Wow! I'm writing in response to a devastating review citing bedbugs (Joe d).We just stayed 3 nights(our 3rd visit to the Franklin)and, once again, had a lovely experience. The Franklin is not for everyone:the rooms are small, no views, spartan furnishings, not for children. But it has many virtues:LOCATION:one block from two subways(East Side and Lexington Ave) and 5 block from the Met or the...

Went to the Franklin for a family event and booked four rooms. Tiny rooms are an understatement unless you're used to six inches around the bed, no closet, no view, no heat control, no way to open windows, and sink right there by the bed. Room number one small and scary, slept with chair wedged against the door. Room two,...

After reading lots of negative reviews I was wondering what to expect, but overall I was pleasantly surprised. The rooms were small but spotlessly clean and very comfortable beds, the free breakfast in the morning was ample. The hotel lobby could do with a little updating but the staff were excellent. I would definitely stay again if I ever visit...

Pros: Staff - very helpful, attentive and polite. Room - Clean. New bathroom fixtures. Amenities - breakfast (cereals, yogurts, muffins, coffees, hot chocolate, juices, croissants.) evening (wines, cheeses, dried fruits.) Location- we walked to Metropolitan Museum (5th Ave and 84th St) all four days (PS: we are senior citizens). Close by good restaurants, movie theater, delis, CVS, Starbucks. Cons: Lobby...

First of all people - some advice. Don't visit New York City if you don't like old things. This is an old building. It has a super freaky elevator with a cage-like ambiance. If you have an aversion to old buildings, go to Vegas. If you don't hate old things and you want to visit New York City and stay...

What a cute little boutique hotel off he beaten path but convenient to the heart of the city. Very easy to park and get to the hotel. Rooms are on the small side, but adequate and clean. Staff is extremely welcoming and kind. Pet friendly - no fee. Enjoyed our stay!

Great boutique hotel. We checked in quite late and were greeted with a very warm welcome from the night clerk. My husband had no idea how to figure out which room we were in--the numbers are little mosaics next to the doors. They are red and green. Guess who has the most common form of color blindness (red/green)? After having...

We stayed at The Franklin for 3 nights over Christmas 2016. We booked this hotel knowing it was a little dated with small rooms based of reading past reviews. The bathroom door in our room did not open completely due to limited space and we struggled to fit our two large suitcases. The wifi was reliable in our room, all...

Looked extensively for a bargain on a 2 night stay on the Upper East Side and booked online at a Hotel where many of our wedding guests stayed 6 years earlier. Had been promised a complimentary upgrade to a room with a King Bed & walk-in-closet but when we arrived by 7 pm were told by two very nice Front...

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
