We have stayed in many hotels in Manhattan, but we've now found the best one for us. Charming. Vibrant lobby, bar, and restaurant. Very quiet halls/floors 2-12. Classy and very comfortable. Great bathrooms and the upstate NY manufactured amenities worked very well and smelled wonderful. We were most impressed and appreciative of the wonderful staff. Every single person with whom...

We just spend a long weekend in NYC and stayed for the first time at The Algonquin and we will come stay there again. If you want a modern hotel with no appeal this is not the place for you. From the lobby to the rooms, this is a hotel full of history and charm. The staff were all very...

Just spent the weekend in this wonderful hotel! It is small, great locations, the rooms are cute, small but beautiful, plus a great location! The staff was wonderful, Patricia on the front desk and the hostess (sorry forgot her name)were so nice and helpful. The location is great a few blocks from Time Square and walking distance to Broadway. We...

I had truly a disgusting experience at the Algonquin. My colleague, when booking for me, has specifically asked if the room will be quiet, as I came after a grueling day and trip from DC. I also inquired upon arrival and was assured that the room (1204) was quiet. Instead, the construction started at 7AM or earlier and the "widowmakers"'...

Dear Policywonk1, Thank you for taking the time to leave us feedback. Please accept our deepest apologies for the multiple issues you experienced. We are really sorry about the noise level from the construction on 6th avenue. As you know, we are a boutique style hotel and so our rooms are not large in size however they are comfortable and...

Front Desk staff were very friendly and helpful. Check-in went flawless; we were early and our room wasn't ready but we weren't expecting it to be but we got a call as soon as it was. Love the decor of the lobby area, unfortunately, both the Lobby Restaurant and the Round Table Restaurant were blocked off due to filming planned...

Stately, warm and inviting. A place to reminisce about how the literary authors gathered to collaborate on their creativity. The hotel is truly charming in every way and the rooms are just comfortable with that "at home" feel, not like the ordinary hotel room. The furniture is very nice and suited for the time period when the hotel was built....

I just returned from a five night stay at the beautiful Algonquin Hotel. Being a native New Yorker -- although living in California for the last 40 years -- I could truly appreciate the history and trappings of the hotel. Thank goodness Marriott has maintained the old world elegance while updating. The service and ambience are impeccable. Our suite was...

I've never doubted any of the Marriotts' autograph collections as they've always lived up to their name. But this one, simply extremely disappointed. Really worrisome on how Marriott can possibly name it Autograph Collection??!? Rooms are outdated, carpets threading, smallest rooms in NYC, staff always arguing (amongst themselves), poor reception at the front lobby almost feeling you're doing them a...

Spent four nights at the Algonquin while going to a couple Broadway plays-within walking distance and some of New York's great museums- an easy subway ride away. We love this place, this was our 3rd stay there. This time we were upgraded to the Dorothy Parker suite that made the trip all the more enjoyable. Regular rooms are indeed smaller...

We stayed for one night while we were in town to see a show. Full disclosure-the room was free due to my husband being a silver Marriot rewards program member (although we paid up for a deluxe queen room). A few weeks before we arrived my husband emailed the manager to see if we could get a room with a...

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
