We have been looking for a really nice hotel to stay in for our 1-2 yearly family visits to NYC after Essex House got a new owner and the service level there went down as did the quality of the breakfast. The Carlyle is truly great. A dignified and quiet hotel. Only one block from Central Park, which we do...

It is also a true pleasure to hear you enjoyed the room, breakfast buffet, gym facilities and location as well. Thank you so much for staying with us...

I stayed here with my mom and teenage daughter for a long weekend trip. It was a great location a block from Central Park. Ask for room on floor 18 or higher to get a great view. The service was impeccable! From the door man, elevator man, front desk staff and the wait staff in the restaurant. The Breakfast buffet...

I have stayed at this landmark hotel countless times and am never disappointed. Didn't want to pass on the opportunity to congratulate the hotel and its staff for staying a cut above the rest. As ever a joy to stay at a home away from home.

Just back from 6 nights at the Carlyle. We booked a package with Expedia and price seemed too good to be true. We had some concerns that the room may not be that good. We needn't have worried. The room was spacious, comfortable, quiet and clean. The hotel was in a good location two blocks from the subway. Staff were...

I have been coming to the Carlyle since 1990/1989? First as a single young girl, the for business then as a married woman and now as a divorcee. I travel to NYC several times per year and this year alone I would have stayed a total of 30 nights! I have always been treated incredibly well and I have always...

Please know we are so appreciative of your loyalty to The Carlyle over the past 25 years. This is certainly not how we wish our guests to feel and rest assured we are investigating the matter to ensure this does...

I am not reviewing accommodation - this a review of the Bar off the hotels lobby. And what a wonderful experience that is. A dim lit space with tables and table lamps, white coated waiters and fabulous music with piano player singing with back up vocalists and other musicians. It's the type of NYC experience I look for. Cover charge...

Stayed at the Carlyle for 6 nights and I have to say that it live up to its reputation. Service was top-notch and there was always someone around to ask if we had questions. At first, i wasn't too sure about the elevator guys but I came to love them after a day or so. They are really classy employees....

My stay here was paid for by my hosts, so my view is not jaundiced by the ridiculously high prices, but if you're paying your own way, you'll probably want to know that breakfast at the Carlyle will set you back $40-50 for a pancake or a waffle. Coffee is $9 a cup. And you're invited to tip both the...

Please allow me to express my sincerest apologies for the inconveniences and disappointments you experienced during your stay, including the issues you experienced with the remote control and the lamps in the room. Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
