on staying here again.

Some people like to buy affordable, less durable furniture from Ikea, other people would rather buy slightly used high-end furniture from Craigslist. If you're the latter, then Mayfair is for you. It's got a charm from yesteryear so endearing that you can forgive the minimal amenities and hint of wornness in certain areas. It's affordable, conveniently located, and has a...

Stayed 1 night whilst visiting New York. Great location near times square and Broadway. Simply pop straight out to the shops! The place is a little old fashioned but ticked all my boxes for a short stay. Reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and I had everything needed for my stay. My room was small but had air con...

Needed a room for 3 for one night. This room was small, had noisy a/c, & sofa bed was actually a sofa chair, but it was OK. Not the place to stay if you like to hang out in your room, but fine if it is just a place to sleep.

This is an older hotel, small but very clean room, accommodating staff. Great Manhattan location. Three women shared the room, but had no problems with the size. Eleavator old and worn, but working well.

Great location in theater district. A few streets from Times Square. European style so that is small rooms but who goes to New York for a big room? All you need is a good location, comfort and safety. The subway stop is down the street. The staff is nice and very helpful. Only suggestion is to replace the very loud...

We've stayed in NYC a few times a year for the past several years. You need to set your expectations at the correct level - this is NYC, not a sprawling suite hotel in middle America. For a midtown NYC hotel, this hotel is a great value. First let's be honest - this place is really in need of a...

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
