After reading quite damming reviews of the Waldorf Astoria I decided to book anyway as it's an iconic hotel in an amazing city. Well, first off we arrived at 4pm on a Saturday afternoon expecting to be waiting in line for a long time to check in. However we walked straight up to a desk and checked in straight away....

Rooms very old-fashioned. Had very high expectations, but let down by very average decor and rooms. Has a lot of history to it, so everyone will have different perception to it. Maybe I had too high expectations

I love the Waldorf and have stayed many times, it is in a great location and an iconic building. The staff couldn't be more helpful and the downstairs of the hotel is beautiful. However, the rooms leave a lot to be desired. Many are becoming shabby and tired and some are very small. For the cost of them they should...

I stayed at the Waldorf for 5 days last week and paid 50 bucks extra for an upgrade. Given the name of Waldorf Astoria New York, I had great expectations from the hotel. To summarise Room Quality - Badly in need of refurbishment. Old Carpets, Airconditioner makes noise, Temperature at the hotel is not properly controlled. The extra I paid...

Only stay here only if you like history. The pictures and photographs are wonderful and tell a lot of history. Amazing that so many world leaders have spent a night or more here. Be sure to visit the grand ballroom and imagine being there on New Years Eve listening to the big bands of that time. Hotel rooms need refurbishing....

Living in central NJ, and working in Manhattan, staying overnight in the city rarely happens for us. But since we had a black tie function in the Waldorf, we decided to make the most of it, and stayed over. And happily, I had enough Hilton points, and didn't have to pay out of pocket! It should be no surprise that,...

I stayed at the Hotel at the start of the Month and we had a fantastic time. Granted the room was slightly tired in decor especially the en suite, but it was much larger than average New York size and was fine for myself, wife and two kids. This is a classic New York nostalgia hotel and the lobby, bar...

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
