It has been a privilege staying here as the Waldorf closes its doors in five days time. We stayed in one of the iconic rooms and yes it was tired but with so much character. Let's hope they keep some of that when it opens again in three years time. The staff are wonderful and can't do enough for you....

This was a dream to stay at this hotel. It is the most luxurious hotel that I have ever stayed at, and it's a shame it closing down so soon, as I would love to stay again. The main lobby area is lovely and a fine centre piece. All staff were very friendly and helpful. We stayed in a deluxe...

Sadly an end to an era comes next week as the Waldorf Astoria will be shuttered for lengthy renovations to convert the property into a multi-use facility. I have had the pleasure of staying in the hotel many times over the years. The service has been impeccable and the staff couldn't be more accommodating. The person I need to single...

So sad that this property, a NYC Icon, going away the end of Feb 2017. I surprised my wife with a trip to NYC for our 31st Anniversary trip. We upgraded to the Towers and WOW what a way to spend the weekend. The suite/apt was spacious and luxurious. The decor took you back to the glory days of NYC...

We stayed in the Towers at the Waldorf with our 2 daughters. Our room was HUGE. We had a separate living room with 3 piece suite and fireplace, desk etc. A massive bedroom, dressing room and bathroom. The Towers has some famous historical occupants who lived there e.g., Cole Porter and you can easily imagine that it's so spacious. The...

We really enjoyed our stay at the Waldorf Astoria. We were celebrating my husband's 40th birthday and the hotel went above and beyond to make him feel special. The staff were all lovely and the hotel is classically beautiful. Our room was in the tower, it had a great view over midtown. The lobby of this hotel is really special....

Rebecca V. at the front desk went above and beyond in managing and accommodating some complicated itinerary changes. She really made a difference. Fantastic property with many old-world touches. Looking forward to its reopening.

I love hotels with character, even if this means they sometimes have a faded charm or are a little worn at the edges. Far better than soulless glass monoliths. The Waldorf Astoria in New York is closing next week for refurbishment and will reopen as a smaller hotel. I hope they keep the Art Deco style and merely modernise. My...

I was fortunate enough to be a weekly resident for 13 years!!! I have traveled throughout my 30 year career- and can honestly say that there is no one like Jackie anywhere! We have been guests at the Waldorf Astoria for decades now, and it is closing its doors for a major renovation on March 1st. Yesterday, we checked out for the last time, and we're sad to leave. Our stays could not have been the fabulous experiences they have been all these years without the attention of the world-class staff. In...

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
