We had a great experience. Plenty to do right by the hotel . Rooms were nice and the staff was friendly and helpful. The views outside our window were beautiful and the rooms were very clean and modern. We would definitely return to this location .
You won't expect this from a "Courtyard by Marriot" and I had to double check that we are indeed in the same hotel but what is happening here is systematic fraud. So why those strong words? People book the double bed rooms at what they think is a very reasonable price in downtown Manhattan. But when they arrive here, they find two apparently stressed lady's too busy to greet guests properly and in peak times a long queue of people wanting to check in. A highly invisible manager is of exactly zero help. So after setting up a search for your reservation in the system they will tell you that the customers agency by mistake sold way too many two bed rooms and that they, sorry sorry sorry, can only offer you a one bed room at the same price without any compensation. People, after queueing for at least 30 mins. and a transatlantic flight are now facing to either find a new room or taking the bitter bite into the apple. The generous offer of finding you a different hotel room will lead to you waiting in a very fortunately photographed "lobby". If you think that this is only the view of a frustrated customer who's booking got lost go for the Google reviews and you'll see that this is miraculously happening again and again - who would have guessed that 😱…
Trip advisor and other sites need to update. Best I've pieced together by my research is this location was closed by Marriott in summer 2020 and another hotel took the location over, but never updated the third party sites, taking advantage of the Marriott name and naming their hotel "NY Hotel Downtown Manhattan" taking advantage of SEO and ambiguity. It opened in early 2022 and has gone downhill in reliability within three months. Reports of unfulfilled reservations and run-around. I called 4 times after making a reservation and was placed on immediate, indefinite hold. Canceled and looking for another place. This is a recommended BUYER BEWARE.
Do NOT book this hotel (it is not open due to COVID) and for that matter do not book the NEW YORK MARRIOTT DOWNTOWN at 85 West Street. Let me begin by saying that I travel often and am not the type of traveler who typically wastes time leaving reviews on the service I receive, no matter how horrible...The customer service in this case was, however, unconscionably poor and egregious. This is a warning to my fellow travelers of this hotel and of the New York Marriott Downtown. Long story short, I travelled internationally for my birthday. Made reservations to stay at the Courtyard by Marriott New York through Booking.com. Apparently the Courtyard by Marriott had been closed down since the beginning of COVID, and so the fact that I was able to make reservations in the first place is mind boggling. I only learned that my reservation had been cancelled when I showed up to the Courtyard after traveling for 10 hours (might I add in the pouring rain) and found the outside of the hotel shuttered up. A gentleman outside told me the hotel had been shut down, and pointed me in the direction of the New York Marriott Downtown instead. What ensued was passive aggressive and poor communication by the front desk staff at the New York Marriott Downtown, hours spent on the phone with Booking.com attempting to resolve the issue, and a bill three times what I had planned to pay. Take my word for it, from one frequent traveler to the next, avoid the Courtyard by Marriott and the New York Downtown Marriott. These hotels have no ethic and will leave you out in the rain. Even during a difficult time as COVID, the customer service standards of these hotels should be higher.…
I booked 3 rooms at this hotel starting June 3 and I was just notified they canceled my reservation and would be staying closing due to Covid (now?!). They did not offer any transfer to another hotel. I have eight people staying in New York for two weeks and it’s going to be hard to find rooms at a good rate on such short notice.
When we first arrived around 8:30 PM, we were told that we had to wait for 15 minutes s nobody was there to check us in as they has gone for dinner. Once checkin began, we were told that reservation was only for 1 night even though we had a confirmation for 4 nights. Next we were told that we could not get any room cards as their system was not working and to come next day for the room cards. Never ending mishaps!
I needed to be downtown early for my work as a volunteer at the 9/11 Memorial and Museum for the anniversary commemoration ceremony. The Courtyard is only one block away from the Memorial site, so it provided me the perfect place to meet my needs. I was able to get both an early check in as well as a late checkout, which was perfect for my arrival and departure schedule. The staff were all very accommodating and friendly. The room was clean and comfortable. I couldn’t have asked for more.
Amazing view literally IN LOVE. Facing the freedom tower... hotel super clean, rooms on point! We loved it! The 6th floor terrace amazing for lunch with a view! We will definitely be back! Customer service was great as well! And the linen closet on every floor a +
Booked a night in April. Received a message from booking.com that I would receive full refund because of COVID-19 despite the fact that I originally had booked a 'no cancellation' option. I send several e-mails to the hotel but did not receive any answer and no refund at all. At least, a guest should receive an answer if you ask a question...
- The bed was comfortable. The AC was working well (but we were not able to change the temperature). Still one of the best locations in lower Manhattan, however I recommend you to search for other hotels on the square with better management (even if the W is also the same chain). - checkin experience: actually the lady was not nice at all - room occupation: I booked and payed extra money for a king corner room with a view. What i received was a room with a view on the river and the construction site. Asked to change: I got the same room on a higher floor... - the room: just have a look at my photos. It describes all. The fridge with a microwave oven in the middle of the room (wtf?). It didnt even have a wardrobe so we were clothing from our suitcase for 5 days!!! The interior felt like a weak 3 star aparthotel.…
