OYO Hotel Times Square A TRUE DESTINATION AMONG TIMES SQUARE HOTELS We're modern, but not everything-is-beige modern. The opposite, in fact, which you'll notice the moment you enter the lobby. We're a bit showy-this is the Theater District, after all-but we're also welcoming, with rooms and suites that enfold you in comfort. Our location puts all that makes New York amazing at your fingertips. Serendipity 3 that has charmed New Yorkers and visitors alike with their famed frozen hot chocolate in their historic spot on the Upper East Side, is now in our lobby. But of course, you're going to order the aforementioned frozen hot chocolate, but don't sleep on the Times Square exclusive savory Sunday Chicken Dinner SVisit off-the-beaten-path restaurants in Hell's Kitchen, stroll through Central Park, or hop on one of the nearby subway lines and visit Brooklyn or renowned museums. It's easy from here, and our concierge can help ease the way.

Nestled in the heart of Times Square, OYO Times Square garners praise for its superb location, which makes it a convenient base for exploration. However, the atmosphere is a blend of positives and negatives, with a charming lobby contrasted by rooms that guests find basic and in need of an update. While some staff members are commended for their friendliness, service often falls short, marred by reports of unresponsiveness and deposit issues.
Room complaints center around size, noise, and occasional cleanliness oversights. Moreover, the noise levels from construction and thin walls disturb many a guest's stay. Despite the rooms being generally clean, amenities draw criticism for hidden fees and slow elevators, contributing to a perception of subpar value.

The best thing is its location (5 minutes walk from Times Square) and the worst thing is how small the rooms are. They are very big beds, yes, and it is a hotel to sleep, shower and go out to see NY, without further ado. The staff speaks Spanish and is very friendly and attentive. One warning: at check-in they charge the tourist tax (the Resort Fee) which is about $50 per room per night (they charge it in all hotels) but also, to our surprise, they ask for your credit card because they keep you , as a deposit, $100 per night. Once you check out and after a few days, they will refund the deposit money if they have seen that everything has been correct in the room or there is no damage.

Don’t believe all the bad reviews you read about this hotel. We stayed early December & the hotel is in a prime location yet no noise could be heard from rooms. Clean rooms, great reception area with the added convenience of having ‘Serendipity cafe’ attached to the hotel! Staff couldn’t be more helpful, totally recommend OYO Hotel & if we were to return we wouldn’t hesitate booking in here again!

We stayed 6 nights in this hotel in the center of Time Square, the location is excellent and from here you can easily move to every location even on foot. You are in the center of social life and you don't hear any noise in your room at night and you sleep well. Small but comfortable room in the end you just have to sleep in it and after a busy day in New York you go to sleep straight away. The room is small and to go from one side of the bed to the other, in our case we had to be careful because our legs hit the iron bed as well as being careful of our shoulders hitting the large TV. In short, not one of the best rooms but in the end we were fine. The hotel is undergoing renovations so some areas in the lobby were not accessible. The staff is very kind and helpful. We would like to recommend the hotel. The only negative note, they advised us to reach the airport with their taxi service for $95 all inclusive of tax and tip... (Comfortable car and friendly and helpful driver) but upon payment he asked us for $95 + tax + tip for a total of 130 dollars, so not really all inclusive, that's why we were disappointed, we could have spent much less with a normal taxi but we trusted what was said at the hotel, too bad. So if you happen to take the normal taxi you will save at least 4050 dollars! Apart from this everything ok.

MARIA! I would rebook this hotel just because of one employee who works there named Maria. We were having a negative experience on the trip and the only reason we ended up having a good experience was because of Maria. She was so kind and did everything she could to give my friend and myself the best experience possible. My trip was towards the end of June 2024 and almost 4 months later I am writing this review because that’s how much Maria impacted our trip, I had to make sure I wrote this up to make sure she got some credit for being an amazing employee and human. Maria literally made our experience worth it during this trip!

The location of this hotel can not be beat, but there is several other hotels on this road that I would pick first.
The rooms are more than basic with no where for clothes and no room for luggage. The walls are paper thin and the bathroom is tiny. All things I could have lived with.
We were hit with a surprise charge of $400 dollars for a security deposit which has to be paid by card. That is on-top of the $200 on fees and taxes. The hotel staff were rude and unhelpful when making simple requests of more toilet paper in the rooms and a fork so we could eat our take out in the room.
The bed was literally on its last legs with a bent pole in the middle it made a noice and shook everytime there was a slight movement the walls looked like they had been drawn on and barley wiped off.
Very hostel vibes, for the price you can get a much nicer hotel just outside the centre for the same if not cheaper price - will not be staying again

Y9599STemilyw, it is unfortunate to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations. The convenience of the location is noted, and it's regrettable that other aspects didn't align with your needs. Concerns about charges and room amenities, as well as interactions with team members, are taken seriously. Every effort is made to ensure guest satisfaction, and feedback is valued for improvement. Safe travels on your future journeys.

We stayed for 3 nights at the OYO Times Square from June 13-16, 2024. I was a little worried about staying here after reading all the negative comments, but I have no complaints whatsoever! Even if our air conditioner leaked on our bed the first night, the staff was friendly and accommodating and switched us rooms so the maintenance guy could go in and fix it (this issue can happen anywhere, should not trigger a bad review).
Were the rooms small? Yes, and we knew this going in. Was it clean? Yes, and that's all that matters and is important to us, as we're only in there to sleep and clean ourselves. If you plan on staying in your room on your vacation and want space, then you definitely need to pay much more in a different hotel. Shower had nice hot water with great pressure, no issues!
Staff was friendly and informative for our first trip to NYC. They do provide parking, but not at it's location, it's located at 8th Ave & 49th street for $40 / 24hr. Once you leave your car there, you cannot go in and out, so be sure to take everything with you. We had no issues with this.
To get $40/day for your parking, be sure to give your parking stub when checking out of the OYO hotel, they will validate your parking so when you actually pay at the parking garage, they will have received the information in their system that it's been validated already and not charge you more.
Lastly, location location location! The location was fantastic and close to everything we wanted to do, we were able to walk to most attractions/events. For a few of the further things, we took the subway for a couple of bucks, no issues with the subways (FYI - you don't need to buy a metrocard, just swipe your credit card).
We had an amazing 1st time! We ❤️ NY!

The location can’t be matched - you’re a block from Times Square, and a short walk to the Rockefeller subway station. That said, we couldn’t hear any street noise which was unexpected. The rooms are very basic, the beds are cheap flimsy quality but I find if you’re tired enough and take pre-emptive Panadol, you don’t notice. The room is very small, we could only open one suitcase at a time and could only just move around with 3 suitcases and 2 adults. The cleaning staff were amazing, we got sick and although they didn’t con the room they still swapped our towels for us. The shower took over 5 minutes to heat up, but you factored that in, once hot it was fantastic!
I was very nervous given the reviews about smoking charges, and our floor often stank of cannabis, so I contacted the hotel who made sure to fix the smell. It’s not their fault someone else didn’t obey the rules. I found communication was key so I didn’t get charged unfairly.
Overall it wasn’t a 4* hotel, closer to a basic 3, but it served its purpose.

Overall its not a bad hotel. Our room was very small and had probably seen better days as hinges were rusty, cracks in the walls and just general marks on walls and window sills. There was no shower curtain when we checked in so everything got wet, one was installed the day after obviously after the cleaning staff member noticed how wet the bathroom was. When booking it said the room had been recently upgraded. The room was cleaned daily to a good standard however maintenance really need to look at the walls and other marks in the room. I didn't realise you could access a gym at another location and only seen this on a small sign at reception when checking out, it would be a good idea to remind customers when checking in what facilities can be accessed. These rooms are basic and you don't even get a bottle of water in your room, you get an iron but you will have to use the bed to iron any clothes. The bar area was undergoing renovation work so can't comment on those areas, the staff were friendly which is always a help. There is also scaffolding at the entrance due to work being done. We were hit with a $100 per night security deposit which when checking in was the first i heard of it. There is limited space in NYC but this hotel is tight given the price you pay. The hotel is in a good location and we would probably stay there again however our expectations would be a lot lower.

Such a convenient location (30 seconds walk to Times Square), friendliest of staff, felt 100% safe, no noise polution and comfortable.
The only downside is the actual room pictures on site doesn't reflect the current state of the room. Just need a little maintenance.

We loved this hotel! Its location is PERFECT, you step out the door and you’re 30seconds from the red steps in Times Square. No where in Manhattan was more than 20 mins away on the metro.
The hotel itself is basic but lovely, everything is modern and clean. The bed was comfy, the shower was hot and the staff were so friendly.
We paid £180 in resort fees/room tax for 5 nights, plus a $500 security deposit which was refunded instantly on check out. This is all on their website so isn’t a hidden fee like some reported in other reviews ☺️
We had an amazing time in NY and this hotel was a great base for our travels.

We do not remember the value of the taxes but they were quite high.
We are still struggling with the penalty on smoke fees.
They do not answer neither us, nor the traveling agency, and not even the New York City Department of Consumer and Worker Protection.
We are sending the complaint to other legal entities. There must be someone who does something. This Hotel can not do whatever they want with the credit cards without being punished …!
There are more places to choose from in the New York City area.
