Stayed a night here because it was connected with a place we were visiting in NYC, and then got bumped up to a suite. I am usually pretty blase about hotels, but this was an amazing experience. The suite consisted of a bedroom (with an original Picasso on the wall), a living room with a grand piano, two bathrooms, and...

We booked a room (via the hotel website) at the Carlyle for four nights a couple of weeks ago. What we wanted: a pretty, luxurious room and the good service you would expect from a luxury hotel close to Central Park (we are widely travelled professionals, youngish, and have stayed in luxury hotels in Paris, London, and Venice, as well...

Please allow me to express my sincerest apologies for the inconveniences and disappointments you experienced during your stay, from the condition of your accommodation to the service you received from our front desk and elevator operators. It is simply inexcusable, and I know my apologies cannot even begin to make amends for the frustrations you felt while visiting New York....

Our room wasn't ready when we arrived but the front end person invited us to wait in the lounge or bar and have a drink at their expense. Then she escorted us over ther. That's great service. When our room was ready we had been upgraded to a very nice and comfortable suite. Again that's great service. Is it expensive...

the room was wonderful, the area was fantastic. All good, except dogs are aloud in the hotel and we had a little yapper in room next to us. I'm sure if I complained it would have been handled; but only for one afternoon I was doing emails. This was both business and pleasure as we were there for our daughters...

Enjoyed a week at the Carlyle. The hotel staff was always helpful. Our stay was made better by the attention of Anthony in the restaurant and Stephanie, the concierge. All of her recommendations were perfect and wonderful. Our only reason not to stay is access and accomodations for guests using a wheel chair. The main entry doors are too small...

History does not make this hotel any better than any other in New York City. This is another hotel pretending to be first class and it is nowhere near first class, nothing special. Make history, my fellow readers, and stay at another hotel, for you as the paying customer will make history. The Management of this hotel has one aim,...

One of the benefits of travelling is that when you find a place that you love, it really is like finding a home away from home. We stumbled upon the Carlyle many years ago and has since become our favorite hotel in New York City. The staff is among the best in New York City. It makes our children (and...

I've stayed at the Carlyle around two dozens times over the last several years and it's been wonderful every time. From the bellmen, front desk, room service, restaurant, concierge, all staff make you feel welcome and cozy at this lovely traditional NYC landmark hotel. It's simple and elegant, reserved yet happening. There may be "better" hotels in the city but...

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
